Linda Goodman is so much more than an astrologer. She will take your mind on journeys about a Higher Power and natural science
Another favorite Linda Goodman book. While she does write about astrology, she writes about so much more in her books. The breadth of her knowledge on a number of topics is obvious in what she writes about in all her books. While she may have much go say on astrolological things, she also covers a number of other areas to do with science, one's belief set in their choice of a Higher Power, and what she says in her books is, to me, so uplifting from a simply human perspective. Reading her works, sometimes again and again, always uplifts me. She makes me appreciate the universe and what being human is really all about. I always feel more vibrant about life after reading (and rereading) the different sections of her books. I could only hope you would take away the positive take she has on what being human is a about the way I do. If I'm down, her writing lifts me up. If I want to read about things scientific, her writings offer that too. HIGHLY Recommended!

Badly written and built on outmoded gender roles
I picked this book up on the recommendation of a friend who is an astrologer, who said it would be a good source for learning the general energy of the signs. It gets an extra star for being that, at least; but the useful summary was often lost in Goodman's sadly ineffective attempts at evocative prose, which generally read more like the work of an intelligent high schooler than a published author. Compounding this difficulty, the sections dedicated to men and women of each sign have not borne well the shift in gender dynamics that has occurred since the late 60s; literally every "The Sign Man" section treated as normal behavior that I would never tolerate from another person, to a degree that was a bit alarming.Put succinctly, this book does offer some decent ideas for cherry-picking, but it is poorly written and socially backward, and you're probably better off leaving this one in the 60s and looking elsewhere to learn what little it has to teach you.

still relevant after all these years
Three decades ago, I studied this book heavily and could with great accuracy tell someone's sun sign within minutes of talking to them. It's been wonderful to review this and rediscover the truisms it reveals - starting with myself. Self-awareness is a great gift. I would recommend this as an excellent starting point for anyone interested in astrology.

Excellent read
Great book. To me personally, this book was the bridge between my inner feelings and the words that described and help translate those feelings to others. This was a great step towards enlightenment and understanding myself and my own motives as well as my own short comings, and aided my abilities to open up and communicate on a deeper level with my loved ones, as well as helping me navigate the social terrain of work and society and the conflicting attitudes/opinions of those arenas. (I am a hot headed Scorpio 😬). For me, this is a great tool for building self-awareness and confidence.

THE FOREMOST AUTHORITY ON ZODIAC SIGNS
Classic astrology book from the '70s. You'll find none better or more accurate regarding the individual signs. I laughed when I saw myself on every page of my sign's description. If you want to figure someone out, read about them in here. It truly is the only forthright, accurate book you'll find.

very accurate depiction of the signs
I had this book about 27 years ago and I lost it, but I always remember being so accurate, so I bought it again and am enjoying reading all the signs that I come accross.

Like new, as promised!
I had a dog-eared paperback that was my mom's from the 70s, I wanted to replace it and received a beautiful hardbound from this company.SUPER fast shipping and quality of book was as promised, just like new! I am very happy with purchase and would definitely buy from them again.

A classic
This has been the bluechip standard for decades. I've always owned a copy - after a girlfriend threw a copy at me as she walked out the door to our apartment in 1977. I lost may last copy in a divorce. I bought a new copy when I started dating a taurus. I experienced exactly what the book described. I made the mistake of pushing it and getting her angry. Oh my that was an explosion of epic portions. Thankfully we were on opposite sides of the globe. Had we been in the same room I'm sure plates would have been flying. You will not be disappointed if you get this. I've found it to be very accurate but some if it is always a generality that could apply to any zodiac sign. But I tell you this - it was right on about Taurus loyalty and anger reaction. That description in the book is very specific.

A pleasant trip down memory lane
Reading this charming, humanising introduction to astrology provided me with a pleasant trip down memory lane. I first read it when I was fourteen, and at the time, because the reading aids for the visually impaired weren’t as sophisticated as they are now, I preferred books like this that you could dip into for short periods without getting too tired. Now, having more advanced technology and with my original copy falling apart, I re-purchased this along with Linda Goodman’s other books, and read the whole thing from start to finish, giving due weight to each sign. Its appeal lies in its ability to convey the mystery of each sign in an everyday form we can all recognise, from the oddball Aquarian teenager to the doting Cancerian mother, from the bluntly enthusiastic Sagittarius to the gently pernickety Virgo. These personality sketches are just that, of course, and acknowledge the influence of modifying factors in the horoscope; still, I find them engaging, and accurate more often than not. (The other day I was delightfully surprised when a colleague I’d only met twice correctly guessed my Sun sign - and I’m on the cusp, too.). Granted, some of the book’s assumptions are a little outdated - the modern liberation movements hadn’t fully flowered at the time of writing- not to mention the cosmic claims made for the validity of astrology per se, about which I’m a mite more sceptical than at my first reading. But whatever its claims to truth, I found this and similar books an unexpected and appealing entry into what has become a lifelong interest in the human condition and the amelioration of its vicissitudes, which have characterised my professional life. And I still “half believe it true”.

Linda Goodman possibly one of the best astrologers of last century.
If you love all things astrology, then anything by Linda Goodman should be in your collection, being it on your kindle or bookshelf, (personally you can only truly appreciate Linda Goodman in book form IMO) The book was first published around 1970, and to some the references to celebrities and people in the public eye of that time will make the book feel dated, move past that because without a doubt Linda Goodman is possibly one of the best astrologers of last century. Her early death at 70 in 95' remains a great loss for many reasons, however she lives on through her books. Both this one and Love Signs both made The Times bestseller list, unheard of for books on astrology. If you have a keen interest in the subject you prob already have this book, and for the mildly curious, you should def have a copy! Enjoy.

Fantastic book by Linda Goodman, a classic.
I love this book and have had my own copy for many years. It provides a fascinating insight to habitual traits shared by sun signs. Without doubt this is the most comprehensive book on this subject I have ever come across, written it an easy to follow format. You will find yourself amazed many times as you read about each Sun sign and relate the traits to people in your life. Even if you are a skeptic, Linda Goodman's insights will surprise you over and over again. On this occasion I was looking for a copy to give as a gift and found a second hand copy at a reasonable price. Sadly, the copy I received was very tired and worn. The pages were yellowing, and very discoloured, some folded or bent, all of which was not adequately stated by the seller at the point of ordering. Not to worry, it is readable, but I really would have preferred a better copy to give as a gift. So if you are buying to give, as the saying goes 'buyer beware' as this book has been around for a long time the copy you receive may not quite be up to the standard you expect.

Read about people you know, you'll be amazed
Was always skeptical of stuff like this. The first person you read about is usually yourself, and it described me to a tee.I then read up on other people I know and it was weirdly accurate.... Great book
