Hot on the heels of their ground-breaking and highly lauded 2014 opus ‘Albion’.In true classic Ten style, the album opens with the atmospheric ‘Buccaneers’ instrumental and segues straight into the cinematic ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’Great songs, big choruses, stunning solo work and twin leads with the British seven piece once again raising the bar and firing on all cylinders. ‘Isla de Muerta’ promises to inspire the imagination, with songwriter Gary Hughes once again delving into a rich and varied array of subject matter this time around.

AOR Heaven: Ten Continues its Winning Streak
Contrary to several reviews on here, I found this album by Ten to be an AOR masterpiece; nearly as good or just as good as last year's outstanding "Albion." Obviously, the band has a wealth of material, as Albion was by no means a short album. And "Isla De Muerta" is packed full of goodies too. For the most part a concept album, it features crisp production, and a few instrumentals added in, like most Ten albums do. The melodies are top notch, with highlights being "Tell Me What to Do," "Intensify," and "Revolution." Based on the song titles, this album won't win any awards for lyrical content, but the themes are better than many AOR albums, which mostly explore broken relationships, love, and the meaning of life. Personally, my favorite piece is Karnak/The Valley of the Kings. It blends the album together nicely, leading right into the track "Revolution." I'd give this one 4.5 out of 5, with Albion scoring a perfect 5, but this is another amazingly solid and consistent album from one of the genre's best bands.

Beautiful lyrics and songs!!
An excellent album from an excellent band!! Following the excellent quality of the songs of their previous album Albion, Isla de Muerta contains all the classic Ten: fast songs and ballads with superb guitar solos and lyrics. Highlights to songs like Bucaneers/Dead men tell no tales, Karnak/The valley of the king, The Dragon and Saint George, Tell me what to do, and Intensify. The japanese bonus track Assault and Battery is also an excellent track!! The balad This Love is also amazing!! Strongly reccomended for hard rock/AOR fans!!

rock music with great harmonies, perfect pitched guitar riffs & great composing ...
Am a big fan of Gary Hughs' vocals. This long forgotten about band appears to have produced another outstanding sound of Melodic rock. It's unfortunate that US radio doesn't capitalize on or it under appreciates this form of genre. The US is too focused on pop, hip hop & rap to hear the real beauty of what our counterparts have & continue to produce....rock music with great harmonies, perfect pitched guitar riffs & great composing both lyrically & instrumentally.

As good as ever
I may be the only one but I like this album as much or more than their previous effort "Albion". Very nice, highly polished melodic hard rock.

Second worst album, after "Twilight Chronicles."
Huge let down after the really, really good "Albion." This sounds like a mix of uninspired Ten songs and solo Gary Hughes b-sides. There are a few very good tunes on here, though. Not sure what happened here, but I think they rushed to get this out. Slow down, buys. Quality over quantity. I say this owning everything you have done. A real fan doesn't do hand-fed.
