Loved this version of Catan!
So fun! Great theme and love to modifications, especially the spaceship shakers that determine movement or consequences….. trading and resource allocation similar to Catan Settlers, but different enough to invest in this option as well.

Impressive game!
I purchased this for my daughter for Christmas, and we have played it one time when we got together with my other daughter. We are a Catan family and own almost all the expansions and accessories. It was fairly easy to learn, more so for my daughters, than for myself, being of advanced age and a little slower. But, by the end of the game, which I won, by the way, I was able to have a good understanding of the strategy. It is a large board game and requires a lot of room, so it is not for someone with little table space. We look forward to playing again when we get together, and all feel it is so far, our favorite of all the Catan. Love the rockets and all the pieces, which are well made and fit together snugly. Lots of fun, and different than any of the other Catan games, so a great addition to our collection. If you liked the game, Cootie, as a child, you would probably enjoy the fun of accessorizing your rockets. It took us a couple hours to play the first game, because we were learning it as we played, but I think the average game time can range from 30 minutes to an hour.

An Okay Version
A good variation on Catan. Not as good as the Game of Thrones version of Catan, but nice for a change. Seems to go by quickly. Doesn't seem like you get to take advantage of contacting the alien races much before the game is over.

Best Catan Version
As a disclaimer: I’ve only played the original 25th Anniversary version and this one, Starfarers.I initially thought this version was way more complicated and would be difficult to track throughout the game but was pleasantly surprised. It is not ever boring even hours into playing. It has the balance of strategy and luck, much like life, to keep you engaged and enjoying it. Unlike Monoploy, a player far ahead in the game in monopolizing has to consider defenses of colonies and trade stations otherwise can lose victory points to another player.I recommend watching YouTube channels on this game first, then read the instructions. It helps clarify quickly what is what and why. Also, pay close attention to the definition differences of a motherships strength versus speed versus Combat strength. We didn’t understand that until our second time playing it.The game graphics and parts are beautiful and generous. The strategies of the game constantly interesting. It’s worth the price tag.

Had a ton of fun and is very unique. It is a bit more complicated than original Catan.
The media could not be loaded. Starfarers brings a new component into the game, the spaceship. Instead of building roads, you will be upgrading your ship to move further, gain access to alien space stations, and increase firepower. Here are some things to note:- Types of resources and pieces varied in color but is still mostly colorblind friendly.- The quality or the pieces are plastic unlike original catan.-The gameplay varies significantly, it is a much bigger board and there more strategy involved on a personal gameplay level, rather than engaging in conflict with other players.- The speed of the game takes about twice as long as original catan.- My 8 year old brothers played with me so it is easy to learn if you have played OG Catan
