Sony 4K UHD Blu-ray Player with HDR and Dolby Atmos (UBP-X800M2) with 6ft High Speed HDMI Cable Black

I wanted a quality player for my entertainment center. I did some research and found what I believe to be the best "bang for the buck" value. I am so glad I didn't go for a cheaper option. The first thing I noticed when I unboxed it was the heavy weight and the large size. It looks and feels like quality. I am really enjoying everything about it - the functionality, the menu, the smart features. I'm not getting everything out of this player yet as I currently have a 1080p television, not 4k. Even so, the video quality is great and it upscales dvd's closer to Bluray quality. I am sure I will have more good things to say about the video quality once I have a 4k TV to take full advantage of this 4k player. The only thing that remains to be seen is how it will hold up over time.

I initially had some reservations about buying this over the much pricer Panasonic version, but I must say that it's performed very well. Initially I had issues with movies freezing, but I now will clean the disc prior to playing and have not had any further issues. The picture quality of even upscaled BD is amazing on my Sony OLED TV. I don't regret making this purchase one bit.

Works super well! Got a little confused on why Dolby Atmos would work. Turns out “ secondary Audio needs to be turned off in order to work.

This has been a solid product. It will freeze, or hang once in a while (like pretty much everything electronic), but cycling the power by pulling the plug for ten seconds or so always resolves the issue. Once in a while means maybe once every few months. To me, that is not a big deal. (And yes, the software is up to date.) Bottom line? I would buy it again.

4k discs are junk, very fragile and expensive, most discs freeze up. Blu ray is a better choice.

It's not the best blu ray, I got this one because I thought the upscaling would be great, about the same as my blu ray without it. I'd go for a cheaper one if i were you.

Best picture and sound quality I’ve ever seen, on my Sony A-90 J TV using a Sony 5000ES Receiver with Focal Sopra Speakers. Good price for what you get. 👍

Total piece of crap player. After 1 month started freezing like all the other reviews said. Software update does nothing. Freezes intermittently and the only way to unfreeze it is to unplug the player. Completely unresponsive to controls. Audio skips in and out randomly. Typical Sony garbage. Do not buy Sony. They are not the same company they used to be.
