a touch of style for a decent price.
Please see attached photos.Assembly was super easy (took 15 minutes to unbox and completely assemble), even though the instructions were text-less and a bit vague. The 8hex-head screws are basically color coded (which is good, as the directions are pretty unclear on this point), and are easily tightened with the included allen key. The shaft sockets into the base and footrest stem without hardware, which makes it super easy to disassemble for moving/repositioning.The back and especially the seat are well-padded and comfortable. The stool has a large range of height--seat is at ~26 inches at lowest setting and ~34 inches at highest. It swivels well under a load, and seems stable and durable.A few little gripes:--i didn't think it would bother me, but the fact that everything below the seat is 'chrome' but the metal back bracing is painted black bothers me a little bit. While it made assembly easy (by effectively color-coding the screws), it negatively effects the aesthetic, in my opinion.--the fabric covering the seat is the same thing you find on almost any cheap office chair. hopefully, it is durable, but only time will tell. i may decide to disassemble the seat and back to reupholster them, although a quick and easy slip-cover might be the better solution, as i am not sure how easy it would be to dis- and reassemble the sections.--the collar between the shaft and the base is made of cheap plastic, and has several rough spots. cosmetically, it matches the 'chrome' look of the shaft and base, but fits so loosely that it has no purpose beyond decoration--and the stool looks better without it, in my opinion.--the collar on the base which holds the shaft is spot welded. that is not necessarily a bad thing, but in my experience, it does mean the weld will break eventually. i have access to a wire welding rig, so i can reinforce or repair this if or when the weld fails, but i understand many people may not, and this may effect your purchasing decision.overall, the 'bones' of the stool are good, and for the price, it's hard to complain too much.

Not bad
First for those of you that also had a problem with the stool not moving up and down; when you assemble these make sure you remove the black plastic cap on the neck of the "stem"! I youtubed how to fix a non moving hydraulic stool and found the solution! Indeed I had failed to remove the cap on two of the stools-took them apart and pounded the now jammed in cap out of the cylinder with a hammer and and crescent wrench! Stool are NOT wood as stated and do also chip when they hit the counter ( we bought two for a trial a while ago) They are comfortable. Seems it is challenging to find comfortable quality stools!.

then you will be happy with this chair
First, let me say, you get what you pay for. If you realize this is a pleather chair with wood "print", then you will be happy with this chair. It is very comfortable, and the height level and shock absorber work well. I had this in a commercial setting, and the employee who used this chair love it. It does look like pleather and not like real leather, so be warned. Other than that, It is pretty cool and functional.

Where are the instructions?
I love these stools, now that I assembled them correctly. I went online to find out how to unlock the pneumatic riser. You had to pull up very, very hard.My grandchildren love the stools, however they do not weigh enough to lower the stools after they are raised. I get to sit on the stools to make them go back down. Whee! The stools are surprisingly stable considering you are seating very high on a very narrow shaft when they are completely raised. And even adults like to make the stools go up and down. I guess we are all kids at heart. They are also very comfortable. And you do not feel like you are going to fall off. The seat cradles your bottom and is not slippery.I've always liked the looks of these stools and now they are in my newly remodeled traditional kitchen. My home is almost 100 years old and these stools take up very little room, something that is very important when you remodel an older kitchen. They are the perfect accent.

Not great for freestyle sitting
If you just want to sit regularly, this stool will work great for you. If you’re into extreme or freestyle sitting there’s probably some better options. Don’t get me wrong, you can do 360 degree spins with different variations of legs and arms being in and out but that’s it. You really wont blow any minds on this stool.Helpful hint: there’s a black plastic cap on top of the piston that raises the seat. Remove it first or it won’t work.

Good Basic Stool
Seems to stand up to some weight as I have some stout people ~300lbs that use these on a regular basis. Note that the piston has some serious force. So children <50LBS will not be able to get these stools to lower, as a matter of fact it will raise them in the air no question; watch out for those little knees under the counter tops.

Boraam Stool
I was holding my breath awaiting the 2 stools because I just sent back 2 others from another company. The returned items were manufactured poorly and didn't go together properly. The Boraam 99530 both went together easily and work well.My only comment is that the seats should have more stuffing and/or have the fabric stretched tighter as one of the stool seats had some puckering in the center. But that would iron itself out in a few minutes after getting up from sitting on it.I say buy and you will like them.

Super sleek and stylish
I had two of these but needed one more when I moved apartments. They are still super sleek and stylish as they were in 2015. The only downside is they aren't very comfortable after about 30 minutes of sitting. They are more form than functional.
