Great for all-day programming
I work as a software developer and one of my colleagues suggested a mechanical keyboard. After some research I settled on the das keyboard with the MX Brown switches, and I couldn't be happier. I've never used a mechanical keyboard before and I can't believe what I've been missing. This keyboard is amazing to type on. I should also say that I haven't historically liked this style of keyboard, where the keys are significantly raised and require a more significant press to activate, over the Apple low profile style. This keyboard is the exception though, because the keys require what seems to be less pressure than is typical of this style. This is my first mechanical keyboard though, so they could all be like this... Note to those that work in cubicles: I would definitely suggest buying this model (rather than the one with MX blue or "clicky" keys), since I think it would be annoying to my coworkers if my typing was any louder than it is with this keyboard. I haven't received any complaints with this model yet... Pros: Great typing feel (very fast and precise) Quiet enough to use in an office of cubicles Great build quality Cons: A little pricey (but worth it!) Slightly more prone to typing errors (for now), but this could also be me adjusting from the apple low profile keyboard I used before. Hope this helps!

Das Thank you
Switching from a Roccat keyboard that gave me a ton of issues over the past year of use. Keys would randomly stop working. Enter, backspace not to mention the weird capslock set up. Basically that keyboard doesn't have a capslock. All around not worth the price. However. This keyboard. Worth the price. At first I was skeptical for $140. I was worried I'd be let down. Pros: It's straight plug and play. No drivers or need to setup. It feels nice, great mechanical keyboard. Fast response, no unnecessary gimmicks or keys. One year warranty with copy of receipt. Feels very sturdy. Doesn't take up a bunch of space. Cons: Now I don't really count them as cons. But if I would have known this before hand, I wouldn't have ordered with Amazon. If you order directly from the daskeyboard website, you get a 3 year warranty, instead of 1 that you get here on Amazon. Also if you're military, you get free shipping and 15% off. If you have animals, be aware that the keyboard finish will allow hair to stick to it. Does come with a cleaning cloth that fixes that problem quickly. In short, I'd buy again. But from the manufacturers website. 3 years vs 1 year warranty can make a huge difference.

The best MX Brown Keyboard you can buy
I purchased this keyboard to replace my generic Dell membrane keyboard at work. I do a lot of data entry, and wanted something smoother and crisper and much more pleasurable to type with. I settled on the DAS with MX Brown switches because of the legendary build quality. The keyboard is very well built, very heavy and sturdy. The switches are solid and precise and not too loud. The keycaps are a fantastic texture, smooth but enough texture so your fingers don't slip. Everything is well laid out and perfect for me. The media keys are actually functional and I do use them. The only downside to this otherwise perfect keyboard is the finish on the body. It's a very high gloss, much like a piano, and shows every speck of dust and every fingerprint. I've babied this keyboard and it already has many tiny scratches, only viewable from the right angle. Since my desk isn't in the sunlight, I don't mind the finish issues, but for OCD types or people who like everything to be perfect and spotless, this keyboard might be a little frustrating for you.

Profession Keyboard for a Life-time gamer
Overall Review/Thoughts: I bought this keyboard roughly 2-3 months ago and so far it is the best overall keyboard i have used. The Day Keyboard is a Cherry MX Brown key switch so it is quiet while still giving the satisfying "click" feel that lets you know you've pressed the key. This keyboard will make you a better, faster typist bottom line. The keys are fairly light to fully depress so be warned if your coming from a Cherry Black keyboard because you will make mistakes learning not to pound on your keys (my biggest initial problem with the keyboard), but once you master a lighter touch this keyboard is a dream to type or game on. Despite being full sized keyboard with an included num pad, the keyboard is fairly slim and small. Coming from a keyboard like a Azio Levetron (the one i had directly before this one) is seems tiny in comparison and i did find it a tad cramped for about a week while my "typist stance" adjusted to a smaller keyboard but now it feels quite full. On to the actual keys; good news is they are well spaced, perfectly sized, and have a comfortable layout for typing or gaming. The function keys are offset from the number keys, but are nicely grouped into sets which makes finding them without looking much easier. This keyboard does have media keys which are accessed with a Fn+F key press which is simple and keeps the keyboard smaller than other keyboards with dedicated media keys. Overall this keyboard is very well made and is extremely comfortable. It however does have a few issues that keep it from being a true 5-star keyboard. 1)despite Das touting their "laser-etched keys" which are supposed to make it resistant to fading, my WASD keys are already starting to show minor fade after only 3 months. For such an expensive keyboard they should still be there for years to come and mine feel like in a year i wont be able to see them. 2) this is more of a personal thing but i dislike gloss keyboards and this puppy is super-high gloss. dust, dirt, fingerprints, ect show all the time and it needs cleaning almost weekly to keep it from looking like a hobo decided to sleep on it. 3) there is no macro keys on this what-so ever. i know its not technically a "gaming" keyboard but i feel like they should at least have a model that has them, as a huge gamer and someone who plays World of Warcraft a row of macro keys would be a very nice addition. 4) no wake function. you cannot wake up your computer from sleep mode by pressing a key on it, small complaint i realize but with it have a fn key to put it to sleep, why not have it wake from a space bar press? again minor complaints. Pro's: 1)very clean design 2)dream to type on 3)sturdy design 4)media keys 5)will make you a faster, better typist Con's: 1)Super high gloss 2)keys fade easy 3)sleep mode Final Thoughts: The reason i cant give this a 5 star really comes down to price, for 140 bucks is a bit plain and because the keys do seem to fade fairly fast i feel you should just get more from it, no macro keys,headphone/mic jack onboard ,ect, and yet despite this i still would recommend this keyboard over many other simply due to how well it feels to type on it.

