Being of mixed race with an Irish mother and a Congolese father, my hair has a fine and wavy texture with medium thickness. Initially skeptical, especially as someone with dry, wavy (sometimes curly) hair, I prioritize moisture and effective detangling. When I embrace my hair's natural state, I avoid daily brushing, opting instead to run my fingers through it to maintain the wave and curl pattern. I wash my hair only once or twice a week, depending on post-workout sweating. Moreover, my commitment to a zero-waste lifestyle drives my choices as a planetary steward.Trying the HiBar Moisture Bar Shampoo and Conditioner was a unique experience. Saturating the hair with water is crucial to ensure effective product transfer to strands. Though shampooing required effort to cover my scalp, it produced a satisfying lather. After rinsing, my hair felt squeaky, initially raising concerns about excessive moisture stripping.Moving on to the crucial conditioning step, I saturated my hair with water and applied the conditioner bar through my strands. Despite initial skepticism, I refrained from reaching for my usual bottled conditioner. After saturating and covering my hair, I piled it atop my head and covered it with a shower cap while attending to other shower tasks.Upon rinsing out the conditioner, my hair felt surprisingly silky, a notable departure from the expected dryness. The ultimate test came during the combing phase with a super wide-tooth comb. Since I don't brush my hair during the week, it gets knotted and tangled. To my delight, the hair was significantly less tangled compared to when using my regular bottled conditioner, and it emitted a clean, pleasant fragrance. I am excited to continue using this product in hopes it will continue to amaze me.I'm really happy to have found a product that I can use on my unique strands, reduce my use of plastics, and reduce the bulk of hair products when traveling.

I have thick, coarse, curly, dry hair. I need moisture, frizz and curl control as well as a detangler. Normally I have lots of hair in my shower after washing not to mention the tangles. I read all the reviews before trying this. Was disappointed that some said it didn't last or lather.I just wanted something to take on my vacation for two weeks. TSA has the liquid restrictions and I was going to have to check a bag just to take enough conditioner/hair products for two weeks.My problem has been solved. I now have a shampoo and conditioner [ as well as a leave in bar). I tried this to be certain of the results before packing. This has been a blessing. No more tangles, my curls now behave, my hair is soft and smells great but not over powering. I even used the blow dryer to speed up the drying process. I never did this before unless I would flat iron just because I would look like einstein before the flat iron... even with product!Now I have the hair I wanted. The shampoo lathers well. Just wet your hair and the bar and lather up!The conditioner works great. I usually use alot of conditioner just to get through my tangles. With this conditioner I just rub this bar over the front and back of my wet hair after shampooing. When done I rub a little in my palms to get a very thin/light coating then finger comb it through my hair. I have a dry scalp so I make certain tu use some on my scalp, shower then rinse.I use the leave in conditioner the same way, but do not rinse.I use moisturizer shampoo and alternate the next shampoo session with a frizz control bar.Just twice a week and my hIr already feels and looks great compared to what it was.I bought some for my friends who needed the volume control instead of the moisture and frizz. Each one loves it and saw good results. One of them has difficulties holding bottles and washing her hair, but she said the bar was much easier for her hands to use.This is my new product! No more expensive shampoos and no more recycling bottles. I feel I am using less product than the bottles, so this is a fraction of what I was paying!The other savings is a plus as wel.. it goes right inside my personal item.. no more worrying about checking a bag just to get 2 weeks supply of hair product!!

For reference: I have long, navel length straight, medium thick, hair. I rarely use heat on my hair.TIPS & TRICKSAfter making the switch from traditional shampoo & condition to bar soap, I have some tips to help you really get the most out of this product.>Use a “soap saver” (netted bag) to hold and lather your shampoo bar. This helps you get more suds than just running the bar along your wet hair. Make sure to ultra-saturate your hair, if you have a removable shower head, run it along your scalp and massage your scalp with your fingers to get every fiber of hair as wet as possible. Also - feel free to add a little water as you lather and scrub.>For the conditioner… lower your expectations - it will never be synthetic conditioner that coats your hair in silicone or who knows what else to achieve that silky texture. Just be sure to get your hair super wet again to apply the conditioner and use your fingers or a comb to work it into the ends of your hair.REVIEW:The scent of the blue “HYDRATE” shampoo and conditioner is really light, with a somewhat fruity afterscent. It’s not overly sweet or overbearing. The shampoo works pretty well and gets my hair equally as clean as traditional shampoo (using the tips & tricks above). I have used other bar conditioners that just aren’t great - this is a pretty good one in comparison to those, but again, you’ll never get the same results as traditional conditioning, so just implement a new hair mask routine to offset those changes.
