Legend Seeker Season 2

Picking up immediately where the first season left off, the second installment in the Legend of the Seeker series is an action packed adventure that pits our favorite sword-wielding hero against a far more formidable enemy than he might have ever imagined. Freedom has come to the Midlands with the death of its tyrannical leader, the sorcerer Darken Rahl, at the hands of the Seeker, a young man prophesied to defeat great evil wherever he finds it. But in using an ancient and powerful magic to bring about his adversary's death, Richard (Craig Horner) has accidentally torn a rift in the barrier between the Midlands and the Underworld. The ruler of the Underworld is a vicious harbinger of death determined to conquer the world of the living. Known only as the Keeper, he uses the tear in the rift to send forth hellish minions to prey on the souls of the living. The invincible immortal beings begin a trail of slaughter that Richard must find some way to halt, little realizing the Keeper has another follower willing to do his bidding -- the spirit of Darken Rahl (Craig Parker) is to act as an intermediary between the Keeper and Seeker. When the Mord'Sith storm a neighboring village and kidnap seven little girls they intend to "train" to join their order, Cara (Tabrett Bethall) and the Mother Confessor, Kahlan (Bridget Regan), must unite to rescue the children. But worse perils and revealed secrets lie ahead that will threaten their lives and test the boundaries of friendship. Richard's grandfather and wizard Zedd (Bruce Spence) has learned of another prophecy that claims Richard will widen the rift and allow the Keeper out of the Underworld. Soon, the Seeker might become his own greatest enemy in the battle between good and evil. This series fills the fantasy void while being exceptionally well written and entertaining. Loosely based on a book series but much more streamlined, the episodes are more formidable this season. The villain is infinitely more powerful, the romance is kicked up a notch, and there are new characters thrown into the mix, but that doesn't mean it has lost its charm. Fans worried the introduction of Mord'Sith might throw off the balance but instead it breathes new life into the group. Cara is on a journey of self-discovery, cold and unfeeling at first but progressively more selfless and compassionate (to a certain extent) as the show continues. There is a fantastic cast of guest characters that range from the return of Darken Rahl in human form to a visit from what appears to be the Creator. There are reanimated corpses (mummies and zombies), time reversals, split personalities, courtroom trials, and trips to the underworld. It's all-around a much more creative and intense season and an improvement if possible on the first. It provides our opportunity to meet Kahlan's father, learn the truth of Darken Rahl's existence, encounter Zedd as a young man, meet the last of the Confessors, encounter new sorceresses, and much more. Craig Parker is even given a chance to show a comedic side in playing a Darken Rahl look-alike. The acting really is tremendous this time around, particularly from Regan when she is asked to play the two sides of Kahlan -- one a cold Mother Confessor and the other a lovesick sap. I loved seeing the characters develop. It was fun watching Cara and Kahlan start out as enemies and become friends, as well as Richard learning more about his past and parentage and even exploring a bit of Zedd's youth. There are a lot of episodes that are just plain fun to watch -- the comedy is ever-present in spite of some serious themes and the season ends on a high note after putting us through thrills, chills, and an anticipated amount of romance.

