Easy to read, reliable alarm with atomic clock accuracy
The contrast on this clock is VERY easy to read with three levels of brightness. The atomic clock syncing works well once you activate it per the easy-to-follow instructions, so you can set and forget and it will always be the correct time. The alarm is a single beep every second that starts soft and gets louder after a few seconds. It is plenty loud enough to wake you up without jolting you and everyone else in the house awake as well. It has two alarms. At first I set the second as a backup. But the first is reliable that I don't even set the second anymore. It also has a small footprint which is helpful on my nightstand. It also has battery backup. I highly recommend.

Great clock only two problems
This is a great clock. After five minutes it updated correctly but I did have to set the time zone. The battery backup is great if you have power outage. The clock is very bright but can be dimmed down at night. One problem is the display will randomly go blank however unplugging the clock and plugging it back in does fix it. Very disconcerting when you wake up in the middle of the night and check to see what the time is and the display is blank. The other problem is the alarm is so quiet I cannot hear it. Correction, discovered that when the clock is updating the display will go blank however after the clock is updated the display will come back on. Now the only problem is the quiet alarm.

Reliable but low/off angle view is dim and sometimes the display goes dark late at night.
It works reliably. Sometimes the display turns off for a while in the middle of the night. This is reasonably tolerable for me since I'm usually asleep. Also if you view it off placing it on a high shelf, the display gets dim. I deal with this by putting something under it to angle it down. Other than that, it works fine and reliably.

Great features, if they actually worked
I bought 2 of these. Feedback based on that fact. First one, I learned the dimming feature (3 levels that control brightness via dimmer button) did not work properly. Clock would stay well lit for about a day and then change on its own to the lowest setting where clock was unreadable (screen seemed black). The dimmer button would not work to change it back. It remained dark and unreadable. Despite resetting the clock and pulling the electric plug to restart, nothing worked to reset/restore to the brightness setting. I liked the features and the size and look of clock enough to try again with a new one, so I bought a 2nd one. (I thought the defects of 1st one was an anomaly, but I was mistaken). The new one was worse. Out of the box, it looked used. It had dings and scratches on the plastic the way a plastic item gets if it has been dropped or smacked around. I didn’t like it, but I could have lived with dings if the clock worked right. But it not only had the same defect with the brightness and dimmer button as the first purchase did, but the time setting functions locked up while setting it and wouldn’t release. I couldn’t even complete the clock set up. Truly unacceptable, especially from the Sharp brand. Don’t waste your money on this one. Function and size of clock would be great, if they actually worked, but they do not. I bought another brand (Baldr) to replace 2nd clock and it seems to be working without issue, so far.

As described.
I wanted this just for the clock, date and day feathers. I love it. It is easy to set up and easy to read. Looks very handsom on my chest of drawers Shipping was fast.

This clock must be placed in a location BELOW your eye level for readability.
This is a very nice looking Atomic Clock, but it has one major flaw. It appears that the designers meant this clock to be used on a bed side table, or any counter-top or shelf that is LOWER than eye level. The digits are very easy to read if you are viewing the clock while standing 'above' the clock's level. Once your viewing angle (eye level) is SLIGHTLY below the height of the clock, the readability of digits and text on the face of the clock degrades. The lower your eye level is below the position of the clock, the harder it is to read the clock. If the clock is just 6 inches above eye level, readability is dramatically degraded. I compared this clock to two other digital Atomic Clocks I have. Both do NOT have this problem, whether your eye level is above or below the clock. Both are currently wall-mounted above eye level, readability is excellent. I then placed both my Atomic Clocks on a table far below eye level and readability was also excellent. I suspect the problem with this SHARP clock is that the digits are lighted and can only be read from above. The engineers at SHARP can create an electronic switch (settable by the consumer) that will allow the clock's display to be read from above or below by changing the angle of the LCD's crystals. I intended on placing this clock on a top shelf of a bookcase in my living room. That is not possible. Now, I must put it on a shelf that is only 32" high off the floor level so it can be easily read while standing or sitting on the couch. I will not return the clock because it is a nice clock when used as it is designed, but sadly, the design flaw is so critical, it only gets 3-stars.

Quality and Performance at its Best
This is definitely an extremely good clock to keep at home, if you are into atomic clocks. For quite some time I wanted to purchase an atomic clock but kept hesitant and unsure of which type and brand to buy. I couldn't be any happier with this clock that I finally bought. It is fantastic and works flawlessly with absolute and total precision. If you are considering buying an atomic clock this particular Sharp model will not disappoint you. Is totally worth It's value and on top of it this clock has 2 alarms which is very handy. I recommend it with absolute and total assurance.

Quality display that shuts off randomly
First of all, the display here is great. It's clear and bright with a dimmer function that works quite well. Easy to read and all that good stuff. Really well done. BUT The "atomic" part where it taps into the signal to give the "real" time took a week initially to find the signal and then had the wrong time zone that I could not fix. So I had to reset it to not use the signal. Highly disappointed in that. Then the buttons for the alarms are in weird spots on the back. They're backwards. When you look at the clock alarm 1 is on the left but the button to turn it on/off is on the right while alarm 2 is on the right but its button is on the left. The last straw, however, was the display just shutting off randomly. The first time I noticed was 4 am one morning so I unplugged and it came on with everything correct. But you can't have that happen. It happened the next night again and I left it. But it came back on again eventually to only shut off once more.

Do NOT buy outside the US!
This, sadly, has been returned. The photo promised exactly what we needed, but it wasn't clear that the irem was coming from the US. Thus, very dim on battery, can't properly adjust the time, can't plug in to mains because it's not dual voltage. Absolutely useless in the UK. I might have done more research. The vendors also might have been a bit more usefuil in their listing of this ...thing....

USA Wall Plug (110Volts) 5xUS Time Zones Only - If you don't live in USA or Canada - DO NOT BUY
USA Wall Plug (110Volts) 5xUS Time Zones Only - If you don't live in USA or Canada - DO NOT BUY You need to plug this into a 110Volt American wall outlet. Without 'pluging in', its at 10% brightness or unreadable. In Australia we have 240Volt mains. So to use it I would have to buy a $50USD Transformer. (More than the clock itself). We also have different time zones. I'm at GMT +10hours. (Clock comes with 5 American time zones only) With the available Fiji Setting the clock reads 1 hour ahead permanently. Likes: The product itself looks really good - very bright multi-colored text on black display. Reasonable materials used and probably has always accurate time keeping. SHARP needs to make an International version of this clock..... I've returned this clock (yesterday) back to the USA at $15USD Postage.
