Star Wars: The Clone Wars Character Encyclopedia: 200-Plus Jedi, Sith, Droids, Aliens, and More!

I have recently watched Season One of The Clone Wars on DVD while, at the same time, reading The Official Episode Guide to see if I missed anything while I was watching. The DVDs are wonderful, and it has been great fun to watch the episodes again after seeing them originally on TV. Each episode includes a featurette showing director Dave Filoni and other key members of the production team talking about the development of the episode. All were very interesting. Also, a few of the episodes are presented as director's cuts, so they show some footage we have not seen before. Great fun. The package also includes a booklet showing drawings and pictures.The Official Episode Guide is also very useful. Each episode is covered separately with a synopsis, pictures, background information, and lists of the cast, characters, weapons, and vehicles. I found the book to be helpful if you read about each episode after watching them on the DVD.Then there is the Character Encyclopedia for Clone Wars. The book covers more than 200 characters and gives you a description, statistics, a picture, and specific background information for each. The characters are listed in alphabetical order so you can always look up a particular one you might be interested in. As is true with most Clone Wars items, the book has a great look to it.I am pleased that The Clone Wars series has been successful enough to spawn all of the books and the DVDs that have been issued. The quality of the packaging has been excellent, and I am optimistic that we have a great deal more to look forward to.

Santa brought this, along with a few other Star Wars themed items ,including Season 2 of The Clone Wars series DVDs, for my 6 year old. He's fairly bright but has some attention issues, so this book has been fabulous for both of us. The format appeals to hsi visual sense with large, dramatic pictures of the characters and character names in bold, obvious print. He's gone through the book cover to cover several times, taking an hour of so each, which is great for his mother and me. The book has also been useful cementing the concept of a dictionary. He now goes to look up specific characters when they appear in the cartoon (which is also great BTW) and has finally gotten the concept of alphabetizing. Watching him look characters up and then come tell me all sorts of detailed information about Eeth Koth or some other obscure Jedi makes a parent happy.

My son loves this book. He really likes the Clone Wars series. The book tells you about characters from season one and two. So just know it's limited.It tells you the gender of the character, height of the character, whether they are allied to the Jedi or Sith, what species they are and their homeworld , who their friends are. You get a run down on weapons and the character's talents. Each page, has a box with that information listed next to an image of each character. Then also, there are small boxes that tell you interesting facts, for example, on Kit Fisto, it has a small box with a line to his tentacles that come out of his head. The box tells you that he can sense other's pheromones. Another box tells you that his green eyes are great for low light vision.It also tells you the names of characters you may have been unsure of, like beasts and machines they ride.

This book covers all characters in the series that made an apparition up to the second season, even the less notorious and insignificant. Add the major players and then you have a really complete guide to the galaxy.For a really low price, you'll get an excellent quality product, good paper, resistant hardcover, excellent illustrations and pictures, the exact amount of text for everybody, small children included, to understand who's who in the Clone Wars universe.This book definitively is a must for any children. If you are a grow up Star Wars fan, you'll be equally delighted.

This is a good quick-reference guide that contains virtually every character, creature, droid, etc. that has appeared through the end of Season 2 of the Clone Wars. The only glaring omission is the young Boba Fett, which I found odd, because all of the other bounty hunters are featured. I primarily purchased it because I wanted to keep track of the various clone troopers that have been introduced so far, but I was happy to find it also covers all the droids (from the astromechs with their unique designations to the different models of battle droids to even the most obscure power droid) and quite a few of the background characters. As other reviewers have stated, there is not a wealth of information to be had here--each character is only afforded a blurb or two of biography and maybe 2-3 callouts as to costume details, weapons, etc. Still, the layout of each page is striking, with a full-color rendering of the character and stills from the episodes that feature them. The book is nicely bound in a durable, glossy hard cover and is smaller than the typical DK reference guide, only about the size of a standard hardback book. I think fans of all ages will enjoy this one as a casual armchair encyclopedia. Those who can be patient, though, might be wise to wait another year, as there will undoubtedly be an expanded edition released at the end of Season 3.

I wish they had waited to publish this book until the series was completely released on DVD, but I suppose at the time it was written the plans for the video release of Season Six "The Lost Missions" were not in place. Despite not being complete, I would still recommend this book. It is very informative and has lots of background info and images from the episodes. DK's Star Wars books are the favorites in my library, and their innovative layouts are always interesting. If you are trying to remember a fact about a character from a particular episode, this book would be a terrific reference.

this book was requested by my 14 yr old son who is a huge star wars fan and of course loves the clone wars series too. it's a fun book if you're looking specifically for something on the clone wars series. detailed descriptions of each character, statistics and interested facts for each one. so far i have not heard a complaint about the book, although i think he would like a general "encyclopedia" if it were available, this book being specifically an encyclopedia of characters only. the price was great on this book for a new publication of a great very nice quality hardback book.

This was a birthday gift for a Star Wars fan, and to our surprise, the recipient did not already own this book and was thoroughly pleased to receive an “all-inclusive, magically detailed and informative collector’s item,” as quoting his summary of this “great book!” He highly recommends this book for any fellow fans, and for those seeking cool details on supposedly “unimportant information to non-fans.” Great buy!