The first season was a little slow (at least by comparison) but season 2 is awesome! There has been much more action and the plots have gotten better with the addition of the reformed Mord Sith Cara to the merry little band and even briefly having Darken Rahl (villain from season 1) join them. If you liked Lord of the Rings or that sort of thing, this is a must buy for you. It has wizards, witches, magical swords, women that can make you tell the truth, prophecies, dark lords, epic struggles between good and evil and even a few of the actors from Lord of the Rings. All it's missing is a ring and some elves, but I guess they had to leave something for season 3...if there will be a season 3 that is. As the previous reviewer said, it is doubtful the show will be picked up for a 3rd season. It has suffered from a serious lack of publicity almost from day 1. Were it not for Briget Regan going on G4 to promote the show I wouldn't have known it existed and if not for Tivo I would have never known when it was on. I watch it on WGN (which has said they will not air season 3) and the only promos for the show I ever see come on right after watching the episode. So the only people that will ever know when it is on are those that already knew when it was on....how do you grow an audience like that? It's kinda like a guy cutting off his horse's leg and then complaining that it doesn't ride fast enough so he shoots it. Hopefully syfy will pick it up. If you were one of the many that were not fortunate enough to watch this show at a regular time slot and have any interest at all in the show, you MUST buy this dvd and you will not be disappointed. Things ended in a way that if that is really the end it is an ending worthy of rememberance but there are still questions and certainly a hint that the true dark lord of the series could come back with a vengeance. I for one want to see what happens next. Keep fighting Seeker fans! Maybe we can get a partial season or tv movies or something. Legend of the Seeker is one of the best TV shows that no one watched. I'd call it more than just a great fantasy series - it's just plain great TV. As a longtime fantasy fan, I had been on the lookout over the years for a good fantasy TV show or movie. Until I saw this series, I had come to think that maybe fantasy just didn't lend itself to a visual format. This series changed my mind. This season builds on the heroic quest begun in the first season, with the addition of a heaven versus underworld fight for control of the world. A new and fascinating character, a female warrior, is added to the group of heroes. This character balances out their group in terms of gender, but, more importantly, in terms of personality, adding a dose of matter-of-fact directness to a circumspect team. Certainly it's easy to see traces of the director's prior Hercules and Xena series in these characters, but they're less over-the-top here, and so easier to sympathize with. This series feels less like mythology and more like an action adventure compared to the earlier two. In my opinion, this season succeeds all around. Emotional impact is surprisingly high for an adventure series. The scenery, already very well done in the first season, now looks as good as a movie. The kung-fu style action works, and the magic is relatively convincing. Its humor might be corny but it's still amusing. The show is sexy without being smutty. There are many shades of gray within its good-versus-evil premise. Also, don't try watching any of the last few episodes unless you have time for them all. Some viewers complained about occasional silliness, but I felt that these lighter moments helped keep the series from being too dark in its entirety. The main character's acting may also sometimes feel forced, but not so much that it detracted from the series for me. Note to parents: there is a lot of violence, including torture, that could be frightening to young viewers. The main characters use violence defensively and avoid it if at all possible. Unfortunately, the series got cancelled at the end of its second season. This means that the last episode in this collection does not reach a conclusive ending, but instead sets up for the planned third season. Given how few good shows there are on TV, I really don't understand how this got taken off the air. I'd love to see a Mini-series that concluded the first two seasons, but only if they brought back ALL of the original actors.

This show is wonderful there are no words to describe how great it is from the story line, to the characters, special effects, the beautiful scenery, and much much more. Season one was amazing, but season two took it to a whole different level with the addition of a new character it made the show that more entertaining. There hasn't been a show this good in a long time this is the only show i actually make sure to take time out of my busy schedule to see. Everyone I have shown legend of the seeker to has become a fan of the show instantly there is yet to be one person who says the show is not good because that would be a lie. Terry Goodkind's book has come to life in an amazing way the lush lands in New Zealand helped to create this world of magic and wizards. I sincerely hope this show is saved for a third season because it sure is deserving of it and i'm doing the best i can to help this show through saveourseeker.com it the first show in a long time that has a moral to it. it is not like everyday shows now that have no point, all they talk about is whose boyfriend is whose, who's cheating on you, who's pregnant with who's baby and the rest are csi's. legend of the seeker is the total opposite it has moral and meaning in every episode that helps us go on throughout the day teaching you to always put one foot after the other. I sincerely hope ABC decides to continue this show the reason its not known to many is through its lack in advertisement the same people who make this show make Spartacus blood and sand and i've seen so many advertisement for it, but not legend of the seeker this show is continuously gaining more and more fans everyday there are millions out there who are fighting for this show. Please help to save it its a show worth every penny and effort.

This is one of the best sci fi fantasy series produced. After Hercules and Xena went off the air there wasn't much to satisfy sci fi fans on regular broadcast television . That is until Legend of the Seeker appeared. Although I really enjoyed season one, in my opinion the season really picked up with addition of the Cara character and from there season 2 took off. The entire cast really worked well together on screen. There was definitely all the elements needed to make a successful season and series. The action was incredible. It definitely evolved from the days of Hercules and Xena (both excellent series ... I would recommend both). There was plenty of chemistry between the main characters, Richard and Kahlan...plenty of love and romance. The big bad...Darken Rahl....I think was a perfect mix of evil and hotness...you hate him....but he was just so sexy you always want more. There was the comedic factor... The wizard was wise, powerful, lovable and quite funny. And let's not forget the dry sense of humor of the Mord Sith, Cara. Another complex character that in the beginning you didn't know whether to love or hate her, but you begin to see her loyalty and the fact that she has an heart. I could go on and on.... I would definitely recommend this series to sci fi fantasy fans... It's unfortunate that the series didn't continue beyond season 2. It has so much potential. One good thing, the series still continues on in the fanfic world... I wish some bright company or person would decide to continue the series with additional series or at the very least create a movie version... I would watch....hint hint!!!!!!

