Finally found a chair mat the works for me.
My new mat arrived 3 days ago and is a wonder to use. It is a thick, hard, clear surface (rectangular 40"x47"x1/5") that supports me while doing my PC work. I can easily glide on the surface, and if my wheels run off the edge, I can easily roll back on without having to rise and manually set the chair back. Since my movements don's move the mat much, I don't have to reposition the mat often. I did notice a slight realignment was needed this AM which I did by easily sliding mat and chair 2-3". We changed our carpet to a plusher and thicker version recently. My old hard plastic mat allowed my chair wheels to dent the mat after sitting in one spot for several minutes. I found it almost impossible to get out of the hole to exit the desk. All the trouble to rise caused a constant mat movement despite the knobby bottom. Those problems are gone and I love my new mat!!!

Worth it!
Impressed by the chair mat. It doesn't collect hair or dust, as I thought it would because of static, so it's stayed clear so far. No weird odor. Very sturdy material. The mat is not perfectly flush with the floor, but it's maybe half a centimeter. I think you could trip over it if you're not careful and catch your toe, so I wouldn't recommend it for seniors. However, I really like it!

Great product...for a while
Like many others, during the COVID lockdown I began working remotely and needed to build a home office. The kids are all grown and moved out on their own now, so we turned our daughter's room into an office/spare bedroom. We redeorated, painted and got new carpeting. I was looking for a carpet protector but didn't want one of those thin plastic carpet protectors with the spikes on the bottom - been there, done that, and it seems like those get discolored, crack easily and don't last long. I saw this one and it looked thick enough. It had overall great reviews and the description said it was more durable than tempered glass and can withstand up to 1200 pounds of pressure. I'm not a small man, but nowhere even remotely close to 1200 pounds! So I bought one, and it was really great! It was crystal clear, the carpet looked great underneath, and my chair rolled on it perfectly. It didn't seem to scuff with my chair rollers and I was very happy with it. One thing I found was it did tend to move around a bit on the carpet - not really noticeably while sitting on it, but over the course of a few hours I would look and it has moved away from the desk a couple inches. I just moved it back in place and it didn't bother me. One day I was sitting down and dropped something on the floor and bent down to pick it up and I heard a sound like something had snapped. I looked around and didn't see anything and didn't think much about it. A bit later I heard it again and that's when I saw a small crack developing in the floor protector. It had been about 6 months since I bought it so I was not able to return it to Amazon. I tried to contact the seller since the product description said it came with a 12 month warranty, but I could not find the contact information for the seller. I called Amazon and they agreed to let me return it after all and I ordered a new one. Same experience - it worked well and everything was fine...again for about 6 months. The floor protector cracked again, and this time it was much more noticeable. I decided just to keep it because the cracks didn't seem to affect the chair rolling on it and I didn't want the hassle of trying to return it again, especially since when I returned the first one I had to pack it in cardboard before the UPS store would send it, since this is solid and doesn't fold up. Well, the cracks over the past couple weeks have gotten worse so I'm going to have to find something else. Overall it seems like most people have had great experiences with this product, and so did I for a while. Too bad it didn't last for as long as I hoped.

Great Product
My chair was starting to ruin my vinyl planking. I purchased this MuArts Chair mat and "WOW" what a great product. Clean and clear looking, sturdy, doesn't slide around, and stays flat. Walking barefoot at night, the edge of the mat has caught my toes and I almost tripped, my fault.

Excellent chair mat- especially helpful for fluffy carpets
Very pleased with these heavy duty chair mats. Description says they are 1/5 inch thick, but they seem (perform) thicker. If you have had issues with chair mats on top if plush(er) carpets, this should be the solution, and they hold up perfectly under a 270lb person in an office chair on our "short shag" carpet. I ordered 2 to support 2 chairs under a long crafting table. They arrived in a single flat box. The box was pretty beat up in shipment, but the mats had protective film on both sides and were in a (thin) protective bag. Both mats were in excellent condition, despite the rough treatment the box took. The protective film was easily removed (no adhesive, just thick cling plastic). Since these are so thick AND they were shipped flat, there was no issue with having to unroll or flatten the mats. You could not roll this mat anyway- they are very nice rectangle sheets of thick, flat plexiglass. Some other reviews mentioned the mat tends to move during use, and I ran into a bit of that as well. I placed some 'grippy" material underneath and that helped tremendously (but not completely). I feel that is a minor issue compared to the other qualities (hard, flat, supportive, works on thicker carpet, etc). If it ever becomes and issue, I will use a set of "carpet keepers" to keep it totally motionless. Like I said, I am very happy with this purchase.

