Rust-Oleum301450 Specialty Chalkboard Brush-On Paint, 30 fl oz, Flat Black

I recently used Rust-Oleum 301450 Specialty Chalkboard Paint to transform a wall in my kitchen into a functional chalkboard, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. The application was straightforward; I used a foam roller to apply the paint, which went on smoothly without any streaks. The coverage was impressive, and I was able to coat approximately 95–120 square feet with the 30 oz can, as advertised. After allowing the paint to dry for about 30 minutes, I waited the recommended 24 hours before “conditioning” the surface by rubbing the side of a piece of chalk over the entire area and erasing it. This step is crucial for optimal performance, as it helps prevent permanent marks. The finished chalkboard surface is smooth, scratch-resistant, and erases cleanly with a damp cloth. It’s perfect for jotting down grocery lists, leaving notes, or letting the kids draw. One of the standout features is its versatility. Amazing product, I painted a set of cubbies and this paint came out beautifully. It goes on as a dark blue and dries to a charcoal black. I got chalk markers and it works perfectly and glides on smooth, the can is leak proof and low odor.

We bought a large whiteboard and wanted to have a chalkboard on the back. I bought this Rust-Oleum 301450 Specialty Chalkboard Paint. There was enough to cover the 4’ x 8’ surface twice. It looks nice. I have not used it with chalk however I wanted to let it cure for a while, but I think it will work very well.

You will need more than one coat!! Goes on uneven in some areas as well

Used this can to paint our dining room wall, it needs 2 coats which is understandable. Looks awesome!! Everyone loves it and draws on it when they come in the house

Did a backsplash reno in my kitchen. This chalkboard paint was perfect. Easy to apply, just 2 coats.

I am very pleased with the result of this product after applying 24 hours ago. We had a small chalkboard that has been used for quite some time. The marker-like chalk started to absorb and the magic eraser started taking off the original blackboard coating (my fault, as I used a vinegar spray). I fixed the original board with this paint. Since it had a small frame, i opted for a sponge brush for application. For the first coat, i went horizontally and then vertically, and did the same for the second coat. Even after the two thick coats, the magnetic attribute of the original board was in tact (for which I am pleased because we use magnets also). Excited to have the full cam for other projects.

Every can we got is dented. I wouldn't have shipped 4 cans of paint in a polybag with no protection, but I guess that's just me. I'm surprised none of the cans are leaking.This paint is good, I've used it before. Maybe purchase it from a hardware store instead.