I am a huge fan of Master Goodkind's books and, although this series did not follow the books as loyally as it probably should have, I, nonetheless, found the series to be immensely entertaining. As the second season came to a close, I felt more than a few pangs of disappointment when I came to find that there wouldn't be a third season. They really should have sold the series to a network that was willing to keep it alive and ACTUALLY do something with it! The only part that took me awhile to get used to was the actor who played the part of Richard Cypher, the main character. He just didn't quite capture the character sufficiently enough for me, and it was kind of hard to imagine him as the love interest of the actress who played as the confessor. In short, he was miscast, and upstaged by the other actors he was performing with (not a good thing when you are playing a show's MAIN CHARACTER). That being said, after a time, I will concede that he starts to kind of grow on you, and you can, in a fashion, ignore his shortcomings and a certain thing you hear in his voice from time to time that slips out that TOTALLY diminishes the masculinity of the character he is supposed to be playing as (watch the show, and you'll hear what I mean, I assure you). That aside, the series really started to pick up the tempo in the second season, and I was really looking forward to seeing how it might have developed had it been granted a 3rd season (which it SHOULD have)... In closing, if you want some solid, good entertainment, buy the "Legend of the Seeker." You won't regret it!

I second and third everything said about the quality of this show (LOTS). I know I have enjoyed the quality of acting, the beautiful sets and scenery,the music and the story lines (And, yes, I HAVE read ALL of the Sword of Truth series by Goodkind!). Although the television series did not follow the books exactly, the most important characters (Richard, Kahlan, Zedd and Cara) are true to the Goodkind imaginings. And, thank goodness, the core values of the novel remain: Richard and Kahlan's unswerving, beautiful love for one another, the relationships between Cara and Richard/Kahlan/Zedd, her humanization, and family. And the action scenes (Richard and the Sword of Truth, Kahlan and her knives, Cara and and agiels, Zedd and his wizard fire) were fabulous! Season 1 was epic, so I don't know what that makes Season 2. Superb! I bought several copies of the Season 1 DVD and passed them along to friends and have pre-ordered Season 2. I have many friends who are Moms who watched the show with their children who are fascinated by the characters and the stories. I was also VERY pleased that the supporting cast as well as the production crews remained throughout the two seasons. And, most of all, Michael Beesley who directed the first two episodes of Season 1 (as well as many others) also directed the what-may-well-be last episode. Joseph LoDuca's music added a lot to the series and I play it on my car CD every time I drive somewhere. There were just so many wonderful aspects to be derived from this show. I am truly saddened that it has been canceled.

