The Dark Side of Asian Women: What to expect from an Asian woman before it happens

Whilst there may be a few kernels of truth in what the author says, the women he describes are more typical of countries suffering from grinding poverty. They may indeed look at a white guy as a meal ticket and a means to a better life. But women from more developed Asian countries would be deeply offended by the sweeping statements made by the author. I am an Asian woman myself and I have better things to do than scheme and manipulate my way to a western country by trapping a white guy. In fact, most of the Asian women I know are highly educated, independent and intelligent beings who do not need to look to a white man for validation. I find the author's gross generalisations and patronising tone highly offensive. But then any worldly person reading this drivel would just laugh at his ignorance.

The title of this short book is dare I say is ignorant. I say that because to describe the way one culture is different from another as "Dark" is to put a negative value on that difference. Yes for better or worse there are difference and the book does point some out and it is good to be aware of them. So if you want to venture into a relationship with a person from another culture it can be helpful to get some understanding about what you are getting into. Lets just say that if you try to hail a taxi in Bangkok the same way you do in New York you will miss the cab. This book will do little to help you get a taxi ride but it may keep you from going on an unexpected rocky romantic ride.

Great insight to a totally different culture. This is a MUST if You are looking to have a Long Term relationship or even Marriage! But! I will say that it is not too far different from Women in Western Culture! The difference is these women know what they are doing and have no problems showing their as You would call a, "Dark Side!" Asian Women once scorned, is very hard to reverse!

I sat down to read this "book" and thought I was just about through with the intro, and ready to get into the real substance, when I see I'm on page 47, the END, and there is no real substance to this book. Reading 20 min or so of print should not be called a book. I'm definitely not a speed reader. I feel a bit stupid now for dismissing the other negative comments. I am currently living with an Asian woman in Thailand, and I was anxious to compare my experience with that of the author, because at times I am a bit confused by her behavior. So, I did enjoy what I would call an introduction to the subject, not really a book about the subject.Update: 5 years later: I just read this book again, and think my first review was too critical. After a difficult 3 years with my first GF and a breakup, I am in my 2nd relationship with another Thai woman now, and after 2 years together I have to say that this book really does have value to help in understanding an Asian woman's thinking and behavior. I think the author covered a lot of valuable topics accurately, although, if he had included more actual examples of women's behavior along with the explanations of cultural differences, maybe It would have sunk in a little better. I really am a slow learner with some things. I am still quite baffled at times with my GF's thinking and actions, because I tend to forget just how different our cultures are. So reading the book again actually helps to make sense of things. I do recommend this book - a lot of information is packed in a few words.
