Alfred's Essentials of Music Theory, Bk 1

Great for beginners. Lots of information for someone that doesn't know music theory.

Item arrived as expected and new. Great value for the price for a worksheet-style textbook.

I picked this up just wanting to have a workbook to be able to study and learn. I am a middle aged adult just learning the piano and my instructor saw this and now uses it to give me homework as she says it is one of the better theory books out there. Since I am not a music theory expert but learning, this is definitely a great tool to add to your arsenal!

I have played the piano for over 50 years but I never really had a good background in basic music theory. This book is the perfect reference guide for me to review timing and ledger notes and lesser used music notations. It is exactly what I was looking for!

Beware. This is a pretty great series except they teach that the values of a whole rest and a whole note can vary (eg. a whole note can equal three beats if the time signature designates three beats in a measure). Like the half note/rest, they don’t recalibrate based on the length of a measure.

Is there an answer page? I LOVE the book. I am an older student at 67. I like learning new stuff with younger directions. It makes things easier to understand.AMAZON FOLDED THE BOOK TO BUT IT IN A SMALLER ENVELOPE! I don't like new books with folds in the middle but I don't know how to get to AMAZON to gripe about it!
