The very name of the brand conveys a deep respect toward craftsmanship and considered as familiar by citizens the world-over. So as a “citizen” of the world, we bear the responsibility to help cultivate a culture of positive change and on-going evolution through our craft. We take that mission seriously and steadfastly welcome what the future may bring. As a true manufacture d’horlogerie, CITIZEN integrates a comprehensive manufacturing process from creating individual components to a watch’s final assembly. It’s an artisan’s approach to watch making based on pushing forward the boundaries of technology and leveraging our experience toward exploring new possibilities. One pivotal technological breakthrough was the development of a light-driven watch. CITIZEN pioneered this engineering innovation well ahead of other watch manufacturers as early as 1976, which led to the launch of the highly acclaimed Eco-Drive in 1995. Utilizing electrical power converted from virtually any light source, this extraordinary innovation changed forever the way watches could be powered. Eco-Drive eliminated the need to ever replace batteries, which made it especially beneficial to areas where such specialist batteries were not obtainable. This leveled the field for citizens of virtually every country to be able to experience unrestricted joy of wearing and using a CITIZEN watch. The product development policy, “The Fusion of Technology and Beauty,” remains a constant motivation for us to merge cutting-edge technology with perfection of design beauty, which as a consequence inspires people to strive to be their best at any time. CITIZEN launches a new campaign in collaboration with Wieden+Kennedy, Better Starts Now. This is the simple belief that no matter who you are or what you do, it is always possible to make something better — and now is the time to start doing it. We believe that better and now are both infinite, and that there is always a next ‘better’ and a new ‘now’ in which you can start pursuing it. It was clear from the onset of this project that we are dedicated to this ideal…not to the past but to the present, and all the way we can improve it. To help communicate this belief to the world we have created a new global CITIZEN brand movie, brand identity and brand website that represents out Better Starts Now philosophy.

A handsome timepiece!
This review is for the Citizen Eco Drive Men's Date Strap Watch [Model number: BM7193-07B]:This is a simple, uncluttered yet elegant classic analog watch to wear as a dress watch or even as a casual one. I noticed that the three hands are yellow gold in contrast to the overall rose gold tone settings thereby making those hands easily distinguishable from the hour markers in dim lighting situations. In addition, I like the ivory color dial that evokes calm and pleasant feeling and that provides better background color for the hands/hour markers than the usual white dial. The curved edge of the mineral crystal sloping downward to meet the case adds extra charm to the watch. And it produces an interesting optical illusion that the lengths of the dial markers on the southern part appear much longer than that of the markers on the northern half while viewing the time. It is nice to know that the special energy storage cell of this watch does not require replacement and an overcharge prevention function is also featured. The degree of water resistance indicates that this watch withstands rain and splashes of water, but not showering or submission. The width of the brown leather strap band is about 27/32”. The watch caseback shows the serial numbers at 6 o’clock position and the movement caliber/case numbers at 8. The function setting instructions and recharging guide are readily available from their website, and they are easy to follow. I am a happy camper to own this attractive and dignified timepiece.PS - I think the photo featured for sale is somewhat underexposed, and the actual watch, especially the dial, looks a lot different and better.

An Uptown Watch at a Downtown Price
Replaced a Bulova automatic, 1974, that proved too expensive to repair the balance wheel --$500+.Ouch. The Citizen is very similar in design, somewhat larger, elegant. I charged it up by leavingit under a lamp for 24 hours and that should be good for 6 months. I wish retailers would include theband length. I have an 8.5 inch wrist and this band just barely fits; I'll probably buy an XL later, for amore comfortable fit but, for now, I'll go with the original. A Citizen band will run $50 but I think it'sworth it -- some of them go into the hundreds. The date window is so small as to be almost useless and you have to wind it through 24 hour cycles to set thecurrent date. Takes forever but I really don't need it, so ....I do love the look of this watch for more formal wear and the Citizen brand has a good reputation anda nice warranty. My go-to watch for kayaking, fishing, yard work and general DYI yard work is a Timexthat I've had for ten years and keeps right on ticking. But it's a bit rugged for the symphony so thisCitizen has been put into service for those occasions.

