The Sanivite drain pump is used to pump gray water away from a variety of fixtures in commercial and residential applications. The system is able to discharge the waste up to 16 feet vertical and/or 150 feet horizontal. This model is small enough to fit inside a kitchen cabinet and was designed to sustain the toughest applications as it is capable of handling hot water and grease. The Sanivite model was designed to sustain the toughest applications meant for drain pumps. Its pumping capabilities and unique design are the reason why these range of pumps are preferred for heavy duty applications. The inside of the Sanivite is comprised of a pressure chamber, which starts and stops the unit, and the motor, which drives the pump. When the water enters the Sanivite, it activates a micro switch in the pressure chamber, which in turn starts the motor. The motor is sealed for life in an oil filled enclosure. A spindle/shaft drives the impeller and therefore the moving parts are kept to an absolute minimum. Water enters the chamber and is pumped away into the sanitary sewer. The unit pumps the effluent upward to 16 feet and/or 150 feet horizontally (with gravity fall). Once the water is discharged and the water level in the container goes down, the micro switch deactivates the unit until water enters the unit again. A normal operating cycle for the Sanivite can be as short as 2 - 10 seconds depending upon the discharge pipe run configuration; power consumption is therefore minimal. In addition to a sink, the Sanivite will also accept and discharge the waste water from a variety of other sanitary fixtures such as: a shower, a bathtub, a urinal and a whirlpool. When adding a bathtub or shower, a base will have to be constructed. This base should be made out of a 2" x 6" (minimum) or 2” x 8” (recommended) on edge, to allow for the installation of a P-trap and the required 1/4”per foot gravity flow towards the pump unit. The Sanivite can also accept gray water from a washing machine through an indirect connection such as a laundry sink. The waste water from other sanitary fixtures is discharged into the Sanivite via two 2 inch inlets, on either side of the housing and an additional 1 1/2" inlet on the top of the unit. The discharge elbow on top of the Sanivite can be turned either to the left, to the right, or towards the back, depending on the discharge installation. A non-return valve, which comes already assembled on the discharge elbow, prevents back flow into the unit. This unit has been designed with a vent connection on the lid. All plumbing codes require connection to a vent system. Please note that the vent system should be a two-way air vent. The use of mechanical vents, air admittance valves or similar devices are not permitted as these are considered one-way air vent systems. It is also highly recommended for the drain pump to be connected to a Ground Fault Interrupter (GFI) circuit. The Sanivite is small enough to fit comfortably inside a kitchen cabinet or vanity or inside the overhang of a whirlpool. The Sanivite has been certified to American and Canadian Standards. Great option for a basement.
This thing has been in almost a year. We live in the basement full time and this has been a great product. Hook up the plumbing and plug and play. Pumps the sinks to the plumbing with no issue. Would definitely buy another one if we ever have the need!!

Fantastic product for a niche market.
If you have a basement with gray water and need to move it to your primary DWV system, this is fantastic! It is so fast, so small, and so easy to install! So much easier than breaking a hole into your basement foundation and installing the standard Zoeller sump pump type installation.

Replacement pump
This replaces a sanivite I purchased about 10 years ago. That one started to make noises. When I took it apart, I discovered that the capacitor had blown. The Sanivite replacement parts are expensive. I found suitable replacements elsewhere for much less cost.I ordered this replacement unit and was shocked that now it costs twice what I paid before. It's good pump but the price is a bit high.I have installed the new pump and it works flawlessly in a basement where the septic line is about 5' above the floor. I use it for a washing machine and laundry tub. No problems. The old pump? I have replaced the condenser and switch. It's now my backup.
