Easy solution for kids who forget to close doors
I bought these to put on the door leading from my home into the garage, because my kids have this horrible habit of leaving the door open, even after telling them countless times. My older son is on the autism spectrum and has an especially hard time with this for some reason. My home was built with standard six-panel pre-hung doors like you find at Home Depot and Lowes, with standard 4" hinges. It's important to know that there are two hole patterns for this type of hinge, but that most pre-hung doors match the pattern on these, with "zig-zag" holes from top to bottom. Be sure to inspect your hinges before you order, though, just to be certain.Installation was an absolute breeze. With a cordless drill I took one hinge off the door in seconds, put one of these in its place (and it fit perfectly!) and a few seconds later I was done, then I moved on to the other hinge. I replaced the top and bottom hinges, and was careful to replace only one at a time, so that at all times there were two hinges on the door to hold it upright.Once the hinges were installed I closed the door, inserted the included hex wrench into the top of the first hinge and wound to the third hole setting and inserted the pin. I repeated for the second hinge, and the job was done. For the moment of truth, I opened the door 90 degrees and let it go. The two hinges promptly closed the door, a little harder than I would normally close by hand but not hard enough to be a slam. Next, I tried it from the 45-degree position, and the door closed with just enough force to push the latch into the threshold to latch.External doors have padded insulation around the frame which should require a little extra push to force a good seal, so if the third hole doesn't cause your door to latch here, adjust one of the hinges to the fourth hole, and then the other one if necessary. These hinges seem very well made, and are visually indistinguishable from ones at the big brand stores that cost literally 2x as much. I actually like the finish of these better than a popular brand I purchased for another door, and will be ordering another pair of these to "foolproof" my front door from my kids and the other kids in my neighborhood. Hopefully this will reduce the number of opportunities for flies and mosquitoes to get into my home. Time will tell.

A simple and elegant solution to a continual problem
I have continued to purchase these self closing hinges once I tried the first set. They fit exactly and I merely installed one hinge at a time with someone just holding the door knob so the door stayed close to door frame. The adjustment feature is a winner as over time if I want to adjust the tension its just a 10 second fix. Realize that it won't "slam" most doors shut (at least with our old painted doors). I am on my fourth set, going around the house changing them. Also just a note these come with rounded ends, so if you can't stand a little of the old hinge placement showing you should consider this. But that would be a bit much since you can't see edges when the door is closed. Great product.

Easy to Install
The media could not be loaded. The first time I receivedt these hinges, they were missing the lock pins. I thought the price was very reasonable and did not want a refund, just an exchange. After receiving another set, I was able to install them within ten minutes. I’m very happy with this purchase. I only gave it 4 stars because I haven’t had them long enough to see how quickly they’ll wear out.

Fits well.
Arrived a day early .Fit just like the originals I replaced .When you are working in the snow ,nice not to deal with problems .Five minutes total with the door open .Two minutes total indoors, adjusting the spring tension ,using the directions that came with the hinges. The brushed nickel plating is more attractive than the corroded brass ones that were replaced .I bought them because the kids kept leaving the door open and I didn't want the dog to run off .Works for that and would assume to meet code on your fire door.

Not the best
Better keep the instructions from Amazon handy because these brilliant guys managed to write instructions on the box and then put their label on the top of it. Also, the holes in the hinges do not align perfectly, so it's a chore to put the pins in.

Great quality, easy install & setup
My cat had a tendency to go into the guest bathroom and eat the shower curtain. Why he likes this I don’t know but I needed a solution. Buying new shower curtains every month is a no go, so we went with a spring hinge. This does the job 100%. I was able to install it and configure the tension for the weight of the door within 10 minutes. Our shower curtains are safe and in a happy customer.
