I did a lot of reading of reviews on various battery-operated motion detector lights. Didn't want a hardwire option and pored over the reviews for size of light, effectiveness and functionality. Have read some very positive reviews and some negative ones, too.In this case, if you want a simple solution that fits almost anywhere you want to put it - mine is above our back door, this is a very cost-effective purchase. It took maybe 15 minutes start-to-finish to put the batteries in, drill and place the casing for the light. The D batteries for the unit do take a little bit of effort to place and secure the cover, but it's neither complicated nor difficult. The motion detector works well and it puts out a good amount of light for the size of the unit.I may get another one for the front over the garage doors, but we do have good street lighting and it may not be necessary. In any event, if you want a simple, cost-effective motion detector light, this is the one for you.

I was worried that for the low price it would be junk but it works as expected. I also worried running on batteries it wouldn't be bright enough but it is just fine. The two lights make a nice wide spread with medium light (more then I expected with only 3 D batteries) Its tough and easy to install. The only downside is it was missing half its screws that hold the battery case but its secure enough. Hopes this helps

I purchased two for my 12x22 condo garage and although they're not quite strong enough to brightly light the whole inside of the garage, they're certainly bright enough that I can see what I'm doing, which is what I was after. The motion sensors have a decent range and are very responsive and the lights swivel in all directions so you can pretty much aim the light anywhere. Super easy to install, although I ended up using my own dry wall anchors because the ones that came with the light didn't have a lip or fins and slid right through the drywall when I put the screw in. Other than than that, no problems.

Great little light. Works as it is supposed to. Very easy to install even on a thick stucco wall. It uses LED bulbs so it is quite bright and does not burn through the 3 "D" batteries quickly. The on and off sensor also works with great accuracy. The light stays on for approximately 10 seconds after you walk out of its range. One of the best benefits of this light is that you do not have to pay to have it hardwired into the wall. I would purchase this item again and recommend it to friends and family.

I love this light. I have purchased several for myself and my daughter. I like that it is battery operated because I needed it in my carport and solar would not do. I didn't want something to plug in either. This is perfect. I have had the first one for months now and the batteries are still working. I use the other one on the back porch. While I have a porch light with a switch; this light comes on automatically when the dog goes out - so I don't have to monitor his movements and run to turn the light on for him. Very happen with this light. It is much brighter than other battery operated lights that I have purchased.

I love this light, it has a motion sensor and it only works when it gets dark, that is amazing. When I read that I laughed because I never heard of a motion sensor light working only when it gets dark. This works fantastic so far, I will write another review in a couple of months.

I had high hopes for this item. It is lightweight and was fairly bright when first installed. It worked well for about 6 months. It was not installed in an area that gets lots of rain. But it stopped working a month ago. I thought the batteries just needed changing. Nope. I changed the batteries and even though there is some condensation inside one of the light housings, they still came on. But only right when you put batteries in. I let it dry completely and tried again, with fresh batteries, and got nothing. The motion sensor does not work anymore. That makes it unusable for me. It's outside the return window, unfortunately, and nowhere on Amazon's site or Google do I find how to deal with a product that becomes defective after a few months. So I now have a useless piece of plastic.
