I bought this book for the west coast style and also seeing that bj betts is one of the authors and the price I paid was less than 20 bucks! The book is a combination of a breakdown of different style fonts used in the industry, “how to” and interviews with the top dogs in the tattoo industry right now.I highly recommend this book and for the price tag you any go wrong . Don’t let the cover fool you it’s a dope book!

Highly detailed and full of pictures and written information about the history of each type of lettering that is covered. Highly recommended for people learning to letter or who are interested in the history of the artform.

Great book

Excellent book with a introduction to popular styles used for tattooing! If you cannot draw or do not have the basic concept of how to letter you may feel lost. For a tattooist it is ideal!

Extrem gutes und informatives Buch über“Letter Tattoos", also Schrift in jeglicher Form auf der Haut! Dieses jüngste spannendste Kapitel der Tattookunst wurde bisher stark (oder doch fast komplett!?) vernachlässigt. Die Publikation gibt einen fundierten, lehrreichen und bildgewaltigen Einblick. Es ist definitiv weit mehr als nur ein „Coffee-Table-Book“!Endlich ein Buch, dass nicht nur für diejenigen geeignet ist, die sich für Buchstaben/Schrift/Kalligraphie auf der Haut interessieren, sondern gleichsam für Freunde guter (, von Hand und nicht dem Computer geschaffener,) Typografie/Schriftkunst und vielleicht sogar Graffiti, das wo möglich auch als Inspiration für moderne Tattoo in diesem Genre diente!?!Es enthält sehr und v.a. viele gute Beispiele, aber auch spannende, informative Texte!Absolut empfehlenswert für Freunde der Tätowier- sowie der Schriftkunst und -gestaltung — egal ob in Buchform, an der Wand oder eben auf der Haut!

I really enjoyed the quality of the book (the hardcover, paper, and binding). However, the content within the book was not particularly useful for my purposes. I was looking for Information and examples of text to follow in order to practice drawing different types of lettering and fonts. The content of this book contains information and different examples and styles used by different artists. But it does not provide any useful examples to follow.This book would probably be good for like a waiting room of a tattoo shop for people to look through To pass the time, but I don’t believe it is useful if you are trying to learn about and practice lettering.
