Holland's Grimoire of Magickal Correspondence: A Ritual Handbook

backwards and not user friendly
If you are looking for a quick guide to magical and symbolic correspondences, this book will be a disappointment. As other have noted, the TOC is meaningless. There is no index and, frankly, the book itself should be the book's index. The terms noted in the book are in alphabetic order. Rather than the term being the name of a stone or herb, etc, followed by insights on the symbolism an suggested application of that stone, herb, tree, etc., the term listed is concept--some random dictionary word such as "cleverness," "flexibility" or "management." Many terms have pages and pages of subterms: the term Disease goes on for pages listing various diseases; the term "Magic" goes on and on with different genres of magic. A much better, more readable and practical source for this sorts of definitions is John Michael Greer's Encyclopedia of Occultism. Holland's Grimoire of Magickal Correspondences in not a grimoire by any stretch of the definition; it is not an compendium of correspondences; it is not even an encyclopedia or dictionary. It is a hodge-podge of terms that are difficult to navigate aside from the terms being in alphabetical order. I also suspect that the high star rating can simply be attributed to a review campaign and not a true expression of the merit of the book.

Paid full price for a dirty, bent up copy...

Did anyone notice chapter X is missing?
The table of contents is only the alphabet...or at least most of it. You cannot look anything up. You have to read the whole book to find what you are looking for. You can look up the problem or what you want to do magick for but you cannot look up what...say, for instance, what does a shrew correspond to? You cannot look up a specific item at all. there is no index in the back only a "selected bibliography". Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of information in the book and it's a great resource unless you are limited for time. To be honest the info in the book is great but I'm going to have to buy another book of correspondences because the table of contents is of no help whatsoever and when I am looking for something I need either a table of contents or an index. Really this book has neither, plus it's missing one of the alphabet letters. The letter X has no chapter at all. (at least not in the copy they sent me) Take note of the photo.

Easy and quick reference
Word well for Me, makes it easy to find needed correspondences and helps to construct a ritual. Recommend.

messy
too many correspondences (topics), some of which so similar they hardly needed two entries.plus, the information is not too well presented. it just looks so messy! if amazon let you ever see anything other than table of contents (i.e. if you could see just one page of it) you would know what i mean!i haven't used it yet, and i don't see that i will. i am THAT much put off by the way information is presented :((

Amazing!
This is the ONLY correspondence book you will ever need. I love it! I am so grateful that I found this book. The content is well organized and not confusing. I highly highly highly recommend it. Even though it is impossible to have everything in one book, this one got darn close. Great for beginners and sages.

Needs to be rewritten
Lots of information but this book is very messy and disorganized. It needs an index. The table of contents is useless as it only contains chapter numbers with no descriptions. The correspondences are listed alphabetically so you need to know what you want to and then look it up like you are looking up a word in a dictionary. Again good information but lacks index.

Holland's Grimoire of Magickal Correspondences: A Ritual Handbook
This is a must have reference for anyone who indulges in spellcraft or for anyone who just has an interest in what wiccans or witches include in their crafting also an excellent proof that the witchcraft of today is not bound to the movies or the durrogatory implications in the religions of yesterday that are still present in the world today.

Not good
Not the best reference work for correspondences. Confusing and with very little useful information. Don't bother.
