Fine Book
I'm 65 and I'm getting ready for a different kind of relationship with guitars.I'd like to become a luthier; a very good luthier. As such there's no such thing as enough knowledge. This series is well written and the information is well presented. As it is among the first of its kind I've every owned I can't say it's the best, BUTI would recommend it to anyone who is on my path or just wants to refine theirown instrument(s).

Not detailed enough for me
I bought this to learn about repairing cracks on acoustic guitar tops, backs and sides. Not a bad book, but certainly not detailed enough to clearly demonstrate this type of repair. I got more info from just Googling the 'net.

Excellent book--Joe Casados
I own a 1974-75 Gibson Super 400. This book showed me the reality of having to send my guitar most likely to the Gibson factory to have the neck reset. The guitar suffered a terrible fall and the neck shifted. I did not realize there was so much that went into the repairing of a guitar. This book is very informative. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in guitar repair.

detailed info
i bought 3 repair books after reading reviews. this is the least about basic adjustments that most of us do. it was much about building guitars, the history of building guitars, and much time on how to repair a guitar that was run over by a truck.i did gain much knowledge about woods used and why. if you want detailed understanding of every element of the guitars body --its interesting, but its title i thought was misleading--HOWEVER it WAS published in 1978 so-the craft has evolved. its still a good read for info.i wouldnt buy it if you want to do your own adjustments on your guitar.read the reviews-choose another

Review of Kamimoto's Complete Guitar Repair
This is an old book with a new cover and some new data. The thing that's still the same is the table of string lengths and fret placments. Something that might help with the next issue is another table that uses the metric system. Don't replace inches. Just add metric.

Kindle Edition: Buy a microscope !
While this book would be a valuable and important addition to any luthier's library, the present Kindle edition is comprised of photographs of the print edition pages, with no control that will allow magnification. The result is tiny printing and photos that are almost impossible to read. This textbook deserves a much better treatment.

Complete Guitar Repair Guide
I'm an acoustic guitar guitar tech, and for my birthday my wife gave me a copy of a well known "Guitar Repair Manual". It doesn't cover everything, however a local Master Luthier, recommended "Complete Guitar Repair". I ordered it and when it arrived was initially disappointed, as it's half the weight and thickness of others. But upon turning its pages, I realized that this book is a treasure and worth its weight in gold. It contains excellent source material, supported by black and white photos and simple illustrations, for repairs a tech is likely to encounter. This book is a great buy.

Excellent Book
I can't believe this book is from 40 or more years ago -- it's so comprehensive. Would recommend to anyone who is interested in learning about how guitars work and how to repair/build them.
