I'm glad we bought this protection plan
My wife's laptop screen was broken. Asurion sent a pre-paid shipping container with padding. They kept us informed of when they received the package from us, when they ordered parts, when it was and shipped back to us. Excellent service and repair.

WORST INSURANCE EVER
I purchased the 4 year protection plan (which cost $129.99) for my laptop that I bought on March 18, 2021 and used my protection policy twice. The first time was in January of 2024 when my computer was corrupted due to an interrupted installation of an update. I contacted Asurion through their website to confirm my plan included software issues and if so, to possibly receive guidance in the quickest way to resolve the issue. I was given a number to call to have someone talk me through the steps of how to reset my computer. The number was not Asurion customer support, nor an affiliate under Asurion, but instead it was for Microsoft customer support. I found out that Microsoft would not provide assistance for the issue without a payment of about $200. I went through the steps of contacting Asurion again and explained that I must have been given the wrong number, as the Microsoft employees had said, and was given a new number to call. It was once again Microsoft customer support, but this time it was for a different department. I ended up fixing the issue on my own, no harm done, just about 2 hours wasted playing phone tag, but I should've just tried to fix the issue on my own to begin with, so whatever. The second time I used my plan was in June of 2024 when my computer screen would not display any image, but it would turn on, and would not project onto another display (I really tried everything I could to fix this issue first). I sent it in as this issue was clearly above my paygrade. I received emails and texts daily informing me that the part they needed (a new motherboard) was on back order and my repair was delayed, no big deal as I had sent it in the day I went on vacation (06/13/24) and had a back up computer just in case of emergencies. Here's where my issues with them begin: Asurion sent me an email at 8:11am on June 25, 2024 saying the part was still on back order and they would need more time, but I then get an email at 2:35pm the same day saying it's unrepairable and they are just going to send me a refund. I immediately called as I need the information stored on that computer and had to beg and fight with them to at least receive the hard drive back (thank god!). Turns out that if they can't repair it within a set timeframe (which seems to be no longer than 8 business days) they give up and will destroy it and send you a refund. I had no issue waiting longer, but their company policy won't allow it. Okay, fine, at least I got my hard drive back and won't have to worry about the college assignments I have saved on there. But what about my protection plan? Will it end on March 18, 2025 as originally planned? Will they give me a grace period or offer me a discount to get a new plan on a new computer? The answer my friends is no to all of the above. They cancel your plan, void it, and do not offer a refund for the time left you have. According to the gentleman I spoke to they will void your plan no matter when you got it if your device is deemed "unrepairable" (it takes more than 8 business days or less than 2 weeks), so that means you could've paid $129.99, had a hardware issue with your computer within one month, and instead of being able to use the protection plan for 4 years, you got it for less than a month and are not offered a refund, rebate, or reduction. DO NOT USE ASURION EVER.

Great service with imperfect quality control
I sent in my laptop for keyboard repairs, as several keys had become unresponsive. Here's the rundown of the full repair process: Firstly, I filled out the form online to provide my product information and issue. They then sent a box to me with bubble wrap, the required form, and a return label, so it was free for me to ship my laptop to them. I sent it once I had time, and the laptop was returned to me less than two days later. I expected them to be stingy with replacement parts, but this was not the case, and I was not charged for them. Less than two weeks later, the laptop was back in my possession and working perfectly. I was not charged for shipping, parts, labor, or anything else during the process. I also received several emails keeping me in the loop of what was being done and I received a tracking number when my laptop was being returned to me after repairs. They also cleaned my screen without me asking. Here's where the fifth star is lost. During the repair process, the whole external assembly around the keyboard was replaced. No reason was given, but I assume it was attached to the keyboard in some way, and the original couldn't be kept. This resulted in a noticeable dent next to the trackpad, which causes the trackpad to appear to stick out in the bottom left corner. It still functions as expected, but it's an odd defect to keep. Considering functionality only, the service was perfect, but the quality control is a bit lenient regarding the appearance of replacement parts. Overall, I'm very pleased with the service and I will be using it next time I purchase electronics, but I do wish the quality control was more strict.

Asurion delivers on its commitment!
I purchased a renewed Lenovo Ideapad for $779 in April 2021, but at the same time I paid extra for this Asurion 4-year protection plan. In November 2023, I started having problems with the laptop, and ultimately the motherboard died. It took me a few months to realize I could make a claim and then to follow through. At first Asurion emailed me that the laptop should still be covered by Lenovo, but as it was a renewed product, that was not the case. When I called, the Asurion representative was very friendly and reassuring, and they sent me a package to return the laptop to their technicians, who of course could not fix it. Asurion then gave me a full refund in an Amazon gift card for the price of the laptop! So I ended up with a refund that was more than 5 times the cost of the insurance, even though the laptop had done its job well for 2 1/2 years. So don't hesitate to call if you have a problem with an Asurion-insured device; Asurion provides good service.
