Highly Recommended
Fantastic update to the Madcatz TE line of sticks. I got a used stick from Warehouse Deals and still didn't have any issues with it... It's nice and heavy, the bottom has a nice large foam pad that won't slip, USB is detachable. It also looks really nice, and modding the buttons/stick AND the artwork is so much easier now which is a huge plus for me!I bought one of these and one of the Rivals edition and I couldn't be happier with both of them. Looks great and plays great! Don't get a lot of the negative review whatsoever, unless there was just a bad batch initially shipped out or something. The stick feels just as good as a TE1, except improved in almost every way. The stick feels heavy duty and does not feel cheap at all. Also a great feature of this stick is it's now much easier to install LED lighting, as easy as plug n play now. I have an LED PCB coming from Madcatz and some translucent buttons coming from elsewhere. Here are my only minor gripes:*That rainbow sheen. If you remove the plexiglass and wipe down the artwork and both sides of the plexi it WILL mostly go away, however. I think it may be from a thin film of grease from the plexi production.*It would be nice to have a touchpad, some functions rely on this -- for instance, you don't have a start and select button if you're streaming fighting games from PSNow so it requires controlling switching

Solid Arcade Fightstick
First off the only real options for PS4 fightsticks right now (July 2015) are basically this and the few sticks Hori has. I'm not a fan of Hori due to the extra button placed on the extreme right side which gets in the way occassionally. I am not a MadCatz fanboy either but they set the standard for store bought fightsticks.Pros:Sanwa buttons: Lets be honest, they are awesome. You may prefer Seimitsu buttons or Hap or some other company (you can only put in lower profile buttons anyway) but Sanwa is rock-solid when it comes to arcade buttons for fighters. They do not come with silencers (and you should buy some for it) and are the clip in variety (I prefer the screw down ones but it appears that the "X" button would still have to be a clip in due to the mounting plate for the joystick being too close to the button).Case design: It's a brick, you could use it to bludgeon some unsuspecting intruder to death, plug it back in, and fire up Street Fighter right after it and it'll still work. For me the weight is awesome. The easy access internal compartment is an excellent touch. No more voiding your warrenty to get inside to make chages or modify your stick. Stiff, sturdy, tensioned hinges that will hold the weight of the top as to make working on the stick much easier. Also has some fancy foam recesses for extra buttons and the like. Has a compartment for storing the USB cable which is great if you bring it around with your (also has metal hook ups for a shoulder strap too if you are into that kind of thing). Plastic covering comes off easy with the provided screwdriver to change art and the like. Has easier to remove terminals for the buttons (still not the easiest to remove but would prevent any of the connectors from disconnecting from harsh use or transport. Includes a color-coded wiring diagram in case your forget what wires go where. Joystick is hooked up via a 5 pin molex connector that is standard for PCB styled joysticks.USB cable: The metal 5 conductor hook up with a metal locking ring is awesome. It would take some serious abuse to break. The cable itself should be longer, I believe it comes with a 3 meter cable and I would prefer a 4-5 meter cable as my system and TV sit far enough away for the cable to float in the air from my couch.Neutral:Velix button layout: Some may like it, others not. I prefer the more curved layout like Astro City but I can get by just fine with this and will not be replacing it with a custom job. You can get the 6 button layout similiar to the original Street Fighter layout with the 6 right buttons albeit a little staggered but it would only be a 6 button layout (some games this is no problem, others you need all 8). Rumor is that MadCatz will be releasing replacement tops to accommodate alternative button layouts and if Astro City is offered, I am all in for it.Plastic top: It is thin and warps/flexes a bit when used. It has a rainbow sheen to it (pride arcade stick) that is reduced after I used some electronics cleaning spray and a lintless cloth but is still noticeable and may interfere with art placed beneath it. It is thin and made of a plastic that is much less ridged than plexiglass or Lexan. Personally, I am going to replace it with Lexan. It does not however affect gameplay or its functionality.Sanwa Joystick: While it is better than most options for a fightstick, personally I prefer Seimitsu (notably the LS-40-01), it has its own issues but maybe just fine for others. It has a large deadzone when compared to other Asian manufacturers. It has an extremely long throw. It comes with a square restricting gate (I prefer circle or octagonal for a shorter throw and less hang up). The ball top is seamed (for me this is an extreme annoyance). The shaft cover doesn't quite reach the ball top (I do not care but others might). I've ordered a Seimitsu LS-40-01, octagonal gate, SS mounting plate (needed to for installation), and a nicer, seamless ball top. Albeit, these are personal preferences or aesthetics, your mileage may vary. This is still an excellent stick to get started on fighters with but down the line think about upgrading your joystick to something else (Seimitsu, Hap if you can make it fit and like them, Crown, Myoungshin, etc.).Foam Bottom: Okay, for lap use, it's awesome but for table use it slides more than I would like. There should have been added rubber feet in the corners or some screw studs to attach some. Again your mileage may vary and it may not affect you. For me, I am a lap player and this is pretty awesome but time will tell if it will hold up to heavy use.Power LED: It's red when the color scheme is blue. Should have ponied up for a blue LED to match. It's not a huge deal and I can always change it out for a different color.Cons:Raised edge on the bezel: This is an annoyance for me, while it does not cause any pain it does irritate me.Cable length: It should be at least a few feet longer. I'm sure most of us play from a TV set up in a family room of sorts and sit back from it a decent distance (I for one have the cable floating in mid air). I am ordering a USB extension cable.Joystick ball top: Its freaking seamed! For the price this stick costs, a smooth, machined ball top is not too much to ask for. I have an extra spare smooth top I put on it (6mm threaded shaft is pretty standard so replacements are easy to get and are fairly cheap). You may like a bat top and since it is a standard 6mm threaded shaft you can replace it easily enough. But I think we can agree, the stock ball top is cheap as hell.Plastic top thickness: Its along the lines of 1/32nd of an inch. Plan ahead and raise the outer edges and put in a 1/8th inch plexi or Lexan (not this cheap, plastic film). No Touchpad button: Although it's not a huge issue, it would have been nice to have one included since games like Ultra Street Fighter 4 use it in the training mode and there will be a USF4 Tournament Edition 2 fightstick coming in the near future and to not have all the inputs it requires is puzzling to say the least.I did receive my stick two days later than I should have but I did preorder it and it was expected. My LS/DP/RS selector button was not molded properly and was missing one of the locking tabs and as a result, it will not stay in. MadCatz has stated they are shipping me a new one to replace it for no charge (good customer service but stupid banker's hours for tech support).Remember, this is not a custom fightstick. You may need to mod it to get it to where you want and that will add extra cost. I ordered silencers for my buttons, a Seimitsu LS-40-01 joystick, Seimitsu SS mounting plate (needed for installing their joysticks without modifying your case), Seimitsu octagonal restricting gate, USB extension cable, and a new smooth, machined ball top. In the future I plan on replacing the plastic top with lexan, changing 7 of the buttons to scew-locking Sanwa buttons (the "X" cannot be changed due to the mounting plate for the joystick), and changing the power LED to a blue one. Considering what is included it's not priced outrageously for what you get and anyone claiming otherwise may not have played with some of the higher end manufactured fightsticks but they did cut a few corners from previous sticks they have put out (the plexi, cable length, and ball top being the big ones for me). Custom sticks of higher quality will either cost more or you will have to obtain the parts and assemble it yourself (easy to do but right now there are no PS4 PCBs out there except for hacked controllers). For me, this is a solid start for PS4 fightsticks until custom fightsticks start showing up on the market and I will probably make the change then but for now, this is rock-solid.