I'm very happy with this keyboard
This keyboard is my first wired, mechanical keyboard since the early 2000's. The minute I started typing on it, it brought back pleasant memories of my old, heavy IBM keyboard. I am an auditor and a programmer, meaning I type either work papers or source code 8-10 hours a day. I use the F-keys all the time, I know all the Windows shortcuts, and it makes me furious when my my keyboard louses those up in any way. This keyboard has a back-to-basics layout that makes all those keying habits work out again, before F-keys became tiny chicklets whose action defaulted to shortcuts I didn't intend to be using. The action on this keyboard (Cherry MX Brown switches) is great. The keyboard is loud--nearly as loud as the Cherry MX Blue keyboard, I gather from YouTube videos--but it is not terrible. The definitive action and the spacing and uniform size and shape of the keys help me type quickly and accurately. Before purchasing the keyboard I read some criticism about how the spacebar feels on this keyboard. The truth it, it does feel a little mushier than the other keys. It doesn't bother me in the least, however. My thumb bounces off it, and the action feels very natural to me. This keyboard's heft keeps it in place on my desk nicely. It's lack of lighting is actually one of the reasons I purchased it--it has one less thing to break on it. The integrated USB hub is a nice touch, though it does necessitate two USB ports to be used on the PC. Overall, this is a great keyboard and worth the investment if you type all day as I do.

Mushy spacebar
The keyboard is great but there is one critical flaw - the spacebar is mushy. Since it's probably the most often-used key on the keyboard, I'm amazed that they didn't get it right. When I first received the keyboard, I immediately noticed the spacebar issue before I plugged it in. I asked my girlfriend to try it and she noticed the same thing. It's hard to describe - just a general mushiness. It doesn't click like the other keys, and it doesn't bounce back as fast as the other keys. I decided to replace it, but I wasn't optimistic because I saw similar reviews with the same results. Still, I was hoping it was just an issue with my specific keyboard. I received the replacement today, and although the spacebar is better, it's not where I'd expect it to be. It's mushy when you press on it towards the outsides, and only 'clicky' when you press on it in the middle. Every time I get on a roll, the space bar throws me off. I'm not going to mess with it anymore - I'm returning this second keyboard for a refund and ordering a Filco. 5/16/13 update: The Filco is performing just fine. A little more expensive, but has a consistent feel.

Fabulous keyboard. My problem is fixed.
This is my third or 4th DAS keyboard so I am an otherwise happy customer. The keyboard i ordered is superb in every respect. Mine is a mechanical model with keys that click. It has great auditory and tactile feedback when typing fast. I cannot say enough good things about this keyboard. For unusual reasons I have three new ones! I had an usual problem; the keyboard was not recognized when I boot my Windows 10 computer. I had to unplug the USB cable and plug it back in, every time I turned on my computer. Finally I got help from DAS. My previous harsh evalutation was somewhat unjustified. Had they had a phone number published they would explain the problem: they were having trouble with hotmail emails due to a Microsoft company server issue. My startup problem turned out to be Windows 10. It is probably the fast startup option which for some reason I cannot fix despite the online help. The solution was to install a hub. then plug the keyboard into the hub. It works. SUCH a relief, all thanks to the DAS keyboard help expert who called me.

No-frills, high-quality, perfect for people who type a lot!
The keyboard has a heavy base, so it does not move or rattle even when you type very fast, with all fingers. The keys are light and require minimum effort to press, and it has incredibly fast onscreen response. It has further enhanced my already-fast typing speed due to the extreme accuracy of keystrokes and the quick response. Each keystroke makes a sharp click sound, and you do feel the slight clicking sensation as well, but there is no 'feedback' on your fingers or wrists beyond the actual touch. The clicking noise is quite loud, though, and may disturb others in the room. This, according to me, should let you decide if you want to purchase the "Quiet" model instead. The keyboard has two USB ports on the right side, which you can use to connect your mouse / external disk drives / cellphone. The 6+ ft cable is more than sufficient to reach even distant desktop units. The keyboard has a glossy body, which is very attractive, but scratch-able unless wiped with soft cloth (included with the package) like spectacle lens cleaners. It looks like a retro-keyboard, and is compact in terms of placement of keys close to each other, and smallish Shift, Enter, Space etc. keys. It does not have a wrist support system at the base-end, and may require you to purchase a wrist rest, like I did. It can be raised up using the two rear bottom props. It does not have any Windows shortcut / PC management keys, scroll-wheels and stuff, but has audio management keys using the Fn buttons. My previous keyboard was an exceptionally durable, much-loved (and abused) Microsoft Wireless Elite Model No 1011, which I used for 5+ years before shifting to upgrade hardware. I was recommended Das by my super-tech-savvy brother because of its quality and focus on no-nonsense typing (since I have to type for 6 - 9 hours daily). It's been a truly exception upgrade in experience and productivity.

Great keyboard for office use
I love the Das Keyboard, but only ever buy the ones with the Blue switches as I prefer the clickiness. However, putting one at my desk would probably be an effective means of putting in notice. Enter this one with the brown switches. It's much quieter, but still provides a very good feel for typing. Easily the 2nd best keyboard I've used after one with Blue switches. If noise is a concern for you, this is a great product!

As for the sound its not so bad as u may think ,my wife did not complain :) If u think that the price is high consider all the money u spend for crappy keyboards so far. Das keyboard is a must!

Excellent MX Brown
