The title of this book doesn't lie. Buy this book.
The author connects the physiology of the heart in a given situation to clinical examples of what to expect from a patient that is presenting an abnormality on the EKG. For example, the author gives many examples of an EKG strip and a background story of what happened when that strip was taken. Then you are given the opportunity to explain it. Afterwards the author breaks down exactly why he came to a conclusion about the EKG strip.Study the book instead of just reading through it. (Especially the first chapter as it provides the foundation for the rest of the book.) Truly understand what you are being taught and this really will be the only EKG book you will ever need.I have my EMT license in Florida and this book has provided and excellent way to further my knowledge of the EKG. It's written in a simple and understanding way so that even the novice medical professional can understand the EKG.

The paperback version is GREAT but don't bother with the Kindle version.
I bought this book as a supplement to a cardiology class I am taking in nursing school. It wasn't required for the class but I heard about it from several cardiologists and ICU nurses and felt it would be helpful, even if it went above and beyond what I needed to know. Well, it did go above and beyond, but in a good way. It helped me understand the heart in much more detail than what we're taught in school and I feel that will help me once I graduate and begin my nursing career. Instead of simply learning the anatomy of the heart and the circulatory system in school, this book did an amazing job at explaining WHY the heart pumps the way it does from a electrical conduction standpoint, and most importantly, what to look for when monitoring telemetry or reading EKG strips. The graphics are excellent and the paper is thick and somewhat glossy, although I do wish some of the EKG sample strips were a bit larger and easier to read. The book is fairly small; smaller than your typical textbook, which I actually find to be useful as I can toss it in my bag without lugging around some huge textbook. I would not recommend the Kindle version as the EKG strips are already on the border of being too small in the paperback version. Reducing their size by half by reading it on a Kindle will make it impossible to get the full benefit of the book.If you're in med school or nursing school and taking cardiology courses, work in a cardiologist office, or if you're already working as a physician or nurse, I think you'd really benefit from reading this book and holding onto it as a reference. The price is a bit high, at least at the time I wrote this review, but it's about what you'd expect to pay for a textbook so I really can't complain there. Overall, an excellent investment!

step by step this book will get you up to speed
I have read the 5th edition multiple times and moved to the 7th edition because I wanted a kindle version and a refresher with updated information. I like that this book is organized slightly differently from the previous book getting to the meat first and putting the extemporaneous information later in the book. There are a lot of great examples and it is not THAT bad looking at it on the kindle version as you can zoom in on the EKGs though you lose some ability to count the boxes. The examples at the end are a great overview of what was taught and this book will make you at least confident you can read most EKGS in the office. There are some subtle findings which you will need to go free online databases for to see more of though (wave maven by Harvard ). This is a great read and good luck in your studies!

Good EKG book.
This is an easy book to read and understand. It is great for the novice especially. It contains a lot of information for such a small book, but can clear up a lot of points on EKGs.

Really the Leader in EKG books
I had an old edition 1995 of this book and I learned EKG from that book . Recently when I was revising the book again to refresh my understanding of the EKG , I bought this new edition . I compared it with the old edition and I found the new book more updated on current changes or advancements in ECG. Moreover this book in color , with all the diagrams, pictures and graphs and ECG strips all in good quality color . The book is not heavy and the size is medium , so it can be held in hand whether you are sitting or even lying on Sofa . The paper quality is also very good . The book is very easy and detailed enough to understand the EKG from the basics to the mastering all the EKG reading . Like the name says , this is the only EGK book you will ever need .

Excellent book
This is an awesome book for EKG. It is very easy to read and the concepts are well presented. Read this book and you will be able to put together the random pieces of knowledge you have picked up during your informal learning sessions with attendings while doing your clinical clerkships. Once you done with the book , find some EKG blogs and test your knowledge. AMAZINGShipping was VERY FAST

I hate cardiology. I absolutely despise it
I'm going to preface this with the following: I hate cardiology. I absolutely despise it. Unfortunately, part of being a PA is knowing cardiology. This book breaks things down very simply and even I can appreciate what I need to know. It includes lots of pictures and a few case studies that help solidify information. Explanations are clear and understandable. Depending on the level of detail you need, you can skip parts very easily if they're not something you need to know. Very much recommended.

The title is true!
This truly is the only EKG book you will ever need. In PA school I purchased and read many. This one demystifies EKG interpretation and teaches you exactly what you need to know. The author writes simply, and explains what you need to know perfectly.

ottimo primo passo verso l'infinito...
Altamente consigliato.

Wonderful
I adored this book. It is extremely easy to read, understand and learn from. Better than the competition and most head and shoulders above the competition as a first book on ECG.Nonetheless I fully agree with the authors' evaluation that, in essence, despite this being "the only one you'll ever need", it ought not to be the only one you ever want. Further books are of great service in mastering the ECG, though I heartily believe that this is the best possible starting point.
