informative and well written

It brings Nordic knowledge, I work with and teach runes, this a great tool, I am always consulting the book and the runes when doing runes reading or even teaching it.The pieces of the runes are great, I like the size as well.

The myths, tales, songs that come down to us from this ancient culture in surviving bits and pieces were part of a spoken tradition passed down through the generations, probably suppressed and squashed as subsequent cultures/languages came and went before written language was the norm. ( I credit the Romans for wiping out those pre-Christian cultures) That means most of what we "know" about the Runes is based on historical/anthropological research by "experts" , personal opinions/bias, New Age shill craft and plain old whimsy. This just seems to support the notion the ancient past doesn't have the corner on Seeing and Oracles, which makes the Runes alive and fascinating to me! . A friend had this little book and I enjoyed the interpretations for the runes which were different from the interpretations in the other books I had. Also this set of stones had an extra stone, a blank stone (with an interpretation) and the Ingwaz stone looks different in this set...one x on top of another instead of the box they create at their center. Blum's presentation of the stones is also ordered differently. It is a small book, physically and content wise, concise and to the point. While all the interpretations were loosely the same as in other books, Blum has a way of verbally illustrating the symbolism which proved more understandable to me. I am happy to have it in my library!

Runes are poor quality. Break easy.I love the book and share it with friends

I have long been a fan of the I Ching. When I was introduced to the Norwegian Runes using Ralph Blum's guide, I was amazed at how much the readings sounded and "felt" like the I Ching. Turns out it's for good reason; Blum also used the I Ching regularly, and used it (along with the Runes themselves) to create this Runic system. I've used it numerous times since I got it a few weeks ago, and every reading was spot on. Even the "Odin's Rune" readings -- pulling one Rune only from the bag -- gave me an accurate and thought-provoking reading. The Runes are made of heavy plastic or resin -- I would have preferred a natural substance myself -- but they are what they are and are functional. It is a much faster and easier-to-understand way to obtain Universal wisdom than the I Ching, which is for many people, very confusing due to the time and society in which it was written. I highly recommend these Runes to anyone as a valuable addition to their collection of oracles.

This is my first set of rune tiles, as I've just become curious about it all. You will definitely need a book or some type of instructive guide to understand the background and the interpretation of your "throw" of the tiles. I think this book is an excellent guide....clear, concise and interesting. That you receive the book and a set of tiles with a drawstring storage bag all in one, is a good buy for the price. The tiles are good size and clearly marked. They are made from a faux stone material. The material has a chalky feel to me, that I find unpleasant, but not so much that I can't enjoy the experience of working with the runes.

Lost my original set with the purple book cover and got these to replace. Prefer the dark purple book as this white cover gets dirty very easy! Other than that I love these. I have used them for many years. It's always nice to have another viewpoint to consider, or another way to look at a situation to help you make a decision. Rarely have I been disappointed in the helpful advice. Sometimes it's just nice to have a different way of looking at something to see a possible outcome you never considered. I find them very useful.

This set is beautiful and the book is very helpful. The flat tiles, make it easy to pull them. I prefer the weight of the tile over a wood rune.
