First attempt at diamond painting - very pleased
This was the first time I'd done diamond painting and I thought it would be a good introduction and make a nice and cheap holiday activity during a winter break. I watched a YouTube video beforehand as there are no instructions, but once you know what you're doing it's easy. Instead of using these as keyrings, I wanted them to decorate a small table top Christmas tree, which they were perfect for. Sizewise, if you don't have a tape measure to hand, they are about as tall as (or slightly taller than) an AA battery. My first photo shows the figures and tools before starting. Note that I purchased separately from Amazon the mini containers for storing the diamonds in as they come in sachets which are not resealable, so getting them in and out of the sachets and storage could become fiddly. The second photo shows them complete, whilst the third photo is a close up of a figure before completion so you can see the numbering on it.These figures are double sided so are suitable for hanging on a tree if you prefer that to a keyring (in which case you just attach the chain and not the clasp to the figure when you've completed it).It is of course easy to spill the odd few diamonds on the floor if you're not careful but ample diamonds were supplied so don't worry too much about the occasional stray diamond, with the exception of the few larger sized ones, as fewer are supplied of those and in the case of a couple of them, only the exact amount were supplied.I give this 5 stars for the price paid - a nice little portable activity that would be great to do at home or take on holiday and they don't take too long to finish. I've already found a different set of similar Christmas figures on Amazon and am about to get stuck into them! (Interestingly, the second set, from a different seller, uses different numbers for the same colours, eg. in this set green was number 1 but in my other set number 1 is red - not a problem though.)For those interested in knowing how it works, each sachet of diamonds is numbered to correspond with the numbers on the figures. (I cut off each number printed on the sachets and sellotaped them to the little containers I was storing the respective diamonds in for easy identification.) When you're ready, tip some diamonds of one colour into the little green tray. Shake the tray gently so that most of them settle the right way up. Press the nib of the 'pen' tool into the piece of pink wax - this enables you to pick up diamonds with the 'pen' (don't worry that there only seems like a small amount of wax as you'll need only a very small amount - not even a quarter of it - to complete all 5 figures, and this one dip of the nib in the wax will last for quite a long time before you have to do it again). Peel back part of one side of the clear film from one of the figures. This reveals the sticky surface that the flat back of the diamond will adhere to. Press the nib of the 'pen' tool onto a diamond in the tray, ensuring you've chosen one the right way up (do not pick it up by the flat back). Press that diamond firmly onto a corresponding number on the figure. Be careful not to put your fingers on the sticky part of the figure. To start with I only partially pull back the film so that I don't accidentally touch the sticky area. Also, if you're not planning to finish the figure in one sitting it's wise not to remove the film completely until it's necessary. If you place a diamond that's not quite lining up within it's circle printed on the figure, gently slide it into position with the 'pen' rather than trying to lift it off and reposition. When you've finished doing that colour, tip back any excess remaining diamonds using the tapered end of the tray to help you pour, then select and tip out diamonds of another colour, and so on. Once you've completed one whole side, turn it over and do the other side. Finally add the chain (with or without the clasp depending on your intended use).

The actual key rings are cute. Unfortunately the item has been supplied with no instructions . Ordered for someone else who didn’t know how to make them up. Kept them for myself as I know how to make them up. Thank you. 😊
