This variety grows in a similar way to Green globe but produces purple Artichokes that have a finer flavour. It will produce a good crop of Artichokes throughout late summer after its first year. If left to fully develop the Artichokes turn in to beautiful purple thistle like flowers. Sow the seeds From March - April in trays/pots or Sow outdoors in April. Once large enough to handle plant out at 1 metre intervals. Do not harvest in the first year. The plants should keep producing for up to and in some cases longer than 4 years.
