STOCKMARWax Stick Crayons - 8 Colors

We already own the 16-color set of Stockmar Beeswax Crayons - and overall, we have loved them. So when my daughter's preschool required her to bring her own set of 8 crayons to school, I decided not to skimp, and get her the best.Stockmar crayons are unlike the usual cheap petroleum-based crayons you buy in the store. The colors are incredibly vibrant. The red - one of my favorites - isn't just red like you get in a box of Crayolas, it's this deep, intense, velvet color. The same is true of the other colors to varying degrees, the red, blue and purple being the best in the tin.I like that they're made in Germany and I feel safe with my kids handling them on a daily basis, that they're made of beeswax. And I'll tell you unlike Crayolas, these actually smell pleasant, and not overwhelming. We do own some Crayolas, and I find I can hardly take the smell. To me, they smell even stronger than when I was a kid. The beeswax smell, on the other hand, is mild.The Stockmar crayons are really thick - a generous size - and easy to grasp for little hands just learning to color and draw.However, what I like most about this set of crayons in comparison with Stockmar's larger sets, is that there is no real guesswork when it comes to the colors. Even though the names of the colors are all in German, the 8 sticks are different enough that they'd be impossible to confuse with one another. In the larger 16-pack, we often confused colors like true red, with the brown-red, because the color of the stick was too similar. Especially once the girls had torn the labels off the crayons, telling them apart is nearly impossible unless you are in really bright light, or you'd find out once you began to draw. As similar as some of the sticks look in the larger pack, the colors on the paper were drastically different.Overall, I would highly recommend these over any other crayons on the market. They're much nicer, completely safe, manufactured in a reputable country, and very long lasting. Our first set is only halfway through its life after countless hours of coloring and drawing over a two-year span.

These crayons are so vibrant and they come in a cute little tin. My little one loves coloring with these and they are perfect for their small hands. They’re pretty sturdy, they have been dropped quite a few times from table height onto the hard floor, and they’re still in good shape. The only thing I can say is that I wish there was a pink colored crayon. Other than that, they are great for a first set of crayons.

Nice eco friendly beeswax crayon. Thankfully made in Germany with a higher set of safety rules. Vibrant colors. Fat grip easy for small hands. Lovely box to keep them from getting lost, especially due to being pricey! They do not clean well tho if marked on walls and such so keep an eye on them. :)

These are seriously the best crayons ever! I got these for my son's second birthday and they are seriously amazing. We've had countless boxes of crayola and other brands of crayons, and they always break! These do NOT break. It would seriously take a lot of strength to break them. They also color beautifully - I even enjoy coloring with them. Definitely worth the money. I want to buy the set of 16 now, and I'm sure they'll last us for years.

This is a nice basic set of crayons, and a good starter set for very young children. I chose these since they are made with beeswax, though not 100%. I know my little one will try to chew them at this age. I did a lot of research prior to buying them and I believe they are more non-toxic than most crayons. They have a nice texture and concentrated pigment for crayons - better than your average crayon for sure. I like the tin storage box as well. The only drawback is they are pretty expensive in comparison to your typical crayon, but you definitely get more quality for the money.

"We have really good crayons and they're covered with beeswax so they color really well, and I love them! Oh, and I color with them every day!" I thought I would include my daughter's perspective since coloring is her favorite activity--she can spend a couple of hours every day coloring. She uses every crayon we give her, be it dollar store, Rose Art or Crayola. When she began coloring with these, she thanked me profusely. Repeatedly. Now, I drew a few things with these and thought they were decent. But, I have never been too troubled with regular crayons so, maybe my opinion doesn't count.But if my little color-er notices a big difference, maybe the crayon-lover in your life will notice a difference, too.The tin is excellent to store the eight crayons in and makes them seem a bit more special than regular crayons. It also protects them from getting stepped on and broken, which would be disappointing given the cost. When these run down eventually, I will probably buy another box.Note: attached is a picture drawn with these crayons--it was drawn in a hurry ("Before Daddy gets home!") but it shows a few of the shades of color.

I bought these crayons for my 14 month old. He prefers these to other crayons. They have great color intensity with very little pressure. I wish I would have bought the square ones instead but now that he is almost two he loves these crayons and can use them easily. They are also thicker than an average crayon which is good for little hands.
