Yes, it is a notch close to the pivot point of the pliers. it will cut lighter gauge wire but is not the most effective cutter on the market.

What are you selling? 8-inch slip joint or 6-inch needle nose? Cannot tell from this listing.

I'm not sure. A friend of mine ordered them for me. I never touch tools and I can't get in touch with them now. I think they are the 8". But I looked at the current listing now and it says on it: 8" when you have to make a selection. I don't think the 6" are available anymore.
