VIRO Rides Vega 2-in-1 Transforming Electric Scooter & Mini Bike, Green

We bought this for my 8 year old son. He's 80 pounds, thus well under the maximum weight. After following the instructions to charge the battery only lasts about 2 minutes. I've gone through the troubleshooting guide to no avail. I've tried contacting the manufacturer with absolutely no follow up, not even an automated message. This thing is a rip off.

LET ME START WITH THIS: If you want to tighten your handlebars well, ditch the included thin, stamped-metal "wrench" and use a DEEP-WELL 10mm Socket. Or even if you just want to use a good quality wrench, it is 10mm. You are welcome! Now on to the review...We already have a couple of razor electric scooters, so we are familiar with the battery charging routine and have all the cables and chargers. For the most part, our scooters have lived very well and we haven't had any problems with them.So when I saw this novel idea, I was intrigued. I love the idea of my kids learning to ride a "min-bike" of sorts, and this seemed like a neat combo package - electric scooter/electric mini-bike.When it arrived, the packaging was a little intimidating, there were no instructions for assembly really, other than telling you to attach the handlebars and how to switch from scooter, to folded, to min-bike config.No literature on the two large zip ties, one of which is somewhat well-hidden down by the front tire, and a little more difficult to remove than the other. But hey, I figured it out, you probably will too. I'm an instruction reader though, so it bugged me not to have instructions on that part.Also, I'll add this to the top to help out, but the bolts that attach the steering wheel are 10mm and the included, stamped-metal "wrench" is pretty flimsy and difficult to use. I had better luck with a deep-well 10mm socket or a 10mm quality wrench. Just don't over tighten.Now to my complaint. This is advertised as a quick change scooter/mini-bike. The implication is that it can be switched from bike to scooter in a matter of seconds and that an 8 year-old kid could easily do it. I don't believe that is true of most 8 year-olds. In fact, I don't think that most adults would be thrilled about the steps to change it over. The basics aren't too complicated, but it takes some pretty good muscle to manhandle it around to get it from one config to the other and there are a fair number of details in addition to the big steps. I think this is an example of marketing taking liberties with the truth.The truth is, a parent could probably switch back and forth between scooter and mini-bike but the average kid is going to leave it whereever it is when they find it. If it is set up as a mini-bike, I don't see a lot of kids switching it casually over to scooter and back. Maybe I am too demanding, but I feel like it is harder than they make it look in the advertising.Still, all said and done, this is a really neat product. The mini-bike is very neat, and the scooter is a perfectly good scooter too. They both work great. I don't think that I will use the folding feature because it is a lot of work, but it is a nice touch for folks who HAVE to save the space.I'd lean towards 4 1/2 stars really. Just remember that you probably will end up leaving it in one config or the other most of the time.

Nice view but:- Does not meet the specs. Speed and distance around twice lower than stated.- Really tight in the assembly and adjustments.- Extremely noisy in move.- Broken in ~ 10th time of use. Motor disconnected without any strikes and hooks (see picture).Used by 57lb 9 year boy on paved road without serious hills.

First off it is a clever concept and was intrigued on how it converted from standing scooter to sitting scooter. It was easy to assemble but it is really constructed out of cheap material. When riding in the standing form - runs loud, very noisy. The handle bars are really narrow couple with a small front wheel makes it pretty difficult to steer. We ran into a wall in the garage!! In the sitting mode it is worse. You actually put your feet on the pegs connected to the front wheel. It is extremely difficult to control the scooter with your hands (steering wheel) when some of your weight is on the pegs connected directly to the front wheel - really bad engineering on this one.

This scooter was incredibly easy to assemble. Took maybe fifteen minutes to get it out of the box, attach the handlebar, and fold it into the scooter configuration. It even had enough charge for me to try it out a bit before handing it over to the kids.(*Note: This thing is ruggedly built. Though the weight limit is 120 lbs, I suspect that limit has more to do with the battery life than the weight the axles can bear. At 190 lbs, I had no fear of taking it in a small test circle. )Switching between scooter and cycle was easy too. In fact, while it would be a little tough for a child to physically change, my three kids (8, 11, and 13) had no figuring out what had to happen to make the switch. Took only a couple minutes.So far, the kids--particularly my 11-year-old daughter--have loved the thing. Now I only wish I had three of them to avoid any fights. The top speed is just fast enough for them to enjoy, but not so fast this parent gets worried. Though make sure yours wear a helmet!Battery life is dependent on the rider. My daughter can get the better part of an hour of riding time. The charge time doesn't seem to be as long as the 10-12 hours the instructions suggests, which is nice.All in all, a fun motorized device, and a good way to get your kids outside and away from the screens. I recommend it!

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  Wow, this scooter is a ton of fun! It is heavy, however, for an electric scooter--that may be the only downside. But I like that it converts into a mini bike. My 6 year old was able to master the electric scooter quickly, but the seat is a bit high for him when converted to a bike, which would explain the manufacturer's recommendation for ages 8 and up. Operation is very simple. With the scooter powered on, you simply press the throttle with the right hand to go. The harder you push, the faster it goes. There is a hand brake on the left for stopping suddenly, but we've found if you let go of the throttle, the bike slows down to a stop fairly quickly. There are 2 different kick stands, one for use as a scooter and the other for the bike. Converting the scooter to a bike and vice versa requires some practice, particularly since I found that sliding the platform up and down the front handle bar to be very difficult -- it needed more lubricant. But the locking mechanisms were straight forward and not sticky at all. The only assembly required was attaching the handlebars to the front bar, which took less than 5 minutes. We loved it and it fits heights from age 6 up to adult. My picture is of my 12 year old on the scooter.

This product is not what you are lead to believe it barely moves and weighs far too much for a child of what age the product is aimed for. I’ve got this as a Christmas present for my seven-year-old and in the end it was a massive disappointment!! I’m returning and getting my money back!! HOW ON EARTH FO THEY GET AWAY WITH SELLING SOMETHING THAT CLEARLY DOESN'T WORK!! It Is so heavy that the Excelerator doesn’t even work with nobody on it!
