Update: still in love with this machine and it gets used multiple times daily! I will add that the drip basin underneath should be emptied and wiped often to avoid mold growing from coffee drips (I thought my husband cleaned it since he uses it most.. haha.. when I checked after probably two weeks it was pretty gross my fault).This Kitchenaid Nespresso machine is fantastic! I bought it because I had one in my room on a cruise and LOVED it. (I am not normally a coffee drinker).This machine looks very elegant and expensive. I am surprised that for a similar price to other plastic machines, this machine is all metal construction. It is solid. It is heavy. It is quality.It warms and brews quickly and makes delicious espresso. Livanto is my favorite roast so far. I have also used Cafe Joe off brand with no problems (make sure you look for original line compatible NOT vertuo). The machine is a bit noisy while it brews, but so was the machine on the ship and it’s only for a few seconds. Coffee shops are loud too.Some reviews mention the plastic water tank is hard to remove. Do NOT force it. Instead of yanking the handle and breaking it, I pulled the handle then grabbed the top of both sides and tilted it out. (In the instruction video the jug goes in and out tilted, not straight). It fits snug, yes. However, after removing a few times to make sure it didn’t get stuck, mine was perfect.Just to be sure, I looked at the latches on the machine that hold the water canister in place (photo: two little clips underneath the top where the jug sits). I gently pushed on each to allow more give for the canister. Perfection!

This machine makes a great cup of espresso. I've owned many types of espresso makers over the years, from the very basic to the elaborate and they have all worked with varying degrees of quality and hassle. This machine, however, is perfect in every way. Solid build, beautiful in the kitchen, easy to use and hardly any mess. It reaches temp in under 30 seconds and your espresso is ready in another 20 seconds, so you have your espresso in under a minute. Yes, you have to buy the Nespresso cups, but it will still be way cheaper than going to Starbucks. The frother is also a great machine and extremely quiet. It is quiet and froths your heated milk in about the same time it takes to draw your espresso (about 20 seconds). Note that this is only a frother and does not heat the milk as well, which is fine by me as I can heat the right amount of milk in the microwave in about 30 seconds while the machine is heating, then froth and brew and be ready to sit back and relax in about a minute without a cleaning hassle afterwards.

It,s extremely disappointing when You spend the extra money for premium products only to get less than acceptable service. I bought this expresso maker to simplify my morning routine and this is anything but. Right out of the box I would never know if I would be able to make coffee or just watch flashing lights and unplugging is the only way to stop it. Not to mention many $17 cleaning solution. I should have returned it immediately but I kept thinking it was me, It is not. I was in and out of the hospital for radiation and chemo and a $400 coffee maker was not my highest priority. Now that treatment has leveled off I will have to see what Kitchenaid customer service is likeWhen the machine works the coffee is excellent and it looks great next to my matching mixer and D/W

Omg. This has taken our coffee game to a whole new level. Ignore any negative reviews about this machine. It is a heavy duty solid machine and I find that refreshing. This is not some cheap piece of plastic just waiting to collapse on your counter top. This is a seriously heavy piece of machinery that brews a fine cup o joe. Every time we go to Europe I tell my husband that I’m buying an espresso maker when we get home. This year I did and after researching the pros and cons of each for weeks, this was my choice.True, it is louder than a traditional coffee pot but that is to be expected with an espresso machine. Nature of the beast however, I don’t think it’s that loud. I was certainly expecting worse after reading reviews.Next, people said it was hard to drop capsules in correctly. This isn’t rocket science. It’s the easiest thing and you’ll have no issues unless you’re one of those rare birds that refuses to empty the spent canister container when it’s full.Last, you may find yourself drinking a whole more coffee. We sure have. Making all those fun barista drinks is a cinch now.I’ve found best prices for capsules on Nespresso.com. And thanks to my new addiction I order frequently. You won’t have a second of regret. Order. Drink. Enjoy.
