⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 — Excellent Adhesive for Footwear & More
Angelus Clear Shoe Cement is a reliable, professional-grade adhesive that works exceptionally well for repairing shoes and other leather or rubber items. The bond it creates is strong, flexible, and long-lasting—exactly what you want from a shoe repair glue. The clear finish is a big advantage, especially when working on lighter materials or areas where you don’t want visible glue lines. It dries quickly, sets firmly, and doesn’t crack over time. The 4oz can may look small, but a little goes a long way, and the brush attached to the lid makes application easy and precise. Whether you’re fixing soles, reattaching layers, or customizing sneakers, this cement delivers consistent, professional results. Perfect for DIY users and serious sneaker restorers alike. Pros: Strong, flexible bond Dries clear Quick setting Easy brush-on application Works on leather, rubber, vinyl, and more Cons: Has a strong odor (use in a ventilated area) Can dry quickly on the brush if left open too long Overall: A must-have adhesive for shoe repair, restoration, and crafting. Reliable, clean, and professional-grade.

It dries up white
It's stuck the sole back ok on my walking boots. Time will tell if it's as good as I hope. It dries up very white which doesn't matter in my walking boots, but one needs to be aware of this when mending smart footwear

They've changed the formula
I was going to leave a mixed review of this shoe cement, because I bought a tin last year which I was really happy with. Saved a few pairs of footwear, including completely resoling a pair of Allbirds in July, which are still going strong, even after going through the washing machine a few times. I bought another tin a few days ago and I'm having the same issue a few others have mentioned. The glue dries so quickly, there's not enough time to apply it to two surfaces and press them together. I knew something wasn't right, because I've used the remainder of last year's tin while repairing the same pair of boots and that stuff still works great. Having checked the tins side-by-side it looks like they've changed the formula. I'll be returning my latest purchase for a refund. I'd like to rate this higher than 1 star, but in it's current formula and following the manufacturer's instructions, this glue doesn't work. There may well be workarounds, such as only leaving it for 30 seconds to go tacky, but if this is how it should be used, the instructions should be updated accordingly.

My favorite Timberland boat shoes have this unfortunate tendency to have the rubber soles come off - about half of them do this eventually. Shoe Goop had long been the glue I used to re-attach the soles, but it wasn't very good, mainly because it took too long to dry and the bond wasn't very strong - while it was drying it also had a tendency to let the sole slide around out of position. Anyway, this stuff worked great. It dries very fast, and the sole stuck on and stayed in place immediately. I put some clamps and compression on and the glue was dry by the next day. Haven't tested the durability much yet, I'll re-post if the sole comes off. Anyway, not sure why so many people can't figure out how to use this glue properly. This is a VERY FAST DRYING elastic cement! It's not really a contact cement, and in any case I've never found contact cements to work like they are supposed to - apply to both sides, let dry slightly, then clamp the two parts. Usually the cement bond fails if you let it dry even partially, and so it is really always better to just clamp immediately. So, ignore all these low rating reviews posted by glue newbies who just don't know what they are doing. Correction to the Addendum: 12/1/2024 Well, I said I would re-post if the sole came off again from the Timberland shoes, and, what do you know, I got my left - right mixed up and it turned out that it was the left shoe, which had never been glued, that had half the sole peel off. The right shoe was the one that had the sole come half off, and was the one I glued with this Angelus Cement back in February. And that sole is STILL INTACT! So, apologies to Angelus for the mistake. I did glue the sole of the left shoe with Barge's Cement, and so now I have a reference for comparison between the two. Back to a five star rating.