Für die Menschen die es immer noch nicht verstanden haben und der antiken Schulmeinung nachhängen, dass eine Verfilmung immer schlechter als ein Buch sein soll oder auch nur verglichen werden sollte, mal eine Frage vorweg: Ihr würdet Shakespeare oder Geothes Faust sicherlich auch als große Literatur empfinden und vergeßt dabei, dass diese meistens auch nur Drehbücher für Bühnenstücke waren. Auch der Film ist demnach ein Buch und eure persönliche Fantasie, wie ihr euch beispielsweise "Das Schwert der Wahrheit" beim Lesen vorgestellt habt, ist auch nicht das Maß aller Dinge, welches die einzig wahre Interpretation ist. Buch und Film sind zwei völlig unterschiedliche Medien mit unterschiedlichen Stärken und Schwächen. Ein Vergleich ähnelt dem zwischen Eiern und Gemüse, beides sind zwar Lebensmittel, dennoch völlig unterschiedlich in ihrer Zusammensetzung und beides funktioniert besonders gut, wenn sie sich ergänzen. Ebenso gebe ich hier, da ich selbst Storywriter bin, zu Bedenken, dass eine Story erst dann als dünn zu bezeichnen ist, wenn sie einen langweilt und auch dies ist oft eine reine subjektive Betrachtungsweise. Damit sind wir auch schon bei der eigentlichen Rezession angekommen, denn gerade im Hinblick der Stories hat sich die Serie deutlich verbessert. Tabrett Bethell, wie hier andere Rezessionen bereits treffend bemerkten, als Cara ist eine wahre Bereicherung dieser Staffel und ist in meinen Augen "Hauptschuldige", dass die zweite Staffel noch besser als die Erste geworden ist. Von grottenschlechten Schauspielern oder Machwerk kann hier überhaupt nicht die Rede sein. Subjektivität oder Objektivität hin oder her, wer anderes behauptet, dem kann man nur absolut keine Ahnung bescheinigen, was die Bewertung dieser Rezessionen ja auch gezeigt hat. Die Macher der Serie haben die Literaturvorlage bewußt nur lose als Vorbild benutzt. Dies finde ich sehr gut, denn dadurch wird das Ganze ja auch für die Leser der Bücher sehr interessant und auch ein Vergleich zwischen Buch und Serie erneut ad absurdum geführt. Leider ist diese hervorragende Serie viel zu früh und ungerechtfertigt abgesetzt worden, aber auch dies ist ja nicht das erste mal passiert. Also empfehle ich jedem, welcher gute Fantasy mag, diese Staffel im besonderem Maße bis zur letzten Folge zu genießen, denn so gute Fantasy werdet ihr so schnell nicht wieder, auch nicht im Kino, außer vielleicht den "Kleinen Hobbit" von Peter Jackson wieder erleben. Aber diese Filme von Peter Jackson spielen in einer ganz anderen Liga. Nehmen wir mal als Vergleich den Film Eragon (nicht das Buch) und stellen ihm dieser Serie gegenüber, macht Legend of the Seeker mit weit geringerem Budget absolut nackig :) !

Dal titolo sapevo che la serie era liberamente tratta dal secondo libro Stone of tears della serie The Sword of Truth di Goodkind. Mi e' piaciuta molto la prima serie basata sul primo libro e mi sono buttata sulla seconda. La ragione dell'acquisto e' principalmente fondata sul fatto che la serie The Sword of Truth di Goodkind mi e' piaciuta, almeno I primi tre libri e quindi ero curiosa su come l'avevano resa dal punto televisivo. Gli attori sono affiatati e gli episodi accattivanti. Sebbene la sleeve sia in tedesco, l'audio e' in inglese. Condizioni eccellenti, tempi di spedizione 24 ore, sono molto soddisfatta dell'acquisto.

Para los amantes de las aventuras en un mundo fantástico, esta es la serie ideal. Emocionantísima, con personajes entrañables y atractivos. Me encanta, lastima que solo se hayan hecho 2 temporadas.

Envío rapidísimo, y condiciones perferctas, recomendable 100%. Soy una fan total de la serie, eso sí, el que quiera que se apriete con el ingles o el alemán, porque en castellano no lo he encontrado, por lo demás genial.

If you've watched series 1, you know the type of stuff that will lurke to the screen. I personally find that this series shouldn't have been cancelled because this is a true fantasy TV series which obviously has fantasy elements, romantic elements, emotional elements even a little hit of a horror element in some episodes. After seeing series 1 I was so excited to watch the second series but I was really sceptical of what they will show because it felt like at the end of series 1 there's not much more they could do for series 2 but how wrong was I. I found every episode really fantastic and in some ways better than series 1. Plus with this series a new character is introduced Cara whom appeared at the end of series 1 which I thought was clever. The thing I think make this series one of the best is that they couldn't have chosen anyone better for the parts because when you watch episode to episode. You don't just feel it's a series you are a part of it, it's real in a way. That's how great they are at acting there roles. So therefore I Really don't understand how this series weren't recognised because it's far far underrated which is a real shame because as started it's one of the best shows I've watched and to find out they only made it for 2 seasons was really devastating. Which the similar series Once Upon a time is far more popular than this which I don't understand why because many people compare those 2 series together but this series is an actual fantasy series not just a series that just talks and talks and talks like Once Upon a Time which Is boring but people consider talking non stop fantasy... IF you like that series, watch this one too because you will be amazed how much better and realistic it is. (for the people whom like once upon a time, I'm not trying to say s*** about the series but in my opinion on I Watched 3 episodes and all what happened was talking... just going by evidence) I highly .recommend this series if your a person whom lives fantasy films and series and even if you aren't a fan because before I watched legend of the seeker I couldn't stand the fantasy genre... just five it a try, you won't be disappointed
