Fantastic
I recently purchased these straighteners after my Nicky Clarke DesiRed pair broke after 7 years. They are fantastic. I found the instructions for the steam function a little vague but that is the only negative thing I have to say about these straighteners. they leave my hair soft and shiny instead of frazzled. Just as good as other 'well known brands' at a fraction of the price. 10/10

Annoying lay out of control buttons.
Not bad but i can't say these are better than my GHD's.The steam function is OK but not as powerful as i imagined they would be.Gorgeous yellow colour and the ease of use is good however i find the buttons to change the temp annoying because i keep accidently switching the straightners off while holding them.If not for the annoyance of the switch these would be so much easier to use but to be honest i am finding the buttons annoying as hell so went back to the GHD's.

They are steam
I didn’t know you put water in them, but they are really good and still straighten hair well

Definitely an Upgrade from the old GHDs
Heats up quickly the steam function works well no leaks as of yet which we're impressed with, definitely an upgrade from the old ghds.

Strongly disappointed
So what can I say about these straighteners.... I normally use ghd straighteners but they are about 12 years old. I ordered these for when the inevitable happens. However I am severely disappointed!First of all the steam feature doesn’t feel right using it on straighteners and it drips out of the plates. I didn’t overfill the little water tank through nerves so I know it wasn’t too full. I feel like the steam was of no benefit, was literally a gimmick. There is a button inside of the straighteners which activates the steam when you press the plates closed, however it only works intermittentlyThe heating takes a long time to get to temperature, roughly 90-120 seconds. The actual setting up of the straighteners and instructions are so easy to follow, however the performance really lets them downThe plates need to be held together quite tightly or your hair slips out and doesn't straighten, but it’s worst feature... it kept pulling at my hair! I can only assume this was because of the holes to release the steam or on the button which releasing the steam.. either way it didn’t fill me with confidence that any split ends I may have weren’t going to be yanked out. I keep my hair in very good condition so I can’t imagine what these would do for someone who was concerned about their condition.Would not recommend in a million years!

They warm up extremely quickly so don't leave them unattended
The steam helps with thicker hair

Is the Relatively High Temp of 235°C Going to Give Me Better Hair?
I do like this straightener, though I do have an issue with it; as it contradicts the scientific research.Apparently, according to research, the optimum higher temperature limit to heat hair is 185°C - any higher than that, doesn't make your hair any straighter. Rather, it causes irreversible damage to the follicles, consequentially making it brittle and break easily over time. It's also shown to fade colour. Especially if your normal routine is heavily reliant on heated stylers. If you have fine hair, then due to the width of your individual hair follicles, it is more at risk from heat damage. The same goes for coloured or bleached hair too: as this treatment breaks down the protective barrier of the hair shaft.Generally the thicker your individual follicles, the more it can withstand heat styling - but the end result over time, is still drier, frizzier hair. The only solution to which is to grow out the damage. The steam setting is something I haven't tried before, I quite like this addition though I don't know the longterm effects of steaming along with a very hot plate. In my trial (on the lowest setting!), I found that the steam did make my hair look smoother, sleeker and shinier.Of course, no heat styler is perfect. By definition, heat styling isn't as healthy for your hair as naturally drying. This is common knowledge..but who sticks to safety when it comes to fashion?!I also own some GHDs - they auto-regulate their straighteners, so that the temperature doesn't go beyond the optimum 185°C.Just to round off, heat styling above 18°5C causes irreversible damage overtime apparently. The only solution to which is to grow out the damage. The length of time your hair is tolerant to the heat is totally dependent on your follicles and also any salon treatments you've had to it. This is why im left a bit baffled about the well publicised 235°CI would say that my GHDs - which self-regulating at 185°C - are better for my hair in the long run, that's if I follow the research.Though Nicky Clarke have a great steam system on this styler. It's a lot cheaper and I love the summery colour. Therefore 3 stars.
