DOC MARTIN: MISTLETOE (TV TIE-IN)

nice book, when it finally came
The bookj was supposed to arrive between April 26 and May 3. It arrived on May 12. With no explanations. I was glad to receive it, because it was in very good condition and I am please with it. The cover art has absolutely nothing to do with the book contents. No Doc Maftin /Louisa romance whatsoever. You evidently cannot judge a book by its cover. Buyer beware. It was still a good read for a Doc Martin fan.

Great author, great story
This author brought the characters to life, I almost felt I was there with them. Reading both books were a pleasure. The sort of book we like to keep on our bookshelves and re-read later on.

Martin is clueless.
Author took TV script+dialogue and expanded to fiction book. TV show was Excellent; Book builds on that = Fantastic. Provides color, describes emotions, makes Martin a stolid (secret romantic) klutz, makes Louisa a patient, loving woman who's waiting for Martin to recognize her obvious clues -- signified by her two passionate kisses of Martin, to which he responds with unbelievable "MD textbook" responses.Read Book #1 and Book #2 -- can't wait for Book #3. Hurry up, dear Author

Doc Martin Series 2 Revisited
As an avid Doc Martin fan, I was interested in what this book would add to the canon of the DM TV series. The author revisits series 2 of the show, though set at the Christmas time of the year. That changes the weather and other background factors while keeping many story lines intact. Not every story line is included. What the author adds is his insight into a situation that isn't necessarily shown or intuited from the original series, which I found interesting. Translating a multimedia production into a literary product, particularly as complex as a Doc Martin episode--not to mention a whole series of 8 episodes-- was another interesting draw for me to read this book. I enjoyed it based on those parameters.

Mistletoe and Whine - 2nd Book in the Series
I love this book because I love the TV series by the same name. Sam North has successfully added flesh & bones to the residents and incidents surrounding the doctor and his practice in the small village of Portwenn in which he practices. The quirky nature of some of the residents of the village as well as the gruff, outer exterior of the doctor are hilarious and brings the whole village to life. The author welcomes the reader to become a spectator & to empathize with each and every one of Portwenn's residents. I plan to re-read this book just as soon as I'm done re-reading the first book in this series.

Spot On
If you are a fan of the show this book will bring back great memories. I was surprised on how close the TV show follows this book. Doc Martin is such an out of sorts doctor. He has no clue about Port Wenn and its people. His grumpy demeanor is nothing compared to his grumpy inside. He is so funny that you can't help but smile. He is the proverbial epitome of the stuffed shirt. Good read with great characters.
