I love this little saw!
This is a perfect light weight saw that comes in very handy. It's durable enough for daily use. It's a snap to move around, I can cut interior and exterior trim with it. It uses the standard 20v DeWalt batteries that I have plenty of.

Just wanted I wanted
This is a perfect miter saw for my needs, I don't have a huge wood shop and I don't do overly huge projects, small tables, book shelves, cutting boards, things like that. I have quite a few dewalt products following in my fathers foot steps and I love the build of this thing. The dust collection is great for what it is, I have it hooked to my stealth sonic and nothing is perfect: but it catches way more then I expected! It cuts through anything I put at it so far in my test, its light weight and easy to use and I for see no issues with this stable, strong, well built, high quality saw. If you told me this came out years ago before I looked it up I would never believe you because it seems built to last for ages! It will get a ton of use!

This cordless EASILY performs as well as a corded saw!
This is a very well built, solid saw! I bought the DeWalt cart/stand to go with it. Battery life (6AH) is superb - made it through my entire bathroom remodel on a single battery (2x4’s and trim). I used this outside, so dust collection was an irrelevant issue to me. This saw is extremely easy to change settings. Great power and performance all around.

Great Little Saw...EXCEPT for THIS
Ok, let me preface this review... Love the saw except for one thing which all of you should know about. I've done a few pretty major jobs with saw now, and overall it has made my work life better. -so 5 stars so far. I'd buy it again unless DeWalt comes up with something even better. With only a 7.25" blade I was not expecting miracles capacity-wise and I bought it mostly to cut small trim that does not warrant hauling around a big saw. It was perfectly set up right out of the box - I didn't have to adjust anything except the scale pointers (The saw cut perfect 90 and 45 in both directions turn and bevel... I just tweaked the pointers to make it read more accurately for ME. Even those might have been perfect for someone else. I also put the thinnest highest-toothed carbide finishing blade on it that I could find - The blade that comes with it is just fine - a high quality DeWalt carbide blade... but I am doing very fussy cabinet/trim work at the moment and wanted the finest cut/highest tooth number I could find. The shadow light blade indicator works perfectly- way more accurate than the typical blade laser. One minor beef - the switch to turn the light on is stiff and harder to operate than it needs to be (it's under a little rubber dust/moisture proof cap - very small for my fat fingers. So what's the problem? DeWalt says the saw can cut 3-1/2" baseboard standing up. Fake News folks... it can but only on one side of the blade, and in pretty much one place on the saw. That's usable once in a while, but basically to cut baseboard on this saw you're going to be doing a lot of flipping, laying down (and using the bevel) , or flipping it upside down on the left, or doing some other gymnastics that are not required on a larger saw. One big issue with that approach, a lot of 3 1/2" base you buy is NOT parallel faced, in other words you can't put the face against the fence for one cut and the back against the face for another and get the same result. So what I do is take a 12" (or so) scrap and invert that with whatever orientation I actually need. The two thicknesses - one up, one down, do result in parallel faces so you can reliably reverse the cut. Typical DIY user would have no clue about doing that and so would get very inconsistent results. No huge deal, and the motor would have to be seriously offset some way to give you the same clearance under the right of the blade, and I wouldn't expect that in a sub-$300 tool. SO the description of capacity is misleading. An experienced trim carpenter can deal with it but the fact is - you do give up a lot going from a 10 or 12" blade to a 7.25" blade. This saw is NOT a substitute for a larger saw, but it's a great companion to one, if that makes sense. I also wish it had the ability to cut dadoes and kerfing (lock the head partially down) - but alas it does not. Still, very handy little saw. Just don't expect it to be the only miter saw you'll need to own.

This is what I wanted!
Ok I had an old 10” craftsman miter saw. The guard broke and needed 2 hands to operate. I tried to find replacement parts but it’s no longer supported. Anyhow, I’m a do-it-yourself kinda guy. I’ve built multiple decks, 16X20 shed, fences, outdoor furniture, etc. I’ve slowed down as I’m in my 60’s but wanted a new miter saw to replace the now unsafe old Sears model. I was pleasantly suppressed how well this works for a 20V saw. It’s not the horse power of a plug-in but for what I do it’s perfect. I just cut 2X4’s to 2X8’s but mostly 1X and 2X dimensional stock. If I made a living with my miter saw I would go with the larger 12” compound or the FlexVolt models. But the smaller size and the fact it’s light is what’s important to what I need. If it’s a pain to get out and lug to where I’m working, find an outlet and drag an extension cord out, many times I wouldn’t use it but just grab my circular saw. For me, I can easily grab it to make a quick cut or two when needed. But could also use to build my shed, fences or decks. Love love love the light! It casts a shadow from the blade that shows exactly where the cut will happen. And since it’s not a laser line like some are, there’s no worry of alignment issues or having to recalibrate after changing blade types. Also being the same blade size as a circular saw means blades are cheap as well as only needing one blade type that will fit both types saws. I am already into the dewalt cordless ecosystem so adding this just seemed a no-brainer over other brands. I didn’t need batteries or a charger because I have those for my other dewalt cordless tools. My son swears by Milwaukee, they also make great tools but like I said, if you already own dewalt 20V tools, why buy into another battery system?

A must tool for the DIYer!
Very good tool! A must have for the DIYer for finish work. It's a Dewalt so you know what you are getting as far as quality but even then, I was surprised at how good it cuts plus the laser line is a game changer. Unlike other miter saws I have; the dust collector works well too! I have primarily used for finish work but have cut some dimensional lumber (2x4s & 2x6s) and it seemed to work just fine, but I don't think I would use it for a large framing/building project.

Excellent saw, very convenient, compact. Used a lot on the past year. Lots of power for what it is. No issues ripping through 3 1x6s at a time.

So my wife and I own and operate a small handyman business in our condominium complex which exists of 2-21 story buildings and several outbuildings. We purchased a 10" mitre saw with a stand that had wheels thinking it would be perfect to move around when needed. After using the 10" for a while we realized that it was quite awkward and a little heavier than we thought so we bought this 7-1/4" Dewalt mitre saw. On top of being approximately 65lbs lighter it has performed flawlessly so far and has plenty of power. I do a lot of shelving with 12" boards and the only thing is that I need to flip the board to complete the cut but honestly that's the only thing we find that could be frustrating for some people but it has absolutely no effect on me. I'm using a Dewalt Power Stack 5ah battery and in the last week I've used the saw a total of 12 hours without any problems. Depending on the level of work you do I think this saw is more than sufficient for all trim, 2x4's etc..., and all shelving. I highly recommend this saw. It came in the original box and I checked it out thoroughly and it clearly had not ever been used. I find the entire Dewalt 20v line one of the best out there today, they are a solid product and the warranty is awesome with the 3 year plan.
