Excellent phone
This is the BEST phone ever made. Sturdy, works well, good sound, functional. My last LG lasted over 9 years and if I hadn't dropped it twice, would still be working just fine. Luckily, I bought another from Amazon seller and was able to have Verizon hook it up with my old number and download all my pics and contacts. When I went into the Verizon store, two sales people came up to me to say they always thought this was the best phone ever made. I have two iPhones for work and they don't compare. Now I have another LG just in case.

Verizon will not longer activate this phone
Phone was in good operating condition, unfortunately past description by seller lead me to believe verizon would activate.it. I was a current subscriber was the exact same phone. technician I called at verizon spent 20 minutes but could not activate it. when I went to the store, was told that verizon stopped activating it as of dec 19,2019. before you buy this phøne make sure you can activate it. I give the seller credit for giving me a refund and for changing the description

FABULOUS!!!!
This product was perfect. Exactly as descripted, arrived with free shipping in just 4 days, and is in very good condition for it's reasonable price. I was very set on this exact model phone, and this whole transaction was perfect! The seller was very helpful with the only question I had (about the security lock code-- if anyone runs into this problem, try the last four digits of the previous phone number which should be under 'my name card') and got back to me extremely promptly. Definitely recommend!!!!

did not work at all for me.
First of all, I ordered the phone for my husband who is in poor health. he needs a phone with him at all times because he is alone while I work. it is essential that he has a phone that is dependable. When we got the phone, the charger that was with it, did not fit so we couldn't charge it. I called and was surprised when i actually got a real person's vm. and was very surprised that i got a call back within minutes. He was very nice and asked some questions then let me know he was sending another charger immediately. few days later it came. the phone was scratched up a bit but it was an older model. My husband can't use the new smart phones as his hands shake and is almost impossible for him to use a touch screen. he needs a phone with larger #'s. the next charger was a little better. i could at least get it plugged in. but no matter how long it charged, as soon as you took it off, within minutes it would beep low battery and turn off. No good to us at all. I had to go back to his old phone and pray it won't fail him. I was extremely disappointed. I didn't call back yet to see if there is anything that can be done. We chalked it up to a lesson learned. i won't try this again or recommend anyone else to either.

Does your VX8300 have the 2011 Qualcomm MDR code upgrade?
Update as of Oct. 25, 2015: I did buy another used VX8300 here. It appears to have been deactivated in 2008 and does not have the 2011 MDR code update. I've found a cell tech in Seattle who says he can get the software. If so, I'll post the info. Sure do love this old school phone.--------Got my first VX8300 nine years ago. If I hadn't lost it I'm sure it would still be working. I replaced it with a second VX8300, which worked fine til I dropped it for the umpteenth time a couple days ago. Actually, the lower portion of the phone still works, but the video screen is toast. So, what to do about a replacement?I spent several hours today researching the new LG Terra VN210, which was recommended to me. It's not even in the same ballpark as the nine year old VX8300. The VN210 has no microSD slot, it has no video capability, its battery is only 950 mAh compared to 1100 on the VX8300, one reviewer says the VN210 lacks EVDO and is limited to 1X, it's 20% bigger and has the same 1.3MP camera the nine year old VX8300 has! That's an improvement? So, obviously I'm considering another VX8300. But there's one big drawback that I haven't seen mentioned in 28 pages of Amazon reviews: The March 25, 2011 Qualcomm MDR code upgrade that left thousands of Verizon LG users out in the cold. In a nutshell, if you didn't have the phone turned on when the MDR codes were sent down the line, your phone would "Error (3332)" and you could no longer access GetItNow or your Backup Assistant. The codes were only selectively distributed for a short time to various Verizon stores and Tier 2 techs in certain regions, then pulled by Verizon corporate.Verizon should have stepped up and dealt with the problem immediately, but they let it fester and spent months dodging the issue while orphaned users screamed at them. Of course, I didn't know about this til I'd already bought a replacement phone that wasn't turned on when the upgrade was done. After months of back-and-forth frustration with Verizon, I finally wound up shipping my phone 2000 miles to a Verizon store in Ohio, which was apparently the only store in the nation with a tech who both understood the problem AND still had the MDR codes in her system! Took her five minutes to do the fix. I was lucky to find her information posted in the Verizon forum. Otherwise...So, to all of you who've purchased a VX8300 and posted here in the last four years, can you access GetItNow/Media center? Do you have access to Backup Assistant? How about VZNavigator? Do you have the updated Qualcomm MDR codes? I'd like to know before I buy another VX8300, because I sure don't want to go through all that again.Otherwise, I pretty much love the VX8300.

LG VX8300
So happy to find this phone! My old LG AX5000 finally died after 10 years of service. The VX8300 is a newer model, but is basically the same phone with a SIM card added. If the 8300 gives me the same service I will be ecstatic. All I want is a plain Jane, reliable phone. If you are looking for no bells, no whistles; just a simple phone, this is it. No wonder that a certain carrier stopped selling this style of phone, It's built solid as a tank and doesn't die after a year of use. They can't sell contracts with this kind of phone. (Unless you just want to have the latest technology).
