Primula Universal French Press Replacement 8-Cup Glass Beaker

It fit in my French press...I wasn't sure it would. I think something on the site helped me know it had good chance. SOOOOO much cheaper than buying a whole new French press! Been using it months now, no issues, no cracks in the glass, excellent buy.

I bought this to replace the broken glass of my Bodum 8 cup French press I purchased from Starbucks. The replacement beaker fits well. The beaker fits perfectly in its holder and the press fits perfectly in the beaker. This is a cheaper alternative to the actual Bodum replacement. The coffee still tastes great!UPDATE 08-27-12: I reduced this to 3 stars from the original 5. While the beaker fits well and still makes great-tasting coffee, when I fill the beaker to the near top to make a full pot of coffee, the beaker leaks terribly when I pour. The coffee has to be poured VERY carefully when the pot is full so that it does not leak down the sides. But to do that, it requires much concentration. Too much, in my opinion, to just pour coffee into the mug. It is such a common occurrence that for anyone who pours that first or second cup of coffee there are always leaks down the side. My guests are always apologizing for the mess! Leaking does not occur after the first two cups are poured out. While it is not really a big deal, it is definitely an annoyance, especially because we use this coffee pot all the time! I now pour over the sink so I don't have to deal with the leaking and each time wish I spent the money on the original Bodum beaker that never leaked.

The quality of this beaker is fine, I can't really discern any quality difference between it and the Bodum glass it replaced.That said, it did not fit easily into my Bodum "Brazil" base; it actually split the base open. The inside diameter seems close enough, though. The Bodum plunger works fine in it.This wasn't a deal-killer for me. I can still make decent coffee, and I didn't have to spend very much money.

When I left it to close to the edge of the counter that day, turned to watch what my crazy wonderful cat was getting into. Crash the glass was broken at least it broke in large pieces and was empty. Easy clean up. But what to do with my new shipment if Chai Tea? I was so happy when I was looking for a new press I found this. It arrived carefully packed so fast. I was just finishing my last glass of iced Chai Tea and there it was. I am much more careful now. I rest easy knowing I can get another should my attention lapse.

This french press glass replacement fit well into my Bodum Chambord, however if it's filled more than about 2/3 full.... it SPILLS EVERYWHERE.Not sure why, as it looks pretty much the same as my original bodum glass. But it literally spills all over the counter. Super annoying.

The quality of the product Primula glass beaker itself seems fine. However, I read in other reviews that it worked well as a Bodum replacement for an 8 cup french press. So I purchased a Primula replacement beaker.It did not work for the Brazil Bodum french press. Perhaps it works for other Bodum products, but not the Brazil. I believe it may be slightly too large in terms of perimeter. More importantly there's a small lip on the top rim that the typical Bodum beaker does not have. I believe this is what caused the Primula beaker to break as I was pushing it into place. And believe me, I heated up the Brazil holder and had let hot water sit in the beaker that was already partially in place within the holder. However, it broke at the place where the Brazil handle clips onto the beaker. I believe this was because of the rim, which slightly juts outward.So in regard to the quality of the Primula beaker as a stand alone item, well that seems fine.But if you are looking to use it as a Bodum Brazil beaker replacement, I give it an F (0%).

Purchased this for my daughter, who had broken the beaker on her Bodum french press. This is a good value, based on price alone in comparison with the genuine beaker. She says it fit a bit tight initially, but works very well and she is glad to have her coffeemaker back.

It didn't last a year – It's fine and lovely and fits the Bodum french press and worked fine until it just shattered during a routine filling with hot water this morning, March 2nd 2015. (I ordered it on June 10, 2014.) Hot coffee everywhere, scalded my housemate.I contacted Amazon and they offered to send me a replacement one, so I applaud them for that.
