Pool Mate 20-Pounds Premium Alkalinity Increaser for Swimming Pools, 100% Sodium Bicarbonate

I bought this to raise Alkalinity without raising PH. It is not what you need! Got my alkalinity up but drove my PH out of sight! Very disappointed!

Best priced product on Amazon but if I knew it was baking soda I just would have used the 13 lb bag I buy at Costco for $5.95

I do not know why this product, Sodium Bicarbonate by Pool Mate, did not perform. I have been a pool owner for nearly forty years and do my own pool service, including occasionally raising the pool pH. I purchased a new test kit just in case it was giving me a bad reading...but it was the same reading I got from the older kit. Now I need to buy another alkalinity increaser pH from another manufacturer. This year (2021) has been a crazy year for getting pool chemicals.

I have to dump two or three times as much of this product into my pool to get the pH to the right level compared to other soda ash (sodium carbonate) products I have bought from other companies. This product seems diluted and/or not very effective.

I was told by Leslie guy that I needed to increase the alkalinity of my pool water, their chemicals are so expensive so I got it from Amazon. Did the job right. I got an open box but still ok.

Works great but One of the bags was leaking from poor handling. Got it into a small trash bag. Powder all over bottom of box. Other bag was fine.

Great packaging and easy to use. Compare price to a local pool store. Great value!
