The best grip I tried for my son!
My son got through Kindergarten in public school with a horrible grip, thumb across the pencil in a way he didn't have enough leverage to print clear letters. I'm not sure if this was just his teacher, or if schools in general don't insist on a good grip from the beginning like they did when I was in school, but I had a hard time figuring out how to help him change his grip. This was the best grip I tried. It has a clear, intuitive design that doesn't feel right unless the hand is in the right position. The barrier between the thumb and fingers make it so he couldn't go back to his habitual grip. For a long time I had the rule that he couldn't use a pencil unless this grip was on it and over six months his habits finally changed so that he is now using a good grip even when I'm not reminding him about it. I think if Kindergarten teachers- and preschool teachers--are teaching kids how to write letters and numbers they should put this on all of their pencils so kids can learn a good grip from the beginning!

SO FAR THIS IS THE BEST AND WORKS
I tried different types, at least five pencil grip to correct my son grip. So far this one is best, correcting his grip and the right muscle. Thank you so much for the product!!! I wish I bought this a long time ago.

Perfect for 15 year old son who still struggles with his motor skills delay and his handwriting
My son who is now in the 9th grade who has had a motor skills delay and still struggles with his tiny handwriting. This add on to any pencil, mechanical pencil or pen helps my son not to write down so hard and is slowly making progress! My younger son loves it as well and he has no issues with his handwriting. Thank you!

AWESOME pencil grips!
My four year old son is going into kindergarten in the fall, but still has problems with his pencil grip. When we went for his kindergarten entrance evaluation (private school), the principal recommended we get something to help with his grip. She told me to go to a local school supply store, but I wanted to look online and find reviews and find the grip that would work best for him. He is still getting used to using the grips, and sometimes wants to still grab the pencil with his fist, but it is definitely improving after just a few days. We will continue using these all summer to improve his grip and his handwriting. One thing that I loved about the Grotto grip as opposed to other grips is that they are for right or left hand. My son is ambidextrous, and still hasn't decided which hand he wants to write with (both are about the same as far as the handwriting!). The fact that these grips are not specific for right or left hands makes it easy for him to swap back and forth if he wants.

Awesome grips!
I love using these grips with elementary school children. They come in bright fun colors, so the children usually ask to use them. I have found that the grotto style pencil grip works best for children in grades 1-3 who cross their index finger over their thumb to write. As with any grip, you have to try several to find the grip that will work just right for a child- but I have found these to be used more often then any other style grip. The grips also work for older students who have incorrect pencil grasps that cause hand pain. The only difference is, for young children this may correct their grasp but for older children it is hard to break a habit of writing wrong and the grip will be needed for forever, or a longer period of time. They do not come with instructions, but there is an arrow pointing down to show you which way the grip points down.

These pencil grips are amazing. My daughter(kindergarten) has a difficult time gripping the pencil properly. This Grotto grip has assisted her in ensuring proper finger placement. I do have to constantly correct her grip because it is a bit uncomfortable for her. She also is unable to apply proper pressure to the pencil. Nonetheless, for the people that have complaints about this item not working properly you can't expect for this item to be a miracle, self working device. You must consistently aid and adjust your child's grip until they can grip the Grotto on their own. The item is a must, especially if you have a child who has difficulty with fine motor skills or follows O.T.( occupational therapy) I hope this review was helpful to anyone considering this item.

Best Pencil Grip Ever!
My son is 3 years old and in preschool. The teachers are having the kids practice tracing their names, however my son refused to do so, this went on for weeks. After reading lots of advice on the internet, I decided to purchase this pencil grip. I put this on a pencil and showed my son how to hold it, and that night he had written his name 5 times! He loved his "special pencil". I sent one to school and he wrote his name for the teachers without any issue. He now will write his name without the use of this pencil grip. I definitely think this pencil grip helped my son with writing his name.

I'm glad I got it
My kid is only 3 years old in daycare and they gave him homework. From what I've read kids that young just don't have the necessary motor skills to write letters. I don't know why they would give him work like that so young. I was trying to get him to hold a pencil and write and it was frustrating and he can sense I was frustrated and he didn't want to do any of it. I got him this thing and he was able to hold the pencil better and start doing some work. It can use some improvements but it's a lot better than nothing and I'm grateful it got him started in the right direction.
