DEWALT Right Angle Drill, 1/2-Inch, 11 1/2-Amp (DW124)

UPDATE- This does not come with a case! get the same drill with case part # DW124KBefore the dewalt I used the black and decker version 14 years ago and obviously the design has stood the test of time. I have been an electrician for 15 years and work mostly in residential construction where drilling into wood is a big part of my job. THIS IS THE BEST RIGHT ANGLE DRILL I HAVE USED.I have not tried the milwakee copy but I don't like their handle. I have used many auger drills, some are to slow, most can break your wrist or knock you off of a ladder if they get cought but this puppy is fast and has a great leverage design that can be controlled. I have not found another drill that makes 4" whole saw holes easy work. Compare this to the Milwakee version but don't waste your money on other whole hogs!

it was a record, not a drill

I named my drill Boris, why because Boris bores this thing is amazing super smooth cutting action no binding or bogging down whatsoever wet wood knotted wood nail embedded wood all turns into smooth clean holes once Boris comes to call. I love its length provides great leverage my only complaint is the bail handle it keeps you out of some tight spaces so I removed it and operate in close quarters I wish there was a palm grip along the lines of Milwaukees super hawg but all in all I feel this is the best stud and joist drill around for plumbers electricians and the like

Power! There is plenty of power in this drill that's for sure and that's why I bought it, but it turns out that bigger is not necessarily better. I bought this to replace my DeWalt standard right angle drill after it broke at the collar. This is defiantly a more stout and better built model. However.....its heavy! At least twice as heavy as the standard right angle drill. Its also just bigger all the way around, longer wider ect.It does not come with a case, so I tried to use the old DeWalt case I had from my old right angle drill. It doesn't really work, but I made it happen by cutting all the plastic tabs out of the tool case, even then the drill has to have all handles removed to fit and the case is literally bulging at the hinges when closed.Because of the width of the chuck head you cannot drill tight up against a stud to penetrate the floor plate without having some angle on the bit and thus the hole.So in closing...gobs of power no doubt, it will break your wrist if your not careful, but its heavy and difficult to use in close quarters and difficult to store when not in use.

Exceeded my expectations. Has power to spare. It feels well balanced while operating. Overall a great power tool. Highly recommended.

This large drill is very powerful and versatile. The dual speed transmission and variable speed switch fit many applications requiring high torque. We used it for drilling 1 1/2" diameter holes 46" deep into end grain walnut hardwood. This drill is heavy and big, but it really works.
