Fractional plates are good to have
It's kind of insane how much fractional plates cost, but these are no more egregious than any other fractional plates. These were the cheapest full set of Metric fractional plates at the time I was looking. I wanted metric, even though I lift in a U.S. gym, for reasons explained below. The color coating isn't terrific; in my gym bag, they rub off a little on each other. I think they'll stay vivid enough that I can easily pick out the one that I'm looking for, though. Other than that, you know, it's steel -- how different is one set going to be from another? I got the KG set because I wanted to have enough weight to smoothly transition between 15-pound increments on the weight stacks on machines at my gym. I epoxied some rare-earth magnets to these plates, so I can stick a cylinder of these right on to the side of the stack. Like Plate Mates, but with more variation in weight. Going with the KG set means I can't be quite as granular when microloading barbell exercises (and of course, I'm having to guesstimate pound equivalents), but having 11+ pounds total made the set more versatile.