The best watch i have ever owned
I have Cartier and lots of watches collected for decades. My wife spent about 2K on the Cartier. This watch is three and a half years old and the band has been replaced and not by Citizen because it was half the price of a new watch. I paid $134.75 October 8, 2017 and it looks like today, December 5, 2020, it is around $171.00.This is the best watch for accuracy I have ever owned. Better than the Cartier. In the 1970-80's, my timepieces had to be checked and certified for accuracy by a railroad tech in order to use it for train movements as a Train Dispatcher. Mine was the Elgin National pocketwatch, circa1899. I still have it and it is accurate, but the Citizen at five days this week was to-the-second perfect. The Elgin was 20 seconds slow. Has not been adjusted since 1980 or so.There is no battery and no maintenance to this Citizen watch , but its initial attraction was its looks. It looks retro like some of my 40's, 50's, 60's watches. It's gorgeous; has a big curved crystal, gold embossed markers and no numerals. It is striking and has gotten comments. I got enough watches that the look and feel of this watch is a $200-300 watch. Until you get to the accuracy, which I keep going on about. You don't need a battery! It keeps better time than a quartz watch!I'm sorry, this watch is a deal. Best watch I have ever owned.

Simple and Classic...
I have a number of different watches, but none of them are what you would call a "dress watch". To fill the void, I started looking for a watch that was simple and stylish. I happened upon an online ad for the Citizen Eco-Drive watches and the idea of never needing to replace batteries was very appealing to me. After quite a bit of reading on Citizen's website, I eventually came across the Corso design and really loved the way it looked; simple, with a classic vintage touch. After reading a huge number of online reviews, I was satisfied that the Corso was the watch I was looking for. I wear my wach at least once a week, it keeps perfect time, and still looks like new. I can say that I'm completely satisfied and that I'm looking forward to my next Citizen watch purchase.

Citizen eco-drive watch
Love it. The price is good. Very easy to set-up, and very well built. It seems it is built to last a long long time. Looks great and it is also very accurate, keeping time exceedingly well. The Citizen Eco-Drive is a great design coup. Much more convenient to use than the ordinary quartz and automatic watches from Seiko, Citizen and other manufacturers. It is also cheap to keep as there is no need to replace battery or to lubricate the automatic watches professionally; a great saving to consumers. My highest recommendations to any Citizen eco-drive watches; just pick the one which has the looks and features that appeal to you.

A modern classic
I wasn't planning on buying another watch, but I came across this while looking for a watch for my wife. So much for that :-/Anyway, I resisted but eventually couldn't stop myself. This is a really beautiful piece which looks amazing on the wrist. I've been attracted to the Eco-Drive concept for a while and that, in combination with the classic 40's/50's/60's design is a winner in my book. The gold case, simple off-white dial with slightly pearlescent texture and dauphine hands look fantastic together. The watch is running at about +6 seconds / month which is pretty decent. Good luck hearing the tick - you will need a good ear and a very quiet room. This tells you something about the energy-efficiency of these movements.Overall the finish is very good. The 'gold plating' on the case is actually not gold, but, as far as I can determine, a super-hard ceramic coating based on zirconium nitride (similar to the titanium nitride coating that you see on drill bits), so it should resist daily use very well. As for the scratch-resistance of the crystal, I will try to avoid finding out about that. Certainly I would have much preferred a sapphire glass and I don't think it is unreasonable to expect one at the MSRP they are asking for these. You can now find watches for close to £50 on amazon with sapphire crystals.Other quibbles? The crown is rather plain-looking and the strap, while perfectly decent, looks as if the top, textured layer of leather might be quite thin. We'll see how it lasts. Obviously avoid getting it wet! Also the 'frame' around the date window doesn't quite match the colour of the hour markers. OK, now I'm splitting hairs. These things _might_ be cause for complaint on a more expensive watch.Overall verdict: Really glad I got it. At 46g, it's quite light on the wrist and very easy to wear.

Value price for a valued watch
Good fit, high quality, nice movement. Nothing high end but a classic and classy watch that can work as a formal dress watch or even to spruce up your casual outfit. Great value for the price.

Classy, efficient, and not expensive. Buy while they make em!
I don't usually write reviews, but this Citizen is worth the time. I currently own 4 swiss watches, all automatic, an Alpina, a Baume and Mercier, a Rado, and an Omega. I also own a gold rotary passed down from my father which is quartz. For the automatics I am sick and tired of the time and cost required to maintain them; and for the quartz, of batteries that last 18 months. I already had 2 citizen ecodrives, a sports chrono, and a classical watch to wear with a suit. Though very practical, because you never need to replace a battery or worry about complex automatic mechanics; neither design stuck out to me compared to my automatics. This watch is the exception. It keeps perfect time, looks beautiful; and I imagine i will not have any issues with it. Various people have already asked me what model of 50s Rolex it is, but it isn't. The pictures on the internet do not do it justice at all; so if you are already hesitating on this model, don't any longer. Snap it up while Citizen still produces it. A really smart, classical, 50s looking time piece that i expect will be going for years. Ideal with a suit, or business casual clothing. Classy and not expensive. Great watch Citizen.
