These bulge out and slouch so they will require support/basket/build-around if you want them to stay anything approaching a square in shape or stay upright. They allow for good drainage but I don't appreciate having to spend the time and money on building custom frame baskets for each one.Update after the season- 3/4 completely ripped ( I had allowed the soil to become completely dry and scooped out the top half before trying to lift/dump it to harvest my potatoes. The fabric ripped right around the handles completely and not at any seams. The bottoms are not going to hold up again. These are not environmental friendly nor multi-use quality. I did harvest an excellent amount of Rose Finn Apple Fingerling potatoes and Row 7 Seed Upstate Abundance potatoes with these and other containers and two patches in-ground but I will never buy these again. I'll stick to the big storage tubs I can use for decades.

I am using these to grow carrots in my greenhouse. The fabric is thick and sturdy. It seems to hold water a bit better than some of the other growing bags, which reduces the need to water as frequently. My carrots are growing better in these bags than in my tubs, likely because the roots get better air circulation. My only complaint is that the bags do not retain their shape when filled with dirt. They become round, defeating the purpose of having square bags. However, they’re a good value for the price and I will likely buy more next spring.
