Good exercises Great instruction
While I will never be able to, or need to play some of the exercises at top speed , it is always nice to pick up new techniques and licks. Always good to have new tools in the tool box , new angles of looking at thingsOo rah

Another in a Great Series of Guitar Instruction
Legato is something that I've always been comfortable incorporating into my playing, at least my understanding of legato. It was passable. Recently, I was looking at some runs from some of my favorite songs from childhood and realized that I am actually very limited in the way I'm able to execute certain legato passages, having to rely more on picking where I shouldn't be and vice versa. So far, this book is like the several other books from this series. It takes a concept, provides context, breaks it down, teaches you how to develop the technique and provides backing tracks and examples to help guide you. For someone who prefers to learn and practice by doing, this is the way. Halfway through the book, I have noticed a big difference in my playing and the result is much cleaner and efficient. Highly recommend.

Useful (and different) technique book
I like the book and use it with one of my students. I wish it had, inside the book, more direct application to certain tunes, or certain solos

Excellent book for studying the legato technique
Chris Brooks provides a comprehensive guide to the legato technique. The book is well written and the examples are carefully selected to represent all possible applications of legato playing. My first guide into the legato technique was Richie Kotzen's REH video Rock Chops (1989 or 1990). That video was well ahead of its time, I must say, and to this day it is a challenge to go through it. [I should also mention Brett Garsed's instructional video.] Chris's book is, in my opinion, a modern version of that lesson. The technique has substantially evolved since then, and it is very nice to see players like Chris pushing it further. I would recommend buying this book as an essential toolkit for rock and fusion guitar players. Congratulations on the book!

Exactly what my playing needs right now.
The techniques in this book are not only accessible , but incredibly effective. This is the most rapid improvement to my playing that I've experienced in a long time. I've been struggling with shred type lessons, with very slow improvement for a long time now. This book is the exact insight my playing needs right now. I couldn't be happier.

Very thorough book on legato technique and using it musically
Chris Brooks is an awesome musician and educator and this book does not disappoint! Its a very thorough coverage of the subject and highly recommended for all levels of guitar players. Personally I am a beginner so its a great tool for me to learn how to create melodic legato passages based on the ideas and exercises in the book. If you want to use legato in your soloing, you should get this book!

Simply the best
First heard about the author from his YngWay video course, I own most of his video courses and books, its well writen material, very coherent. Chris definitly knows what he is doing and will guide You in the world of his unbelivble technique, and You will never get lost. You can master and apply his concepts on legato technique(and he's got more books on picking and sweep picking). One of the best tutors if not the best, highly recommended

most comprehensive legato training book i've seen
Fundamental Changes and Chris Brooks consistently produce top-notch work. this book has no shortage of legato work to challenge your fingers and brain. from basic warm-ups (but even these aren't your run of the mill warm-ups!) to septuplets and divisions of 7 and 9 note-groupings per beat, these seemingly endless ideas will keep you busy for awhile. I consider legato to be one of my strengths and STILL find this book endlessly valuable.

An essential for any guitarist
I've been following a Chris on Instagram for a long time, where he often posts short but effective guitar lessons, tips and demonstrations; this book offers all that, and so much more. The book is well-written and clearly structured, so well that guitarists of any level can simply jump in and find a new lick, exercise or tip to enhance their playing. This book focuses on legato technique. For beginners the technique is broken down into all of the core components they need to get started, and more experienced players will also find in-depth mechanics that they can use to improve upon their existing technique. The hundreds of licks and exercises are thoroughly explained and leaves no room for confusion. After just a few pages I found the licks easy to organically integrate into my own playing and improvisation.I'd recommend this book to players of all styles and experiences- simply put, this book will make you a better guitarist and musician.

Seems to jump in assuming you're a legato virtuoso from page one.
I'm not a beginner but I was disappointed with this book, I expected to be taken back to first principles and slowly enhance my skills. But the very first chapter and exercise seemed to assume a level of ability that I'd hoped this book would put me on the path to.

Excellent book for those looking to enhance their legato playing
This book is great for players looking to develop their legato technique. Topics include guitar tone, hand positioning, fretting and picking mechanics as well as providing absolutely loads of examples (150+) including three note per string sequences as well as those built around arpeggios and chromaticism. Following on from the lessons about building the correct technique, the example licks progress in difficulty at a very approachable pace so you don't feel overwhelmed or put off.Whilst a basic understanding of modes would be helpful for putting the examples to use and adapting them for use in different contexts, this isn't absolutely necessary as for each lick it is indicated which chord it fits over, e.g. Doran scale licks over minor chords, Mixolydian over dominant seven chords. There's so many examples it's the kind of book that you'll return to again and again and I'd definitely recommend it for all players looking to develop their legato technique. Even proficient players simply looking for a few more licks will find the book really useful.

The holy grail of developing legato technique
I'm so happy with this book. I'd got so far developing my legato technique with instruction from various sources and have got past many of the beginner issues such as using force/tension to overcome inaccuracy and effective muting technique, but I was stuck at a certain level of development - and far away from my goal of being able to improvise with fast legato lines ala Satriani etc. It's early days, but I can see those issues being solved as I work through this book.

A great Systematic Booking to buld up you Legato technique and Concepts
I had high-hopes for this one based on Chris's past releases and this didn't disappoint. A through and systematic review of legato as well as the major areas focus on the little details (which are key and often ignored). A must for an intermediate or advanced player to build up some monster techniques and concepts and patterns.
