AVOID!
Save yourself frustration and DO NOT buy Grizzly tools if they have to be freighted to you! If you insist, make sure they are not being delivered by Saia! I bought the G0452 Jointer directly from Grizzly. The first one arrived with the box for the jointer table COMPLETELY destroyed and everything shrink wrapped together on a pallet. I wouldn't have accepted it, but my wife did. I went to put it together and, sure enough, I was missing roughly 90% of the hardware. I called them and worked out what I needed. They shipped it out and I tried to finish assembly. I got about half way through and then discovered that the iron bracket that the threaded table adjustment rod goes through was snapped in half. I called them and demanded a new one. Once they received confirmation the first one had been picked up, they sent a new unit. It arrived with the jointer table box open at top, but it initially appeared everything was there. It turns out it wasn't. I was missing a little under half of the hardware this time. When I opened the second box that contains the stand with the motor, I discovered they hadn't even mounted the motor this time. It was just loose in the stand with the nuts and bolts also laying loose in the box. The motor had been bounced around in there so much during transport, it had dented the stand. This time I requested a pick up and refund. Three weeks later, I am still waiting for Saia to come and get it! They were supposed to come today, but cancelled and then left me in phone transfer limbo as I was trying to speak to someone to reschedule. Meanwhile, Grizzly will not refund my money until they have proof it has been picked up!

Great jointer for the money
This is great jointer. I've been looking at new jointers for awhile, and decided that the parallelogram design was the best bet for me. My shop isn't big enough for a larger jointer, so this one was the best fit for size and budget. In looking at this type of jointer, all the major manufacturres use the same supplier, just look closely and you'll see that the Shop Fox, Delta, Steel City, and Grizzly are the same jointer. Grizzly gives a four knife cutterhead, an advantage in my book.Shipping came on time and without difficulties. The driver was helpful. Minor dings in the cardboard packaging. There was no shipping damage. A word about Grizzly quality control. This is my third major tool purchase from Grizzly. I have some experience with them. All of my exquiptment comes with some form of damage to the paint and some rough edges. This piece was no different. The cast-iron castings are fine, but I'm not sure what goes wrong in the paint shop. I re-order from Grizzly cause things work just fine, which is what I'm buying, but I have come to expect paint problems. I guess that's how they maintain less expensive pricing. This jointer works great. Out of the box, the tables were coplaner and knives aligned perfectly. The fence is difficult to assemble, but easy to tune up after assembly. It cuts great and gives a smooth, flat, glue ready edge. The built in mobile base is a definite plus and works fine. Motor runs smooth and dust collection is excellent. Having a large paddle switch is excellent, I actually moved my switch lower on the machine so I can use it as a bump switch with my knee. This is an excellent machine for the money, especially if you don't mind a few cosmetic blemishes in the paint.

Good Jointer for the Money
This is a good Jointer. The directions were easy to follow, it makes clean cuts and it is easy to move around the shop. My only complaint, the wheel for moving it around the shop has a tendancy to fall down while moving it so I have to stop and press down on the foot lever again and then get going again.

worthless piece of junk
I'm a professional cabinetmaker with 18 years in the field. As a rule I do not buy grizzly products beyond shapers and drill presses. I purchase SCMI, AEM and other quality production machines. My old jointer died (crack in a casting) and I bought this machine with the byrd cutterhead. This machine is the biggest piece of poo I have ever encountered. I have followed their setup procedure to the letter and I am currently on my third time resetting it's alignment. It will not hold the adjustments. I would not recommend any of their products if you want a precise machine. If it will not hold alignment this time it will be sold.Do not buy grizzy.

Happy so far
I've had this machine for a few weeks now. I'm a furniture and cabinet maker with over 10 years experience. I've used good quality jointers from 6" to 12". Today I finally got this one dialed in. Unpacking, setting up, cleaning goo, and the rest took about 3 1/2 hours. All parts were packed tightly and only minor damage found on the power switch - 2 paint chips on the corners.I emailed Grizzly with a photo of the damage to ask how they would handle it. Two hours later I received a phone call explaining that they would send touch-up paint, which met with my approval. Grizzly's service and communication was excellent throughout the process.I had to spend some time adjusting infeed & outfeed tables to be parallel. HINT: do this part BEFORE you install the fence assembly. One of the set screws for the concentric adjusters sits underneath. I just got this completed today, and I noticed an immediate difference in the way the machine behaved. So far power has been more than adequate and the dust collection is working as expected. Another challenge was installing the flip-up wheel for the mobile base. There's one bolt to install that was nearly impossible with the interference from the base cabinet, but after some cursing and persistence, I won! The tools that came with my machine did not include a 3mm allen wrench, so make sure you've got one.I like the high-mounted power switch, it seems to operate realtively quietly, and cuts have been glass smooth. So far so good...
