JPS Hebrew-English TANAKH [Jewish Publication Society] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. JPS Hebrew-English TANAKH Review: Very nice Bible! - The quality is excellent. The text itself is ancient, as it includes the original Hebrew glyphs. I grew up with the KJV of the Old Testament. This is a nice basis for comparison as the KJV claims to be a word for word translation of the original Hebrew and Aramaic text. I’ve come to a bias towards the prose of the KJV, but this version is just as, if not more powerful in its words. I can provide no input on the Hebrew and Aramaic text contained in the book, because I have yet to learn those languages. That is another reason for purchasing the book as it allows for practice. This is where the book falls a little short. I can read the English just fine, but Hebrew seems to use dots and small markings for the designation of vowel sounds - for me it is impossible to read without a magnifying apparatus of some sort. My phone camera works well for this, so I simply cannot complain. I can take this book everywhere. Most bibles are cumbersome. This was meant to be compact and accomplishes this goal perfectly. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the Tanakh. Review: Divine Name - Good purchase. I only can read 1 Hebrew word: God's name, Jehovah. I can easily pick it out and highlight it in the Hebrew text. Sadly, the English version just says God. But I'm so happy to see for myself that the tetragrammatin is there. It justifies my belief the He has a name as well as a title. Yes, the print is tiny, but that's what reading glasses are for.

Fantastic size. easy-to read type.
Great edition of the Tanakh. Contains everything the full-size edition does except that the paper is newsprint rather than the ultra-thin lightweight paper in other JPS books. Torah portions and Haftorahs are marked at the top of the page and where they begin in the text. This is a great gift and has a nice little presentation page along with translation notes for the 1985 edition. NOTE: The guide to Torah and Haf'torah readings is now in the back of the book (back matter) rather than in the front pages (front matter) as it is in the full-size English-only Tanakh (the large blue hardcover). The Hebrew text is very clear and easy-to-read. Highly recommended!

I love God’s Word
I love that it’s black [wont get or look dirty] also the font thickness of this Bible. However I’m not sure why the title and the beginning [Genesis] is at the back of the Bible. I love Yahuah’s Words. I’m not sure why I thought the New Testament would be in here. I forgot Jews need more time to receive Christ as the One who lives in us, died, rose and will return. Praise God. Redeemer Savior God.

Great translation, very portable, SUPER tiny print!
It is really nice to be able to keep this in my bag. I love always having it with me and the translation is great. Warning though, I have pretty decent eye sight and I will be buying a magnifying glass to read it. If you don't need the vowel pointings to read Hebrew then it's just fine but if you need them.... seriously Super Tiny! My husband and I had quite a laugh when I showed him how tiny the print is. Still, I do love how well done and portable this is (it is a little thick but still can be carried in a backpack) and I did expect it to be small from the reviews. Maybe not this small ;-)

Really small
I mean, okay, if that’s what you’re looking for…. But I wasn’t prepared for it to be palm sized, 2” thick, and have print that’s about a 4pt font. I guess I’m getting old, but I have to bust out the reading light or I’m going to need to find one of my grandma’s old reading magnifiers… The content is great. My only qualms were that it may benefit some to know exactly how small but thick this little brick of a book is.

Beautiful and Compact
This is a beautiful and compact tanakh that I keep in my living room in case I want to read and follow along with the week's parashah. I wanted one with both English and Hebrew because I think the Hebrew portion is important even though I'm not very good at reading or comprehension for biblical Hebrew. This is a very nice book, compact and very thick, you need to take care of it because it's not hardcover, but it helps me if I want to read, study, and learn. Also sometimes when I am bored or doing something out of habit (TV/computer) I open this book and start reading randomly and it just feels better to refocus and recenter (I also always learn something). I was following the parashah by reading mainly online and I'm glad I bought this tanakh because reading a physical book feels more calming and special these days.

Very small book
It arrived on time and In perfect condition! I would not consider it pocket size because of how thick it is. Very pleased…

It's really beautiful the page all really soft and perfect as well as the cover that is made in similar-black- leather. The font is quite small but still readable and really dark/strong so it doesn't really makes the eyes tired by reading it. The quality is perfect, I appreciate the pocket size

Only four stars, because I'm over 60 and the fond is quite small, otherwise I am very happy. Great size if you want to take it with you traveling.

Happy with the purchase. ♥️ I know many people say it’s backwards. It is because Hebrew is read right to left. It is how it supposed to be. Letters are tiny because 2 languages needs to be combined in one book and it’s handy.
