Great spiritual nuggets! I enjoyed reading this with my book club.This is a great book to keep on my nightstand and read over and over.Short meditations on 60 topics from seasons of life to last things. These simple pages of advice really did renew my spiritual journey!One that really got me was this one "the household duties are fundamental, and failure in them renders every other work suspect". I better change my habits!How happy you will be if you keep yourself humbly in God's hand.

St Francis de Sales is a favorite because he packs so much insight into such easy to read language. I revisit this book in parts. I can find what I think I need, or pick at random to find something for reflection. It’s best digested in a couple pages at a time because it packs so much insight. This collection is very easy to use and is a gift I’ve given on occasion for Confirmation, to someone beginning anew the spiritual journey, and to close friends undergoing difficult times of struggle or life changes.

Even though St Francis de Sales wrote this advice around 1600, it is very relevant. From the outside, human society looks a lot different than in his time. But, the interior struggles we face are still substantially similar. St Francis de Sales addresses things we all do, such as over analyzing past wrongs, feeling unworthy of God's love, being depressed in trying times. This book is not just for some small group of intellectual, theological elite. His practical advice is aimed at ordinary people living in ordinary vocations (marriage, secular jobs) who want to make that ordinary life extraordinary by living it in the love of God.Also, kudos to the translator for making this book readable for modern English-speaking readers.

The meditations are not long so they are great for those who do a little prayer. They are packed with wisdom. I recommend it very much!

This is one of those books that should be read and reread many times throughout one's life. Saint Francis de Sales has much prudent advice to offer to those seeking a closer union with God, and also for those seeking to find the true meaning of life.

Really really enjoyed this book, I would strongly recommend all Catholics to read it! It was thought provoking and very powerful.

Not very much writing here. An insubstantial book.

The book contains original text until the first 98th page. After that it contains stuff contains things related to coaching and assertiveness.Wrong information. Disappointed.

Book is not what I thought it to be, Chapters are short and not a deep reflection on the topics as I had hoped
