Not what I was hoping for
I expected this book to provide more tips on how to improve my long range shooting skills. One chapter concentrated on the 204 Ruger entirely which made me feel it was a sales pitch for that cartridge. I was disappointed.

for beginners, a great read to understand rifles
hi,i decided to read this book to supplement what i read about long distance shooting in sniper books. at first, this was an hard read for beginner[me] as there is a lot of gun lingo...and the fact that to get accurate, you have to think about each part of the rifle ie the weight of the trigger, length of barrel, proper scope mounting, the weight of bullet[115grams] & its length[.243 vs .308],recoil, wind, heat, location etc..the list is endless.so you have to figure out what these components to "create" the perfect rifle or rifles you want. so a every expensive hobby to start with.personally i realized that recoil is the most important & that a .243 rifle combines long range w/ minimal recoil to become a good shooter. the author makes the comment that lighter weight bullets are as deadly as heavier bullets if you are a good shooter. I think americans assume "more" ie harder/heavier is better to compensate for bad shooting & the author[he is older now& an american] states that better shooting via technique proficiency is better than caliber discussions.so i recommend reading these book but read other magazines & books at the same time to handle data overload from author's book.

The same book as others
I have owned three different books by Wayne Van Zwoll and although I admire him and share many hunting approaches with him this book was a mostly a rehash of material found in "The Hunter's Guide to Accurate Shooting: How to Hit What You're Aiming at in Any Situation" and "The ABCs of Accurate Shooting". Out of the entire 464 pages there is a single skinny chapter on general comments about shooting positions with no good picture of shooting from the sitting position or any real discussion about getting into a sling much less a whelan-type sling. The final chapter is his recommendations for customizing gunsmiths but there is no discussion of what improvements would possibly be cost-effective for a hunter. There is also no discussion about how to tell if a rifle that you pick up off the shelf fits your particular build. The discussion on ballistics in various situations and recommendations of cartridges/rifles in various situations I did find helpful. If you're looking for history of long-rang shooting, you've found it in the first 5 chapters of this book. But then again it's also in the two previously mentioned books. If you don't have a copy of the other two books, pick this one up as it's the best of the three. If you do have a copy, save your money as >50% of what's in the book(s) you already have is in this one.

More like a history of American guns and hunting
contains quite a lot of ammunition tables for various game and several anecdotes of guns and hunting. More like a history of American guns and hunting. A little chapter of actual techniques.

Long Range Shooting DVD
Great product, excellent reading, I would recommend it to any hunter longe range shooter. It is a little dated in information as it is about 15-20 years old and we have made leaps and bounds in shooting technology, but much is still relevant. The product arrived quickly

Un buen libro para novatos
Es bueno libro pero al cazador experimentado no tiene nada que ofrecerle y es mas mercadotecnia que otra cosa. Ok
