Great tool for a thorough cleaning
I finally convinced myself to pick up this tool after spending close to an hour trying to flush out dried ink from my vintage (1990s era) Montblanc 149. Despite my efforts, traces of blue ink still stained the clear water I flushed through my pen and my frustration grew as I found myself unable to remove the nib unit to flush the feed and manually clean the barrel.Originally, I was very tentative about spending so much money for a tool designed only to remove the nib unit from my 149, but the desire to correct my cleaning oversights finally outweighed my reservations about the product and I pulled the trigger on the order. The package arrived with a small treat (some Haribo gummy bears), a syringe of silicone grease, and the tool itself all carefully wrapped in bubble wrap to preserve the safety of the items. I read through the included instructions and noted that directions of using "Side A" for my vintage pen. I was a little reserved about sticking a foreign metal object near my 149 in fear of scratching the precious resin, so I took my time and lined up the holes in the feed with the tool and carefully twisted the barrel counterclockwise as per the instructions. Voila! The nib unscrewed from the barrel with a little effort due to some dried up sealant used by Montblanc. A quick peek into the barrel under some light showed that my near hour long cleaning trials proved futile in the end as I noticed some leftover blue ink diluted by the remaining water in the barrel. A quick run under the sink thoroughly flushed out any remaining dried ink and I was finally left with a clean pen. Prior to reassembly, I dried out the barrel of the pen and applied a little of the included silicone grease to the interior to lube the piston sliding mechanism as well as a small dab on the nib threads so that removal in the future will be a little easier too. Satisfied, I reassembled the pen in the same careful manner as the disassembly process, this time turning the barrel clockwise with the tool inserted into the nib slots and felt it tighten into place. This whole process took less than 10 minutes compared to the trials and tribulations I had to endure before getting this tool.Thank you to the seller for creating such a quality product. I had no issues with the disassembly and assembly of the nib unit using this tool and look forward to using it again in the future. One thing I will note, the 'pins' on the Side A part of the tool looks a little thin (by no fault of the manufacturer, but by design of the pin slots in the Vintage 149s) and could potentially be prone to breaking off as I've seen in another review. However, it appears to be sturdy in my first time use of this tool and I'll cross that bridge if it ever breaks. I can now enjoy using my pen more and switching ink colors more frequently without the dread of going through a long, tiring cleaning process. Thank you!

Expensive, but glad to service my own pen.
I purchased both the nib and piston tools for my Montblanc 146 Le Grand. I actually searched for Montblanc disassembly tools before buying my new 146, knowing in advance that I would want to clean and service it myself. These tools work well and look great. Included with each wrench is a generous supply of silicon grease in a handy syringe. My pen is new so I had no difficulties in removing the nib and piston assemblies. If you own an older Montblanc with possible dried up ink inside, I'd be very careful and maybe consider a steel tool instead. These tools are aluminum and could break in a stubborn assembly.A thank you to Ultimate Pen Polish for making these tools available. I am enjoying developing my own ritualistic cleaning routine. And thank you to Montblanc, as I truly love the writing experience with my new Le Grand and its extra-fine nib!

Wow! I'm actually impressed.
I was originally apprehensive about ordering this product, but since I use and love their pen flush, I though I would give it a chance. I am glad I did! The tool is extremely well made and looks like a piece of art. It fit my pens perfectly and I was able to remove the pistons with ease. Plus, I was able to work on my pens myself and be done in minutes instead of paying the hundreds Mont Blanc wanted and waiting the eight to ten weeks they had told me it would take! I’ll be getting the nib tools soon!

Super ease of use
I want to thank you enormously for creating a tool like this! I had an issue with water being retained behind the piston, and the problem was fixed as soon as I used the tool to remove the nib and flush out the pen! Kudos! This is also a true "meisterstuck" item.
