A guide towards successful gardening!
Gardening is a very healthy hobby, on so many levels. It promotes physical health, mental health through relaxation and satisfaction, and better nutrition. I’ve been planting my own vegetables and fruits that are classified as “annuals”. On the other hand, there are also plants and vegetables that are classified as "perennials". Perennials don’t need re-seeding for they grow back year after year. The book really encouraged me to start planting perennial vegetables. The stated benefits are very alluring.Proper planning and research are the keys to successful perennial vegetable gardening. If you’re like me, who’s planning to start a perennial garden then this book is perfect for you. It has lots of very useful tips that can absolutely guide you towards successful gardening.Perennial plants are not limited to vegetables only. It also includes a wide assortment fruits, herbs and flowers. Using all the information given by this book, growing and taking care of perennial fruits, herbs and flowers will just be easy like perennial vegetables.

Random thoughts, no depth
Little to no useful content. A small paragraph or two about each of the perennials, but no in depth info about any. What zone are each hardy to? How do each Taste? Also, the sections on hydroponics and canning are woefully lacking in content. (Why are those sections even in this book?)It is like the author randomly wrote down some ideas, but couldn't be bothered to research those ideas.

HIgh level Wiki info, no personal observations, tips or photos
This book contains a paragraph about 23 perennial vegetables. In addition to vegetables it has a section on fruits and herbs. The descriptions are very high level, no description of taste, personal observations to make it different from Wikipedia, comments specific to different grow zones and hardiness, or how to expand grow seasons. The book has no pictures of the vegetables. In addition to vegetable the content is expanded by having section unrelated to growing vegetables but also on food preservation, such as canning, salting, smoking. It just gives you an very high level idea of these preservation methods (a paragraph), you would need additional research/books to actually do it.Ali Julia review

Overly simplistic instructions like "to grow this
I waited a month to comment on this as I was so angry to have paid for something very poorly written with very little really helpful info. Typos or inaccuracies on nearly every page. Overly simplistic instructions like "to grow this, plant one in the soil and water it". I'm not kidding. Little to no mention of what hardiness zones a plant will work in, he considers potatoes and garlic perennials, (how is that a plant once and harvest year after year?), and there are barely 14 pages of actual vegetable varieties before he goes off on exotic fruits and herbs and aquaculture and how to can or freeze, not the kind of information I was looking for at all. I found out more online in 10 minutes that I did reading this whole book. Sorry Chris, this is the worst review I have ever given anybody, but I don't think people should pay for this.

Great intro book
Fantastic introduction on perennial vegetables. After going through the book, I feel more confident in being able to garden. I wouldn't go into this blindly. I'd look at all angles if you really want to get good quality produce. Some might just buy seeds at the nearby gardening store and just water, but there are some factors to consider, and I do encourage anyone looking at this review to just simply get the book. Its pretty beneficial.

New Beginnings
I found this book to be very interesting. Many perennial plants, I have never heard of. I am starting simple with asparagus. Great learning tool. Happy gardening!

Scant on topic, full of waffle.
I was so disappointed with this book. It merely scratches the surface of the subject, actually listing very few perennial vegetables, then stuffing the book with all sorts of common gardening knowledge that you can get from any gardening book, presumably to get the page count up and thereby fool the potential reader. I got cross in the end and didn't actually finish it. It seems to be written without any real passion for the subject, and has the feel of a "get rich quick" book. I have to say that in all the downloads of this sort of book I have only found two which rate any more than one star.If you want to know about the subject I would join some of the Facebook groups and get your knowledge from people who actually practice this sort of gardening.

Waste of money
I would not recommend anyone buys this book. The envelope it came in is more use to me.The information about perennial veg was very limited no list of seed suppliers. My quest to find out new info about perennial veg will have to take another direction. This book is not even worth shelf space.

Three Stars
Disappointing amount of vegetables in this book compared to others. Get Martin Crawford or Eric Toensmeier's books if you are interested in perennial vegetables, and you should because they are amazing and unsung!

One of the worse books I read on Gardening
No solid information, no solid editing. The author explains from an American perspective, that Perennial vegetables were overlooked by Europeans arriving on the continent and bringing their gardening habits with them. Then he lists the most important species, all non American, but either of Eurpean origin or having been cultivated by the Romans in Europe. Many vegetables are in fact annuals or perennials depending on the region you grow them. Serious authors describe them as 'grown as annuals' in regions with cold winters. But there are also plants that can only be grown in cold season on areas with hot summers. This author does not understand the definition of perennial, mixing bushes and trees freely into his concept. I stopped reading the book when he started about growing plants in liquid. Whenever serious information is needed, he sends you to serious internet research. I could have started Google without paying for this book
