Better than others I’ve tried - EDITED
Update: so after using the mute nasal dilator for over almost 2 months now, I have some issues with it. You know how when you constantly rub something, it starts to form a type of callus? Well that’s happening inside my right nostril. It’s becoming so bad that now the right nostril is clogged during the day. So now I’m using two different types of dilators one for one week, the mute for the next week, then back to the other for a week, etc and so on. So nothing is perfect but I cannot use cpap any longer. It causes me less sleep and more problems than it solves. Im kind of stuck? Not sure what to do now, but just wanted to put this out there. No dilator is great at this stage. Don’t like the nasal strips because they do not stay on and don’t open my nose enough. So there’s my update! So this is an honest review. I’m not paid, I’m not getting any compensation; I’m just hoping to help someone else. I bought the trial pack for Mute and quickly figured out that the medium was for me. I wore it a while and I’ll be honest (again!) I felt like it bothered me. UNTIL I tried another brand of nasal dilator and oh my word! I wore the other brand for a week just to give it a fair shot and had blisters in my nose that scabbed over during the daytime. I went back to Mute and it was heaven compared to the other brand. Now having said that: the Mute dilator is not completely comfortable to where you don’t know it’s there BUT it does not cause bleeding or sores and weirdly enough when I went back to it? It seemed to work far better than the other brand that claimed to open passages “58% more.” So the night I went back to Mute? I slept 8 hrs 26 mins and woke up feeling great. The week prior with the other brand? I barely slept 5 without ripping the thing out and having a blocked left nasal passage for the rest of the night. So! That’s my honest review. In total I have tried 5 different nasal dilators and out of all of them? I’m sticking with the Mute medium nasal dilator. It’s a pain to put in, it’s a pain to get where your nose wants it to be, BUT it’s the only one so far that I’ve found that keeps my nasal passages open and lets me sleep without a clogged left nasal passage without pain and bleeding. I’ve had sinus surgery and it made things worse after so that’s not an option. The only thing I wish is that they made a variety of each size; such as extra small, small, larger small, small medium, medium, larger medium etc and so on. That way those clips wouldn’t be on there and it would be more comfortable. Hope this helps someone!

The adjustable paddle system to allow more airflow DOES NOT WORK and the USA office has no phone number listed
"Mute comfortably dilates each individual nostril to allow more airflow during sleep." IF ONLY THIS WERE TRUE! I bought the sample pack to see what size would work optimally for me and have tried to use them for several nights. The medium is a bit small and the large is way too big. The Mute however claims to have an adjustable feature allowing you to adjust it to get a better fit and hence a better experience. "Mute’s independent dilation system (adjustable paddles) allows snorers to counteract any asymmetry by personalising the fit of Mute for maximum airway dilation and comfort (from the FAQ found on web page)". "To achieve optimal fit, you may need to expand or contract the paddles by gently pulling or pushing the paddles with your fingers which will activate the ratchet mechanism. (from instructions)". Unfortunately, the unit I received didn't work as advertised. I adjusted the paddles per instructions to get the fit just right, I needed the medium sized device to be a big larger in both nostrils and then inserted it into my nose. Within seconds the right side didn't stay open while the left side did allowing me to breathe freely out of the left side of my nose but not my right. I removed the device several times to re-adjust it only to see that the ratchet system wasn't holding at all and even the slightest pressure on the paddle caused it to close down to it's minimal size. I submitted a close-up photo so you can see what I am talking about for those of you who might not understand why this is an issue. Now, if this was a U.S. based company or perhaps one that cared about it's customers, there would be a toll free customer service number printed right on the box or on the instruction sheet or on their website but they don't want to hear from you if you have a problem with their product. Ever notice how virtually every other manufacturer of health related products from band-aids to vitamins, toothbrushes even antiperspirants have a phone number for you to call with questions or comments but not these folks! So I'm stuck with a defective product that doesn't work as advertised, which may in fact be due to poor design or manufacturing but as I have no way of contacting the company I'll never know. If you do not need to use their patented "independent dilation system (adjustable paddles)" then this product may work well for you and if not I would suggest that you look elsewhere. Make sure you have a way to communicate with the manufacturer or distributor if you have any questions or problems, usually a sign of a business that genuinely cares about it's customers and their satisfaction rather than just moving product. If you read my other reviews you will find that I am usually very satisfied with the products I have rated.

Works, pricey though
Works well, have used them every night for over a year. One problem is that they aren't great if you have really uneven nostrils from a deviated septum. One side is not big enough on the highest setting but the other side is too big on the lowest setting and digs into the septum. It really hurts but can be mitigated by placing it carefully at the best least painful position. This is fine and I can deal with it as I haven't found a better alternative. The reason for the 3 stars is just the price. I would pay a max of $15 without complaint but I think we are all tired of things being expensive (for what they are) for the sake of being expensive. It works but 3 pieces of tiny plastic shouldn't be $20.

Worth trying, doesn’t fit perfect for everyone but effective for many.
These are very uncomfortable and I am not sure how anyone can wear this for more than an hour. They barely work also and the relief offered versus the pain an discomfort while wearing is not an even trade. I hoped that these would be a better option but Breathe right strips or the intake breathing band is what I will have to stick with. Most people aren’t going to be able to wear these for a full night and the more you want to open it the more it will also press on the inside of your nose creating pain that lasts for days even after it is removed. You can’t return them which is also very frustrating when my money goes to waste on a bad product. If it was half the price it would be better. Due to the price tag and awful experience I felt I better come here to help others and I hope it lowers sales for them because it doesn’t work well at all.

Estremamente soddisfatto.

Doesn’t work at all

Wow! This is a great product! I've tried a few different things to help with breathing and snoring, and this works so well and is so comfortable to wear at night. They give you 3 different sizes to try, and each nostril side is independently adjustable as well, so you are sure to get a good fit. Everyone's snoring and breathing patterns are different and different people have different issues causing the problem, but these "Mute" inserts really do a great job of keeping your nasal passages open and clear to help improve breathing with no discomfort while sleeping, you don't even know it's there.