Just what I needed
I've read a lot of the negative reviews (few of them compared to positive, but there are still plenty) and none of the points much matter to me. To address my own view of several of them: 1. It slides around on carpet. Well, it doesn't for me. I thought it MIGHT because it does in fact have nothing to grip carpet, but I put it down several days ago, put my chair on it, and it hasn't mover a fraction of an inch. Maybe it's my carpet, or maybe my 250lb or so weight that spends a lot of time on my computer chair on the mat, but whatever, it's just not been a problem for me. 2. It gets scratched up. Well, yes, it already has some, but I just don't care. Doesn't matter to me. It could be opaque for all I care. Heck, I want it primarily to make my chair roll easier as it's almost impossible to roll on my carpet, and secondarily to protect the carpet, and it works great for both. I really don't much care what it looks like. 3. It's opaque white not clear as listed - no, it is CLEAR. I actually had it down and was using it thinking it was opaque which, as I said above, would still be fine with me, until I saw the video on one of the reviews and realized I still had a plastic sheet on one side. It adheres VERY tightly and isn't clearly even there. You have to dig at a corner with a finger nail or something to just loosen it enough to even know it exists, then you can pull it off. And the instructions, printed on the much easier to remove and more obvious plastic on the OTHER side, are not very clear about that [pun somewhat intended.] 4. "It's just a sheet of plexiglass." Um, yeah, so? I guess the suggestion is that you could buy a sheet from .. where, who sells it cut to size? No idea. But if you found it you could. Well, ok. If you want to go researching where to buy that, ordering it cut to size, and either go get it or pay for delivery, because it's a little cheaper, more power to you. What would that cost, twenty bucks? I've no idea, but let's say 20. It's worth the extra 38 to me to just order it at 3 AM with a tumbler of scotch in hand and have it magically appear at my door a couple days later. 5. Sharp edges. Well, true. And if you go barefoot in the room where you have it that might be an issue. I never, ever, do that so again, I just don't care. Now it's not perfect, and I debated whether to give four or five stars but decided the minor quibbles I have were not worth down-rating by one star. Mainly, it's TOO smooth on top and the chair rolls too easily. I got used to it, but it feels a bit like sitting your chair on ice. I think it would be better with some texture added to the top, or maybe to both sides so the bottom would grip carpet better for those who have that issue. But then it wouldn't be so clear as some of you want. OTOH, some texture would prevent scratching so badly or scratches that do happen from showing as much. It would probably cost more though. 2. It could be a little larger. But it is the size it says it is so you can't really complain about that, and it's about the size of most chair mats and a bit larger than many, especially counting the fact it's a rectangle instead of having the "tongue" protrusion on the front that most do. Bottom line is that you are getting a thick, fairly heavy piece of plexiglass sized for a chair mat that will protect your carpet and let your chair roll easily and NOT (probably, I have only had it a few days) crack into pieces in a year or two like the vinyl ones, and I paid nearly this much for the last three or so of those I bought at a local office store. That's just what I needed and what I got. Very happy with the purchase. EDIT: After it apparently compacted the carpet some more it does slide around, but I don't care. I position it once a day or so and it's good. I may try some double sided tape but I haven't been in a hurry to even bother. It still helps my chair roll effortlessly and protects my carpet AND doens't break into pieces like all the other mats. Still happy with it.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT ! Thick & sturdy, clear as glass
EXCELLENT PRODUCT ! Thick & sturdy. It's on a medium thickness carpet with padding underneath, with no sagging ..... & I'm no light weight. The "Crystal Clear" product description is no lie either. Great item.

I like but...
It does work well, nice and thick and doesn't flex under the weight of my chair as much as the thinner ones do. This means my chair doesn't get stuck in a rut after sitting for awhile. Hopefully this also means it will last as the thinner ones eventually crack from the stress of being bent out of shape so much. As others have said, it does slide around more than the mats that have the little spikes on the bottom. Fortunately, because it lacks the spikes, its also easier to slide back into place. I can do it with the chair on the mat, unlike my old spiked one. My only wish is that they put a slight bevel on the top edge instead of leaving it a hard 90 degrees. It would also make it easier to get the chair back onto the mat when I roll off the edge. Additionally, this would also help with the edge chipping (I've had mine 2 weeks and already have some slight damage to the edge). Not to mention, I'd dreading the day I accidentally jamb my toe into the edge. All in all, I'm quite happy with it. I bought the largest size available at the time, 47" x 40", and I do wish it was a little larger. By the time I wrote this review, I see they have a larger version. Update: This was purchased in Feb of 2024. This week, June 2026 it cracked. That's over 2 years, which is much longer than any other chair mat has lasted me.
